1 (사람들에게서 나지도 아니하고 사람으로 말미암지도 아니하며 오직 예수 그리스도와 죽은 자들로부터 그분을 살리신 하나님 아버지로 말미암아) 사도가 된 바울은 Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)
2 나와 함께 있는 모든 형제들과 더불어 갈라디아의 교회들에 편지하노니 And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:
3 하나님 아버지와 우리 주 예수 그리스도로부터 은혜와 평강이 너희에게 있기를 원하노라. Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,
4 그분께서 하나님 곧 우리 아버지의 뜻에 따라 이 악한 현 세상에서 우리를 건지시려고 우리의 죄들로 인하여 자신을 주셨으니 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:
5 영광이 그분께 영원무궁토록 있기를 원하노라. 아멘. To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
6 그리스도의 은혜 안으로 너희를 부르신 분을 너희가 이렇게 속히 떠나 다른 복음으로 옮겨가는 것을 내가 이상히 여기노라. I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 그것은 또 다른 참 복음이 아니며 다만 너희를 어지럽히고 그리스도의 복음을 왜곡하려 하는 자들이 더러 있도다. Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 그러나 우리나 혹은 하늘로부터 온 천사라도 우리가 너희에게 선포한 복음 외에 어떤 다른 복음을 너희에게 선포하면 그는 저주를 받을지어다. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 우리가 전에 말한 것 같이 내가 지금 다시 말하노니 만일 어떤 사람이 너희가 받아들인 것 외에 어떤 다른 복음을 너희에게 선포하면 그는 저주를 받을지어다. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
10 내가 지금 사람들을 설득하느냐, 하나님을 설득하느냐? 혹은 사람들을 기쁘게 하려고 애쓰느냐? 내가 아직도 사람들을 기쁘게 한다면 결코 그리스도의 종이 아니리라. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
11 그러나 형제들아, 내가 너희에게 확실히 알리노니 내가 선포한 복음은 사람을 따라 나지 아니하였느니라. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
12 나는 그것을 사람에게서 받지도 아니하고 배우지도 아니하였으며 다만 그것은 예수 그리스도의 계시로 말미암았느니라. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
13 과거에 유대인들의 종교 안에 있을 때에 행한 나의 행실에 관해 너희가 들었거니와 내가 하나님의 교회를 극도로 핍박하여 피폐하게 하였고 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:
14 내 조상들의 전통에 대해 더욱 심히 열심을 내어 내 민족 가운데서 나와 동등한 많은 사람들보다 유대인들의 종교에서 더 득을 보았느니라. And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.
15 그러나 내 어머니의 태에서부터 나를 구별하시고 자신의 은혜로 나를 부르신 하나님께서 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace,
16 자신의 아들을 내 안에 계시하사 내가 그분을 이교도들 가운데 선포하는 것을 기뻐하실 때에 내가 즉시 혈육과 의논하지 아니하였고 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:
17 예루살렘으로 나보다 먼저 사도가 된 자들에게로 올라가지도 아니하였으며 오직 아라비아로 들어갔다가 다시 다마스쿠스로 돌아갔노라. Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.
18 그 뒤 삼 년이 지나서 내가 베드로를 만나려고 예루살렘에 올라가 그와 함께 십오 일을 지냈으나 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.
19 주의 형제 야고보 외에는 다른 사도들을 보지 아니하였노라. But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord’s brother.
20 보라, 이제 내가 너희에게 쓰는 것들은 하나님 앞에서 거짓말이 아니로다. Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.
21 그 뒤에 내가 시리아와 길리기아 지방에 들어갔으나 Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;
22 그리스도 안에 있던 유대의 교회들이 나를 얼굴로 알지 못하고 And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judea which were in Christ:
23 다만 과거에 우리를 핍박하던 자가 한때 자기가 멸하던 그 믿음을 지금 선포한다는 것을 듣고 But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.
24 나로 인하여 하나님께 영광을 돌렸느니라. And they glorified God in me.
