1	바룩에게 내리신 약속 요시야의 아들 여호야킴이 유다 왕이 된 지 사 년째 되던 해에 예언자 예레미야는 네리야의 아들 바룩에게 하느님의 말씀을 불러주어 받아쓰게 한 다음, 바룩에게 내리는 말씀을 이렇게 전하였다.	The word that Jeremiah the prophet spake unto Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,
2	"바룩아, 나 야훼가 이스라엘의 하느님으로서 너에게 말한다.	Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel, unto thee, O Baruch;
3	나는 네가 하는 말을 들었다. '아, 나는 끝장이다. 가뜩이나 고생스러운데 야훼마저 나를 괴롭히시니, 나는 한숨 쉴 힘조차 없고, 조금도 안심할 수가 없구나.'	Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the Lord hath added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.
4	내 말을 들어라. 나는 세웠다가도 헐 수 있고 심었다가도 뽑을 수 있다.	Thus shalt thou say unto him, The Lord saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.
5	네가 이제 큰일을 도모한다마는, 그만두어라. 내가 곧 모든 사람에게 재앙을 내리겠지만, 너만은 어디 가든지 목숨을 건지도록 보살펴 주리라. 이는 내 말이라, 어김이 없다."	And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the Lord: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.
