1 그때에 요셉의 아들인 므낫세의 가족들에 속한 자들 중에서 헤벨의 아들이요, 길르앗의 손자요, 마길의 증손이요, 므낫세의 사대 손인 슬로브핫의 딸들이 나아오니라. 그의 딸들의 이름은 이러하니 곧 말라와 노아와 호글라와 밀가와 디르사니라. Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.
2 그들이 회중의 성막 문 옆에서 모세와 제사장 엘르아살과 통치자들과 온 회중 앞에 서서 이르되, And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,
3 우리 아버지는 광야에서 죽었고 고라의 무리에 들어가 주를 대적하려고 함께 모인 자들의 무리에 들지 아니하고 자기 죄 가운데 죽었으며 아들이 없었나이다. Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the Lord in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.
4 그러나 그에게 아들이 없다고 우리 아버지의 이름이 어찌하여 그의 가족 가운데서 삭제되어야 하리이까? 그러므로 우리 아버지의 형제들 가운데서 우리에게 소유를 주소서, 하매 Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.
5 모세가 그들의 사정을 주 앞으로 가져가니라. And Moses brought their cause before the Lord.
6 ¶주께서 모세에게 말씀하여 이르시되, And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
7 슬로브핫의 딸들이 옳게 말하니 너는 반드시 그들의 아버지의 형제들 가운데서 그들에게 상속 재산의 소유를 주고 그들의 아버지의 상속 재산이 그들에게 돌아가게 할지니라. The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.
8 또 너는 이스라엘 자손에게 말하여 이르기를, 사람이 죽고 아들이 없거든 너희는 그의 상속 재산이 그의 딸에게 돌아가게 할 것이요, And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.
9 그에게 딸도 없거든 너희는 그의 상속 재산을 그의 형제에게 줄 것이며 And if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren.
10 그에게 형제도 없거든 너희는 그의 상속 재산을 그의 아버지의 형제에게 줄 것이요, And if he have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his father’s brethren.
11 그의 아버지도 형제가 없거든 너희는 그의 상속 재산을 그의 가족 중에서 그에게 가장 가까운 친족에게 주어 그가 그것을 소유하게 할지니라, 하라. 주가 모세에게 명령한 대로 그것이 이스라엘 자손에게 판결의 법규가 되리라, 하시니라. And if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of judgment, as the Lord commanded Moses.
12 ¶주께서 모세에게 이르시되, 너는 이 아바림 산에 올라가 내가 이스라엘 자손에게 준 땅을 바라보라. And the Lord said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.
13 그 땅을 본 뒤에는 네 형 아론이 거두어진 것 같이 너도 네 백성에게로 거두어지리라. And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered.
14 신 사막에서 회중이 분쟁할 때에 너희가 내 명령을 거역하고 그 물에서 그들의 눈앞에서 나를 거룩히 구별하지 아니하였느니라. 그것은 신 광야의 가데스에 있는 므리바의 물이니라, 하시니라. For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.
15 ¶모세가 주께 아뢰어 이르되, And Moses spake unto the Lord, saying,
16 주 곧 모든 육체의 영들의 하나님께서 한 사람을 이 회중 위에 세우사 Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,
17 그가 그들 앞에서 나가고 그들 앞에서 들어오게 하시며 또 그들을 밖으로 인도하고 또 데리고 들어오게 하소서. 그리하사 주의 회중이 목자 없는 양같이 되지 않게 하옵소서, 하니라. Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the Lord be not as sheep which have no shepherd.
18 ¶주께서 모세에게 이르시되, 눈의 아들 여호수아는 속에 그 영이 거하는 자니 너는 그를 데려다가 그에게 안수하고 And the Lord said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;
19 그를 제사장 엘르아살과 온 회중 앞에 세우며 그들이 보는 앞에서 그에게 책무를 주고 And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.
20 네 존귀 중 얼마를 그에게 주어 이스라엘 자손의 온 회중이 복종하게 하라. And thou shalt put some of thine honour upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.
21 그는 제사장 엘르아살 앞에 서고 엘르아살은 그를 위해 우림의 판결에 따라 주 앞에서 조언을 구할지니 그들은 그의 말에 따라 나가고 그들 곧 그와 및 그와 함께한 이스라엘의 모든 자손 즉 온 회중은 그의 말에 따라 들어올 것이니라. And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before the Lord: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.
22 모세가 주께서 자기에게 명령하신 대로 행하여 여호수아를 데려다가 제사장 엘르아살과 온 회중 앞에 세우고 And Moses did as the Lord commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:
23 그에게 안수하며 그에게 책무를 주었으니 주께서 모세의 손으로 명령하신 것과 같았더라. And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the Lord commanded by the hand of Moses.
