1 유대에 있던 사도들과 형제들이 이방인들도 하나님의 말씀을 받았다는 것을 들었더라. And the apostles and brethren that were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.
2 베드로가 예루살렘에 올라갔을 때에 할례자들에 속한 자들이 그와 다투며 And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,
3 이르되, 네가 할례 받지 않은 사람들에게 들어가 그들과 함께 먹었도다, 하거늘 Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.
4 베드로가 그들에게 그 일을 처음부터 되풀이해서 말하고 차근차근 풀어 설명하여 이르되, But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying,
5 내가 욥바 시에서 기도하다가 무의식 상태에서 환상을 보았는데 마치 큰 보자기 같은 어떤 그릇 하나가 내려오되 네 귀퉁이에 의지하여 하늘로부터 내려와 내게 이르더라. I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:
6 내가 그것에 주목하고 깊이 생각하며 땅에 있는 네 발 가진 짐승들과 들짐승들과 기는 것들과 공중의 날짐승들을 보니라. Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
7 또 내가 들으니 한 음성이 있어 내게 이르시되, 베드로야, 일어나 잡아 먹으라, 하거늘 And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.
8 내가 이르되, 주여, 그리할 수 없나이다. 어느 때라도 속되거나 부정한 것이 내 입에 들어간 적이 없었나이다, 하니라. But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.
9 그러나 하늘로부터 다시 음성이 있어 내게 응답하시되, 하나님께서 깨끗하게 하신 것을 네가 속되다 하지 말라, 하더라. But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
10 이 일이 세 번 있은 뒤에 모든 것이 다시 하늘로 끌려 올라가니라. And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.
11 또, 보라, 즉시로 세 사람이 내가 있던 집에 이미 이르렀는데 그들은 가이사랴에서 내게로 보낸 사람들이라. And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Cesarea unto me.
12 그 영께서 내게 명하사 아무것도 의심하지 말고 그들과 함께 가게 하셨으므로 또 이 여섯 형제도 나와 함께 가서 우리가 그 사람의 집에 들어가니 And the spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man’s house:
13 그가 우리에게 자기가 자기 집에서 천사를 본 것을 알리되 그 천사가 서서 그에게 이르기를, 사람들을 욥바로 보내어 베드로라 하는 시몬을 부르라. And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;
14 그가 네게 말씀들을 전하리니 그 말씀들로 너와 네 온 집이 구원을 받으리라, 하였음을 알리니라. Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.
15 내가 말을 시작할 때에 성령님께서 그들 위에 임하시되 마치 처음에 우리 위에 임하신 것 같이 하시더라. And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
16 그때에 내가 주의 말씀 곧 그분께서 이르시기를, 참으로 요한은 물로 침례를 주었으되 너희는 성령님으로 침례를 받으리라, 하신 것을 기억하였노라. Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
17 그런즉 하나님께서 주 예수 그리스도를 믿은 우리에게 주신 것과 같은 선물을 그들에게도 주셨으니 내가 무엇이기에 하나님을 거역할 수 있었겠느냐? 하니라. Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
18 그들이 이것들을 듣고는 잠잠하고 하나님께 영광을 돌리며 이르되, 그러면 하나님께서 이방인들에게도 생명에 이르는 회개를 주셨도다, 하니라. When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
19 ¶이제 스데반으로 인하여 일어난 핍박으로 말미암아 널리 흩어진 자들이 멀리 베니게와 키프로스와 안디옥까지 여행하며 오직 유대인들에게만 말씀을 선포하더라. Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.
20 그들 중의 몇 사람은 키프로스와 구레네 사람들이었는데 그들이 안디옥에 이르러 그리스말 하는 사람들에게 말하여 주 예수님을 선포하매 And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.
21 주의 손이 그들과 함께하므로 많은 수의 사람들이 믿고 주께로 돌아오더라. And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.
22 ¶그때에 이 일들에 관한 소식이 예루살렘에 있던 교회의 귀에 들어가매 그들이 바나바를 보내며 그가 멀리 안디옥까지 가게 하니라. Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.
23 그가 이르러 하나님의 은혜를 보고 즐거워하며 그들 모두에게 권면하여 그들이 마음에 작정을 하고 주께 붙어 있으라고 하니라. Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.
24 그는 선한 사람이요, 성령님과 믿음이 충만한 사람이더라. 많은 사람들이 주께 더해졌더라. For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.
25 그때에 바나바가 사울을 찾으러 다소로 떠나서 Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:
26 그를 만나매 안디옥으로 그를 데려오니라. 그들이 만 일 년 동안 그 교회와 함께 모이며 많은 사람들을 가르쳤는데 제자들이 안디옥에서 처음으로 그리스도인이라 불리니라. And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
27 ¶이 무렵에 대언자들이 예루살렘에서 안디옥에 이르렀고 And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.
28 그들 중의 한 사람 곧 아가보라 하는 사람이 일어나 영을 통해 온 세상에 두루 큰 기근이 들 것을 표적으로 보여 주었는데 카이사르 클라우디우스 시대에 그 일이 이루어지니라. And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Cesar.
29 이에 제자들이 저마다 자기 능력대로 유대에 거하던 형제들에게 구호금을 보내기로 결정하고 Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judea:
30 또 그것을 실행하여 구호금을 바나바와 사울의 손에 맡겨 장로들에게 보내니라. Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
