| 1 | 예수 그리스도의 종 바울과 디모데는 빌립보에서 그리스도 예수님 안에 있는 모든 성도들과 또 감독들과 집사들에게 편지하노니 | Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons: |
| 2 | 하나님 우리 아버지와 주 예수 그리스도로부터 은혜와 평강이 너희에게 있기를 원하노라. | Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. |
| 3 | 내가 너희를 기억할 때마다 나의 하나님께 감사를 드리고 | I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, |
| 4 | 너희 모두를 위하여 기도할 때마다 항상 기뻐하며 간구함은 | Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, |
| 5 | 첫날부터 지금까지 너희가 복음 안에서 교제하였기 때문이라. | For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; |
| 6 | 너희 안에서 선한 일을 시작하신 분께서 예수 그리스도의 날까지 그 일을 이루실 것 바로 이것을 나는 확신하노라. | Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: |
| 7 | 내가 너희 모두에 대해 이같이 생각하는 것이 합당하니 이는 너희가 내 마음속에 있기 때문이라. 나의 결박당한 일과 복음을 변호하고 확증하는 일에서 너희는 다 나의 은혜에 참여한 자들이니라. | Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace. |
| 8 | 내가 예수 그리스도의 심정으로 너희 모두를 얼마나 많이 그리워하는지 하나님께서 내 증인이시니라. | For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ. |
| 9 | 내가 이것을 기도하노니 곧 너희의 사랑이 지식과 모든 판단에서 여전히 더욱더 풍성해지고 | And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; |
| 10 | 너희가 뛰어난 것들을 입증하며 그리스도의 날까지 성실하고 실족거리가 없는 사람이 되며 | That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; |
| 11 | 예수 그리스도로 말미암은 의의 열매들로 가득하여 하나님의 영광과 찬양이 되기를 구하노라. | Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. |
| 12 | 그러나 형제들아, 내게 일어난 일들이 도리어 복음을 진전시키는 기회가 된 줄을 너희가 알기를 내가 원하노라. | But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel; |
| 13 | 그리하여 그리스도 안에서 내가 결박당한 일이 온 궁궐 안과 다른 모든 곳에 드러나게 되었고 | So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places; |
| 14 | 주 안에 있는 형제들 중의 많은 이들이 내가 결박당한 일로 인해 확신을 갖게 되어 두려움 없이 말씀을 더욱 담대히 말하게 되었느니라. | And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. |
| 15 | 참으로 어떤 이들은 심지어 시기와 다툼으로 그리스도를 선포하고 또한 어떤 이들은 선한 뜻으로 하나니 | Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: |
| 16 | 저들은 내가 결박당한 일에 고통을 더할 줄로 생각하여 성실하지 않게 다툼으로 그리스도를 선포하나 | The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: |
| 17 | 이들은 내가 복음을 변호하기 위해 세워진 줄 알고 사랑으로 하느니라. | But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. |
| 18 | 그러면 무엇이냐? 그럼에도 불구하고 겉치레로 하든지 진실로 하든지 모든 방법으로 그리스도께서 선포되시나니 이로써 나는 기뻐하고 또 참으로 기뻐하리라. | What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. |
| 19 | 너희의 기도와 예수 그리스도의 영께서 공급해 주심을 통해 이것이 나의 구원으로 바뀔 줄 내가 알므로 | For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, |
| 20 | 나의 간절한 기대와 소망에 따라 내가 아무 일에든지 부끄러워하지 아니하고 항상 그러하였듯이 지금도 온전히 담대하여 살든지 죽든지 내 몸에서 그리스도를 높이고자 하나니 | According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. |
| 21 | 내게는 사는 것이 그리스도시요 죽는 것이 이득이니라. | For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. |
| 22 | 그러나 내가 육체 안에 산다면 이것이 내 수고의 열매이니라. 그럼에도 내가 무엇을 택할지 알지 못하노니 | But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. |
| 23 | 떠나서 그리스도와 함께 있기를 바라며 내가 둘 사이에 끼어 있느니라. 그것이 훨씬 더 좋으나 | For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: |
| 24 | 그럼에도 불구하고 육체 안에 거하는 것이 너희를 위해 더 필요하니라. | Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you. |
| 25 | 이같이 확신하므로 너희의 믿음의 진보와 기쁨을 위하여 내가 너희 모두와 함께 거하며 머무를 것을 아노니 | And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith; |
| 26 | 이것은 내가 다시 너희에게 감으로 예수 그리스도 안에서 너희의 기쁨이 나로 인해 더욱 풍성하게 하려 함이라. | That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again. |
| 27 | 오직 너희 행실을 그리스도의 복음에 합당하게 하라. 그리하면 너희에 대한 일들 곧 내가 가서 너희를 보든지 떠나 있든지 너희가 한 영 안에 굳게 서서 복음의 믿음을 위하여 한마음으로 함께 싸우며 | Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; |
| 28 | 어떤 일에서도 너희의 대적들로 인해 무서워하지 아니한다 하는 것을 내가 들을 수 있으리라. 그것이 그들에게는 멸망의 명백한 증표요 너희에게는 구원의 증표니 그것은 하나님에게서 났느니라. | And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God. |
| 29 | 그리스도를 믿는 것뿐 아니라 그분으로 인해 고난당하는 것도 주께서 그분을 대신해서 너희에게 주셨나니 | For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; |
| 30 | 너희가 내 안에서 보았고 또 지금도 내 안에 있다고 듣고 있는 그 동일한 싸움이 너희에게도 있느니라. | Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me. |
