1 사울이 그의 죽음에 동의하더라. 그때에 예루살렘에 있던 교회에 대한 큰 핍박이 있어서 사도들 외에는 그들이 다 유대와 사마리아의 지역들로 두루 널리 흩어지니라. And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.
2 독실한 사람들이 스데반을 옮겨 장사지내고 그를 위하여 크게 애도하니라. And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
3 사울로 말하건대 그가 교회를 크게 파괴하고 집집마다 들어가 남자와 여자를 끌어다가 감옥에 넘겨주더라. As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.
4 그러므로 널리 흩어진 사람들이 각처로 다니며 말씀을 선포하니라. Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.
5 그때에 빌립이 사마리아 시로 내려가 그들에게 그리스도를 선포하매 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
6 빌립이 행한 기적들을 사람들이 듣고 보며 한마음으로 그가 말한 그것들에 주의를 기울였으니 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
7 이는 많은 사람들을 사로잡았던 부정한 영들이 크게 소리를 지르며 그들에게서 나갔고 또 마비 병에 걸린 많은 사람들과 걷지 못하는 사람들이 고침을 받았기 때문이더라. For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.
8 그 도시에 큰 기쁨이 있더라. And there was great joy in that city.
9 그러나 시몬이라 하는 어떤 사람이 있었는데 그가 전부터 바로 그 도시에서 마법을 이용하여 사마리아 백성을 홀리며 자기를 어떤 대단한 자로 내세우매 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:
10 가장 작은 자로부터 가장 큰 자에 이르기까지 그들이 다 그의 말에 주의를 기울이며 이르되, 이 사람은 하나님의 큰 권능이라, 하더라. To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
11 그가 오랫동안 마법으로 그들을 홀렸으므로 그들이 그를 존중히 여기더라. And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
12 그러나 빌립이 하나님의 왕국에 관한 것들과 예수 그리스도의 이름을 선포하는 것을 그들이 믿고 남자들과 여자들이 다 침례를 받으매 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 그때에 시몬 자신도 믿고 침례를 받은 뒤 빌립과 함께 머물며 그 이루어진 기적들과 표적들을 보고 놀라니라. Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
14 이제 예루살렘에 있던 사도들이 사마리아가 하나님의 말씀을 받았다는 것을 듣고 베드로와 요한을 그들에게 보내매 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15 그들이 내려가서 그들을 위해 기도하여 그들이 성령님을 받게 하니 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16 (이는 아직 그분께서 그들 중의 아무에게도 내려오지 아니하셨고 그들이 다만 주 예수님의 이름으로 침례를 받았기 때문이더라.) (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17 그때에 그들이 그들에게 안수하매 그들이 성령님을 받으니라. Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
18 사도들이 안수함으로 성령님이 주어지는 것을 시몬이 보고 그들에게 돈을 주며 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
19 이르되, 이 권능을 내게도 주어 내가 누구에게든지 안수하면 그가 성령님을 받게 하여 주소서, 하거늘 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
20 베드로가 그에게 이르되, 네가 하나님의 선물을 돈으로 살 줄로 생각하였은즉 네 돈과 함께 망할지어다. But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
21 하나님의 눈앞에서 네 마음이 바르지 못하므로 이 일에는 네가 차지할 몫도 없고 나눌 것도 없느니라. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
22 그러므로 너의 이 사악함을 회개하고 하나님께 기도하라. 네 마음의 생각이 혹시 용서될 수도 있으리라. Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
23 내가 보니 네가 쓴맛의 쓸개 속에 있으며 불법에 매여 있도다, 하매 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
24 그때에 시몬이 응답하여 이르되, 당신들은 나를 위해 주께 기도하여 당신들이 말한 이것들 중의 하나도 내게 임하지 않게 하소서, 하니라. Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.
25 그들이 주의 말씀을 증언하고 선포한 뒤 예루살렘으로 돌아가며 사마리아 사람들의 많은 마을에서 복음을 선포하니라. And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
26 주의 천사가 빌립에게 말하여 이르되, 일어나 남쪽으로 가서 예루살렘에서 가자로 내려가는 길로 가라, 하였는데 그곳은 사막이니라. And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
27 그가 일어나 가는데, 보라, 에티오피아 사람 곧 에티오피아 사람들의 여왕 간다게 밑에서 그녀의 모든 국고를 맡아 큰 권세를 가진 내시가 경배하러 예루살렘에 왔다가 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
28 돌아가면서 자기 병거에 앉아 대언자 이사야의 글을 읽더라. Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.
29 그때에 성령께서 빌립에게 이르시되, 가까이 가서 이 병거에 합류하라, 하시거늘 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
30 빌립이 거기로 내시에게로 달려가 그가 대언자 이사야의 글을 읽는 것을 듣고 이르되, 그대가 읽는 것을 깨닫느냐? 하매 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
31 내시가 이르되, 누가 나를 지도해 주지 않으면 어찌 내가 깨달을 수 있으리요? 하고 빌립이 올라와 자기와 같이 앉을 것을 청하니라. And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
32 그가 읽은 성경 기록은 이 부분이니 일렀으되, 그가 도살장으로 가는 양같이 끌려갔으며 털 깎는 자 앞에서 잠잠한 어린양같이 자기 입을 열지 아니하였도다. The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
33 그가 굴욕을 당하며 공정한 재판도 받지 못하였으니 누가 그의 세대를 밝히 드러내리요? 이는 그의 생명이 땅에서 빼앗김을 당하였기 때문이로다, 하였더라. In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
34 내시가 빌립에게 응답하여 이르되, 원하노니 대언자는 누구를 가리키며 이것을 말하느냐? 자기를 가리키느냐, 아니면 어떤 다른 사람을 가리키느냐? 하매 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
35 이에 빌립이 입을 열어 바로 그 성경 기록에서부터 시작하여 그에게 예수님을 선포하니라. Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
36 그들이 계속해서 길을 가다가 어떤 물에 이르매 내시가 이르되, 보라, 여기에 물이 있으니 무엇이 내가 침례 받는 것을 방해하리요? 하매 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37 빌립이 이르되, 만일 그대가 마음을 다하여 믿으면 받을 수 있느니라, 하니 그가 응답하여 이르되, 예수 그리스도께서 하나님의 아들이심을 내가 믿노라, 하니라. And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 그가 명령하여 병거를 멈추게 한 뒤 빌립과 내시가 둘 다 물속으로 내려가니 그가 내시에게 침례를 주니라. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
39 그들이 물속에서 나와 올라올 때에 주의 영께서 빌립을 채어 가시므로 내시는 그를 더 이상 보지 못하더라. 내시는 기뻐하며 자기 길을 가되 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
40 빌립은 아소도에 나타나 모든 도시를 두루 지나가며 선포하고 마침내 가이사랴에 이르니라. But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Cesarea.
