CHAP. XIII. / 1 Iob reprooueth his friends of partialitie. 14 He professeth his confidence in God: 20 and entreateth to knowe his owne sinnes, and Gods purpose in afflicting him. Loe, mine eye hath seene all this, mine eare hath heard and vnderstood it.
Lo, mine eye hath seen all this, mine ear hath heard and understood it. |
What yee know, the same doe I know also, I am not inferiour vnto you. | What ye know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior unto you.
Surely I would speake to the Almighty, & I desire to reason with God. | Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.
But ye are forgers of lies, yee are all Physicians of no value. | But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value.
O that you would altogether hold your peace, & it should be your wisdome. | O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom.
Heare now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips. | Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips.
Wil you speake wickedly for God? and talke deceitfully for him? | Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him?
Will ye accept his person? Will yee contend for God? | Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God?
Is it good that hee should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, doe ye so mocke him? | Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye so mock him?
He will surely reprooue you, if yee doe secretly accept persons. | He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons.
Shall not his excellencie make you afraid? and his dread fall vpon you? | Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you?
Your remembrances are like vnto ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay. | Your remembrances are like unto ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay.
Hold your peace, let me alone that I may speake, and let come on me what will. | Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will.
Wherefore doe I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand? | Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand?
Though hee slay mee, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintaine mine owne wayes before him. | Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
Hee also shall be my saluation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him. | He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.
Heare diligently my speach, and my declaration with your eares. | Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears.
Behold now, I haue ordered my cause, I know that I shall be iustified. | Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified.
Who is hee that will plead with me? for now if I hold my tongue, I shall giue vp the ghost. | Who is he that will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall give up the ghost.
Only doe not two things vnto me: then will I not hide my selfe from thee. | Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee.
Withdrawe thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make mee afraid. | Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid.
Then call thou, and I will answere: or let me speake, and answere thou mee. | Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me.
How many are mine iniquities and sinnes? make mee to knowe my transgression, and my sinne. | How many are mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin.
Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thine enemie? | Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thine enemy?
Wilt thou breake a leafe driuen to and fro? and wilt thou pursue the drie stubble? | Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro? and wilt thou pursue the dry stubble?
For thou writest bitter things against mee, and makest me to possesse the iniquities of my youth. | For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth.
Thou puttest my feete also in the stockes, and lookest narrowly vnto all my pathes; thou settest a print vpon the heeles of my feete. | Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly unto all my paths; thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet.
And hee, as a rotten thing consumeth, as a garment that is moth-eaten. | And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth eaten.
