절	공동번역 개정판 (1999)	King James Version
1	그 때에 예언자 하깨와 이또의 아들 예언자 즈가리야가 유다와 예루살렘에 있는 유다인들에게 이스라엘을 거느리시는 하느님의 이름으로 그의 뜻을 일러주었다.	Then the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied unto the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, even unto them.
2	그러자 스알디엘의 아들 즈루빠벨과 요사닥의 아들 예수아는 곧 예루살렘에 있는 하느님의 성전을 다시 세우기 시작하였다. 하느님께서 보내신 예언자들의 끊임없는 격려를 받으며 일을 진행하는데,	Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem: and with them were the prophets of God helping them.
3	유프라테스 서부 지방 총독 다뜨내가 스달보즈내를 비롯한 동료 관리들을 거느리고 와서 이렇게 물었다. "누구의 허락을 맡고 재목을 제대로 써가며 이 집을 짓고 있느냐?	At the same time came to them Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shethar–boznai, and their companions, and said thus unto them, Who hath commanded you to build this house, and to make up this wall?
4	이 공사 감독들은 어떤 사람들이냐?"	Then said we unto them after this manner, What are the names of the men that make this building?
5	그러나 하느님께서 유다 장로들을 굽어보시는데 누가 일을 중단시킬 수 있으랴. 그리하여 그들은 이 일을 다리우스에게 알리고 하회를 기다리는 수밖에 없었다.	But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, that they could not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then they returned answer by letter concerning this matter.
6	유프라테스 서부 지방 총독 다뜨내가 스달보즈내를 비롯한 동료 관리들과 유프라테스 서부 지방에 사는 아바르사인들과 함께 다리우스 황제에게 장계를 올렸다.	The copy of the letter that Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shethar–boznai, and his companions the Apharsachites, which were on this side the river, sent unto Darius the king:
7	그 장계의 내용은 다음과 같다. "다리우스 폐하, 만수무강을 빕니다.	They sent a letter unto him, wherein was written thus; Unto Darius the king, all peace.
8	폐하께 아뢰옵는 것은 다름이 아니오라, 우리가 유다 도에 가서 큰 신전을 보았습니다. 유다인들은 장로들의 지휘 아래 돌을 다듬어 벽을 쌓고 안에는 널빤지를 입히고 있었습니다. 빈틈없이 건축이 진행되고 있기에,	Be it known unto the king, that we went into the province of Judea, to the house of the great God, which is builded with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls, and this work goeth fast on, and prospereth in their hands.
9	장로들에게 누구의 허락을 받아 재목을 제대로 써가며 집을 짓느냐고 물었습니다.	Then asked we those elders, and said unto them thus, Who commanded you to build this house, and to make up these walls?
10	또 폐하께 알려드려야 하겠기에 그 공사를 책임진 두목들은 누구냐고 물었습니다. 이에 그 명단을 적어올립니다.	We asked their names also, to certify thee, that we might write the names of the men that were the chief of them.
11	그들의 대답은 이러했습니다. '우리는 하늘과 땅을 내신 하느님을 섬기는 사람들로서 이 전을 다시 세우는 중이오. 오래 전에 이스라엘의 대왕께서 완공하셨던 것인데,	And thus they returned us answer, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and build the house that was builded these many years ago, which a great king of Israel builded and set up.
12	하늘을 내신 하느님께서는 우리 선조들의 죄 때문에 화가 나시어 우리 선조들을 갈대아인 바빌론 왕 느부갓네살에게 넘겨주셨소. 그리하여 이 전은 헐리고 백성은 바빌론으로 사로잡혀 갔던 것이오.	But after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven unto wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon.
13	고레스 폐하께서는 바빌론 왕이 되시던 제일년에 이 하느님의 성전을 다시 세우라는 칙령을 내리셨소.	But in the first year of Cyrus the king of Babylon the same king Cyrus made a decree to build this house of God.
14	그 때 바빌론 신전 본관에는 느부갓네살이 이 예루살렘 하느님의 성전 본관에서 가져간 금은 기구들이 보관되어 있었소. 고레스 폐하께서는 세스바쌀을 총독으로 임명하시고 바빌론 성전에 있는 그 기구들을 꺼내주셨소.	And the vessels also of gold and silver of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought them into the temple of Babylon, those did Cyrus the king take out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered unto one, whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor;
15	폐하께서는 그 기구들을 가지고 예루살렘으로 돌아가 성전에다 두라고 하시면서, 하느님의 성전을 제자리에 다시 세우라고 하셨던 것이오.	And said unto him, Take these vessels, go, carry them into the temple that is in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be builded in his place.
16	그리하여 세스바쌀은 예루살렘으로 돌아와 하느님의 성전터를 잡아놓았소. 그 후로 이제까지 일을 하였지만, 아직 일이 끝나지 않았소.'	Then came the same Sheshbazzar, and laid the foundation of the house of God which is in Jerusalem: and since that time even until now hath it been in building, and yet it is not finished.
17	그러하오니 폐하께서만 좋으시다면, 예루살렘에 있는 이 신전을 다시 세우라고 고레스 폐하께서 칙령을 내리신 일이 과연 있는지, 바빌론 황실 문서고를 찾아보심이 좋을 줄로 아룁니다. 그리고 이 일을 어떻게 하면 좋을지 폐하께서 결정을 내려주십시오."	Now therefore, if it seem good to the king, let there be search made in the king’s treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it be so, that a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem, and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter.
