| 1 | 형제들아, 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 오심과 우리가 그분께로 함께 모이는 것으로 말미암아 이제 우리가 너희에게 간청하노니 | Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, |
| 2 | 너희는 영으로나 말로나 혹은 우리에게서 왔다는 편지로나 그리스도의 날이 가까이 이르렀다 해서 쉽게 마음이 흔들리거나 불안해하지 말라. | That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. |
| 3 | 아무도 어떤 방법으로든 너희를 속이지 못하게 하라. 먼저 떨어져 나가는 일이 일어나고 저 죄의 사람 곧 멸망의 아들이 드러나지 아니하면 그 날이 이르지 아니하리라. | Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; |
| 4 | 그는 대적하는 자요, 또 하나님이라 불리거나 혹은 경배 받는 모든 것 위로 자기를 높이는 자로서 하나님처럼 하나님의 성전에 앉아 자기가 하나님인 것을 스스로 보이느니라. | Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. |
| 5 | 내가 여전히 너희와 함께 있었을 때에 이 일들을 너희에게 말한 것을 너희가 기억하지 못하느냐? | Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? |
| 6 | 너희는 그가 그의 때에 드러나게 하려고 무엇이 저지하고 있는지 지금 아나니 | And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. |
| 7 | 불법의 신비가 이미 일하고 있으나 다만 지금 막고 있는 이가 길에서 옮겨질 때까지 막으리라. | For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. |
| 8 | 그 뒤에 저 사악한 자가 드러날 터인데 주께서 자신의 입의 영으로 그를 소멸시키시고 친히 오실 때의 광채로 그를 멸하시리라. | And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: |
| 9 | 그가 오는 것은 사탄의 활동을 따라 모든 권능과 표적들과 거짓 이적들과 | Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, |
| 10 | 불의의 모든 속임수와 함께 멸망하는 자들에게로 오는 것이니 이는 그들이 진리의 사랑을 받아들이지 아니하여 구원을 받지 못하였기 때문이라. | And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. |
| 11 | 이런 까닭에 하나님께서 그들에게 강한 미혹을 보내사 그들이 거짓말을 믿게 하시리니 | And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: |
| 12 | 이것은 진리를 믿지 아니하고 불의를 기뻐한 그들이 다 정죄를 받게 하려 하심이라. | That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. |
| 13 | 그러나 주께 사랑받는 형제들아, 우리가 너희로 인하여 항상 하나님께 감사드려야 하나니 이는 하나님께서 처음부터 너희를 택하사 성령의 거룩히 구별하심과 진리를 믿는 것을 통해 구원에 이르게 하셨기 때문이라. | But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: |
| 14 | 이것을 위하여 그분께서 우리의 복음을 통해 너희를 부르사 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 영광을 얻게 하셨느니라. | Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. |
| 15 | 그러므로 형제들아, 굳게 서서 말로나 우리의 서신으로 너희가 가르침을 받은 전통들을 붙들라. | Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. |
| 16 | 이제 우리 주 예수 그리스도 그분과 또 우리를 사랑하시고 은혜를 통하여 영존하는 안위와 좋은 소망을 주신 하나님 곧 우리 아버지께서 | Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, |
| 17 | 너희 마음을 위로하시고 모든 선한 말과 일에서 너희를 굳게 세우시기를 원하노라. | Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work. |
