|---|---|---|
아들아, 내 말을 받아들이고 내 훈계를 간직하여라. | My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
지혜로운 말에 귀를 기울이고 바른 판단에 마음을 두어라. | So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
슬기를 찾아 구하고 바른 판단을 얻고 싶다고 소리쳐 불러라. | Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
은을 찾아 헤매듯 그것을 구하고 숨은 보화를 파헤치듯 그것을 찾아라. | If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
| Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.
| For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
| He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
| He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
| Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
슬기가 네 속에 깃들이고 지식이 네 마음에 기쁨이 된다. | When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
참변이 도사린 길에서 벗어나고 거짓말하는 자의 손에서 빠져 나온다. | To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;
그들은 올바른 길을 버리고 컴컴한 뒷골목을 찾아 | Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
나쁜 짓만 즐기고 사기치며 좋아하는 자들이요, | Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;
| Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:
그제야 너는 탕녀의 유혹에서 벗어나고 남의 계집이 꾀는 말에 넘어가지 않는다. | To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;
| Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.
| For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.
| None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.
| That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.
| For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.
| But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.
