1	요시아의 등극:그의 종교 개혁 요시아는 팔 세에 왕위에 올라 예루살렘에서 삼십일 년간 다스렸다. 그의 어머니는 보스캇 출신인 아다야의 딸로서 이름을 여디다라 하였다.	Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath.
2	그는 야훼의 눈에 드는 바른 정치를 폈다. 모든 일을 태조 다윗을 본받아 한 발짝도 어긋나지 않고 그대로 살았다.	And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.
3	야훼의 법전이 발견됨 요시아 제십팔년에, 왕은 므술람의 손자요 아살리야의 아들인 공보대신 사반을 야훼의 전으로 보내며 일렀다.	And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of the Lord, saying,
4	"대사제 힐키야에게 가서 이렇게 말하시오. '백성이 야훼의 전에 바친 헌금을 야훼의 전 문지기에게서 받아내어	Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the silver which is brought into the house of the Lord, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people:
5	야훼의 전 공사감독들에게 주어 수리 공사 하는 사람들에게 전하도록 하시오.	And let them deliver it into the hand of the doers of the work, that have the oversight of the house of the Lord: and let them give it to the doers of the work which is in the house of the Lord, to repair the breaches of the house,
6	목수와 돌 쌓는 사람이나 미장이에게 품값을 주고 수리하는 데 쓸 목재와 석재를 사도록 하시오.	Unto carpenters, and builders, and masons, and to buy timber and hewn stone to repair the house.
7	그러나 일단 돈을 내준 다음에는 계산하지 마시오. 그들은 정직하게 일할 것이오."	Howbeit there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand, because they dealt faithfully.
8	대사제 힐키야는 야훼의 전에서 법전을 찾았다고 하며 그 책을 공보대신 사반에게 주었다. 그것을 읽은	And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
9	공보대신 사반은 왕에게 나아가 왕의 신하들이 성전 안에 보관되어 있던 은을 쏟아 야훼의 전을 수리하는 공사 감독들에게 넘겨주었다고 보고하였다.	And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Thy servants have gathered the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the house of the Lord.
10	그리고 나서 공보대신 사반은 왕에게 "대사제 힐키야가 저에게 책을 한 권 주었습니다." 하면서 왕의 면전에서 크게 읽었다.	And Shaphan the scribe shewed the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.
11	그 율법책의 내용을 듣자 왕은 자기의 옷을 찢었다.	And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes.
12	그리고는 대사제 힐키야, 사반의 아들 아히캄, 미가야의 아들 악볼, 공보대신 사반과 시종 아사야에게 명하였다.	And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asahiah a servant of the king’s, saying,
13	"이번에 찾아낸 이 책에 여러 가지 말씀이 기록되어 있는데 그것에 대하여 나와 온 유다 백성이 어떻게 해야 할 것인지 야훼께 나가 여쭈어보시오. 이 책에 기록되어 있는 말씀대로 하라고 하셨는데, 우리 선조들이 그 말씀을 따르지 않았으므로 우리가 불길 같은 야훼의 진노를 사게 되었소."	Go ye, enquire of the Lord for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the Lord that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.
14	대사제 힐키야와 아히캄, 악볼, 사반, 아사야는 여예언자 훌다를 찾아갔다. 훌다는 하르하스의 손자요 디크와의 아들인 의상담당관 살룸의 아내였다. 그들이 예루살렘 신시가에 살고 있는 훌다에게 가서 용건을 말하자,	So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college;) and they communed with her.
15	훌다는 이렇게 대답하였다. "여러분을 나에게 보내신 그분에게 가서 이스라엘의 하느님 야훼의 말씀이라고 하며 이렇게 전하시오.	And she said unto them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Tell the man that sent you to me,
16	'나 야훼가 선언한다. 유다 왕이 읽는 책에 적혀 있는 재앙을 내가 이제 이 곳과 이 곳 국민들에게 내리리라.	Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah hath read:
17	그들은 나를 저버리고 저희 손으로 만들어 세운 온갖 우상에게 제물을 살라 바쳐 나의 속을 썩여주었다. 그런즉 나의 분노가 이 곳에 불길같이 떨어지면, 아무도 그 불을 끄지 못하리라.'	Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.
18	야훼께 문의하라고 여러분을 보낸 유다 왕에게 가서 이렇게 전하시오. '이스라엘의 하느님 나 야훼가 선언한다. 너는 나의 말을 받아들였다.	But to the king of Judah which sent you to enquire of the Lord, thus shall ye say to him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, As touching the words which thou hast heard;
19	이 곳이 쑥밭이 되고 여기 사는 사람들이 저주받으리라고 한 나의 말을 듣고 너는 눈앞이 캄캄해져서 내 앞에 무릎을 꿇었다. 네가 이렇게 내 앞에서 옷을 찢고 통곡하므로 나도 너의 소리를 들어주기로 하였다. 이는 나의 말이라, 어김이 없다.	Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before the Lord, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the Lord.
20	네가 세상을 떠나 조상들에게로 돌아가는 날, 너의 무덤에 고이 안장하게 하리라. 내가 이 곳에 내릴 재앙을 너는 네 눈으로 하나도 보지 않으리라.'" 사람들이 돌아와 이 말을 어전에 아뢰었다.	Behold therefore, I will gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered into thy grave in peace; and thine eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again.
