1 내가 그리스도를 따르는 자가 된 것 같이 너희도 나를 따르는 자가 되라. Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
2 형제들아, 너희가 모든 일에서 나를 기억하고 또 내가 너희에게 규례들을 전해 준 대로 그것들을 지키므로 이제 내가 너희를 칭찬하노라. Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.
3 그러나 나는 너희가 알기를 원하노니 각 남자의 머리는 그리스도시요, 여자의 머리는 남자요, 그리스도의 머리는 하나님이시니라. But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
4 머리를 덮은 채 기도하거나 대언하는 남자는 다 자기 머리를 욕되게 하거니와 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
5 머리를 덮지 않고 기도하거나 대언하는 여자는 다 자기 머리를 욕되게 하나니 그것은 곧 그녀가 머리를 민 것과 전적으로 같으니라. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
6 만일 여자가 머리를 덮지 않거든 또한 깎을 것이로되 만일 깎거나 미는 것이 여자에게 수치가 되거든 여자는 덮을지니라. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
7 남자는 하나님의 형상이요 영광인즉 참으로 그가 자기 머리를 덮지 않는 것이 마땅하거니와 여자는 남자의 영광이니라. For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
8 남자가 여자에게서 나지 아니하고 여자가 남자에게서 났으며 For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.
9 남자가 여자를 위하여 창조되지 아니하고 여자가 남자를 위하여 창조되었나니 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
10 이런 까닭에 여자는 천사들로 인하여 마땅히 자기 머리 위에 권능을 두어야 하느니라. For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.
11 그럼에도 불구하고 주 안에서는 여자 없이 남자가 있지 아니하고 남자 없이 여자가 있지 아니하니 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
12 여자가 남자에게서 난 것 같이 남자도 또한 여자로 말미암아 났느니라. 그러나 모든 것이 하나님에게서 났느니라. For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.
13 너희는 스스로 판단하라. 여자가 덮지 않은 채 하나님께 기도하는 것이 합당하냐? Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
14 만일 남자가 긴 머리를 가지면 그것이 그에게 수치가 되는 것을 본성 그 자체도 너희에게 가르치지 아니하느냐? Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
15 그러나 여자가 긴 머리를 가지면 그것은 그녀에게 영광이 되나니 여자의 머리는 덮는 것으로 주어졌느니라. But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
16 그러나 어떤 사람이 논쟁하려 할지라도 우리에게나 하나님의 교회들에는 그런 풍습이 없느니라. But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.
17 이제 내가 너희에게 밝히 말하는 이 일로는 너희를 칭찬하지 아니하노니 그것은 곧 너희가 함께 모이는 일이 더 좋은 일이 되지 못하고 더 나쁜 일이 된다는 것이라. Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
18 무엇보다 먼저 너희가 교회에 함께 모일 때에 너희 가운데 분쟁이 있다는 것을 내가 듣고 부분적으로 그것을 믿노니 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
19 인정받는 자들이 너희 가운데서 밝히 드러나려면 너희 가운데 반드시 이단 파당도 있어야 하느니라. For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.
20 그러므로 너희가 한 곳에 함께 모일 때에 이것이 주의 만찬을 먹는 것이 아니니 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord’s supper.
21 이는 먹을 때에 저마다 자기 만찬을 다른 사람보다 먼저 먹으므로 한 사람은 시장하고 다른 사람은 취해 있기 때문이라. For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.
22 도대체 무슨 말이냐? 너희에게 먹고 마실 집이 없느냐? 너희가 하나님의 교회를 업신여기고 없는 자들을 부끄럽게 하느냐? 내가 너희에게 무슨 말을 하랴? 내가 이 일로 너희를 칭찬하랴? 너희를 칭찬하지 아니하노라. What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.
23 내가 너희에게도 전해 준 것은 내가 주께 받은 것이니 곧 주 예수님께서 배반당하신 바로 그 밤에 빵을 집으사 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 감사를 드리신 뒤에 그것을 떼시고 이르시되, 받아서 먹으라. 이것은 너희를 위하여 찢긴 내 몸이니 나를 기억하여 이것을 행하라, 하시고 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 저녁 식사 뒤에 또 그와 같은 방식으로 잔을 집으시고 이르시되, 이 잔은 내 피로 세우는 새 상속 언약이니 너희가 그것을 마실 때마다 나를 기억하여 이것을 행하라, 하셨느니라. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 이는 너희가 이 빵을 먹고 이 잔을 마실 때마다 주의 죽으심을 그분께서 오실 때까지 보이기 때문이니라. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.
27 그러므로 누구든지 주의 이 빵과 이 잔을 합당하지 않게 먹고 마시는 자는 주의 몸과 피에 대하여 죄가 있으리로다. Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 오직 사람이 자기를 살피고 그 뒤에 그 빵을 먹고 그 잔을 마실지니 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29 합당하지 않게 먹고 마시는 자는 주의 몸을 분별하지 못하고 자기를 위하여 정죄를 먹고 마시느니라. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
30 이런 까닭에 너희 가운데 약한 자와 병든 자가 많고 잠자는 자도 많도다. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
31 만일 우리가 우리 자신을 판단하려 하면 판단을 받지 아니하려니와 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
32 우리가 판단을 받으면 우리가 주께 징계를 받았나니 이것은 우리가 세상과 함께 정죄를 받지 아니하게 하려 함이라. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
33 그러므로 내 형제들아, 너희가 먹으려고 함께 모일 때에 서로 기다리라. Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.
34 만일 누구든지 시장하거든 집에서 먹을지니 이것은 너희가 함께 모여 정죄에 이르지 아니하게 하려 함이라. 남은 일들은 내가 가서 질서 있게 세우리라. And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.
