1	계약을 지킬 때 받을 복 그러나 너희가 만일 너희 하느님 야훼께서 하신 말씀을 귀담아들어, 내가 너희에게 내리는 그의 모든 명령을 성심껏 실천하면, 너희 하느님 야훼께서는 땅 위에 사는 만백성 위에 너희를 높여주실 것이다.	And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2	너희 하느님 야훼의 말씀을 순종하기만 하면 다음과 같은 온갖 복이 너희를 사로잡을 것이다.	And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.
3	너희는 도시에서도 복을 받고 시골에서도 복을 받으리라.	Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
4	너희 몸의 소생과 밭의 소출과 소 새끼나 양 새끼 할 것 없이 너희 가축에게서 난 모든 새끼가 복을 받으리라.	Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
5	너희 광주리와 반죽 그릇이 복을 받으리라.	Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
6	너희는 들어와도 복을 받고 나가도 복을 받으리라.	Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
7	너희에게 달려드는 원수들을 야훼께서 쳐부수어 주실 것이다. 그들은 한 길로 몰려왔다가 일곱 길로 뿔뿔이 도망치리라.	The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
8	야훼께서 명령을 내리시면 너희 창고와 너희가 손을 대는 모든 일에 복이 넘치리라. 이렇게 너희 하느님 야훼께서 너희에게 주신 땅에서 너희는 복을 받을 것이다.	The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
9	너희 하느님 야훼의 계명을 따라 그가 지시하신 길로만 걸으면, 야훼께서는 너희에게 맹세하신 대로 너희를 성별된 당신의 백성으로 세워주실 것이다.	The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways.
10	야훼의 이름을 받은 백성이라는 것을 알고 땅 위에 사는 모든 백성이 너희를 두려워하게 되리라.	And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord; and they shall be afraid of thee.
11	야훼께서 너희 선조들에게 맹세하여 너희에게 주겠다 하신 땅에서 너희 몸의 소생과 가축의 새끼와 밭의 소출에 복이 흘러 넘치게 해주실 것이다.	And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
12	야훼께서는 당신의 풍성한 보물 창고인 하늘을 여시어 너희 밭에 철 따라 비를 내려주시고 너희가 손으로 하는 모든 일에 복을 주실 것이다. 그리하여 너는 많은 민족에게 꾸어주기는 해도 남에게 꾸어 쓰는 일은 없을 것이다.	The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
13	내가 오늘 너희에게 내리는 너희 하느님 야훼의 명령을 들어 성심껏 실천하기만 하면, 야훼께서는 너희를 머리로 삼으면 삼으셨지, 꼬리가 되게 하지는 않으실 것이다. 그리하여 너는 다만 치솟을 뿐 내리밀리는 일은 없을 것이다.	And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
14	그러니 너희는 내가 오늘 지시하는 이 모든 말을 어기지 마라. 한걸음도 빗나가는 일 없이, 다른 신들을 따라 그 신들을 섬기지 않도록 해야 한다.	And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
15	계약을 어길 때 받을 저주 그러나 너희가 너희 하느님 야훼께서 하신 말씀을 듣지 않고 내가 오늘 너희에게 지시하는 그의 모든 계명과 규정을 성심껏 실천하지 않는다면 다음과 같은 온갖 저주가 너희를 사로잡을 것이다.	But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
16	너희는 도시에서도 저주를 받고 시골에서도 저주를 받으리라.	Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.
17	너희 광주리와 반죽 그릇이 저주를 받으리라.	Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store.
18	너희 몸에서 태어난 소생과 밭의 소출과 소 새끼와 양 새끼가 모두 저주를 받으리라.	Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
19	너희는 들어와도 저주를 받고 나가도 저주를 받으리라.	Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
20	야훼께서는 너희에게 저주를 내려 너희가 손을 대는 모든 일을 뒤엎으시어 뒤죽박죽이 되게 하실 것이다. 당신을 저버리고 못할 짓을 한 까닭에, 마침내 너희를 쓸어버리시리니, 너희는 이내 망하고 말 것이다.	The Lord shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.
21	야훼께서는 너희가 들어가 차지하려는 땅에서 너희로 하여금 염병에 걸려 끝장나게 하고 마실 것이다.	The Lord shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it.
22	야훼께서 폐병과 열병과 염병을 내려 너희를 치시고 무더위와 열풍을 몰아오고 깜부기병을 내려 너희를 치실 것이다. 이런 것들이 덮쳐와 너희는 결국 망하고 말 것이다.	The Lord shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.
23	너희가 이고 있는 하늘은 놋이 되고 딛고 서 있는 땅은 쇠가 될 것이다.	And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.
24	야훼께서는 너희 땅에 모래와 티끌을 비처럼 내리실 것이다. 이런 것들이 하늘에서 너희 위에 내려 너희는 결국 쓸려가고 말 것이다.	The Lord shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
25	야훼께서는 너희를 원수에게 패하게 하실 것이다. 그래서 너희가 한 길로 쳐나갔다가 일곱 길로 뿔뿔이 도망치게 되면, 땅 위에 있는 모든 나라가 너희 모양을 보고 두려워 떨 것이며,	The Lord shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
26	너희 시체는 온갖 공중의 새와 땅의 짐승이 거리낌 없이 뜯어먹으리라.	And thy carcase shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray them away.
27	야훼께서는 이집트의 악질 종기와 치질과 옴과 습진을 내려 너희를 치시리니 너희가 낫지 못하리라.	The Lord will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.
28	야훼께서는 너희를 쳐서 미치게도 하시고 눈멀게도 하실 것이다. 너희는 정신을 잃고	The Lord shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart:
29	앞이 캄캄하여 허둥대는 장님처럼 대낮에도 허둥대게 되리니, 무엇 하나 제대로 되는 일이 없을 것이다. 언제까지나 짓밟히고 착취를 당하건만 너희를 빼내어 줄 이도 없을 것이다.	And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee.
30	약혼한 여자가 다른 사내에게 농락당하고, 집을 지어놓고도 그 집에서 살지 못하며 포도원을 가꾸어놓고도 맛을 보지 못하리라.	Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof.
31	너희 눈앞에서 너희 소를 잡는데도 입에 대보지 못하고 너희 눈앞에서 몰려간 너희 나귀도 돌아오지 않겠으며, 너희 양떼가 원수의 손에 넘어가는데도 너희를 도와줄 이가 없으리라.	Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to rescue them.
32	너희 아들딸이 다른 민족의 손에 넘어가는 것을 너희 눈으로 보아야 할 것이며 눈이 빠지도록 언제까지나 기다려보아야 속수무책이리라.	Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand.
33	너희 땅에서 애써 거둔 곡식을 너희가 알지 못하는 백성이 다 먹어버리리라. 이렇게 너희는 언제까지나 억눌리고 짓밟히리라.	The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway:
34	이 꼴을 너희 눈으로 보다 못해 너희는 마침내 미쳐버리리라.	So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
35	야훼께서는 너희를 쳐서 고약한 악질 종기가 무릎과 허벅지에 나게 하여 발바닥에서 정수리에까지 퍼지게 하실 것이다.	The Lord shall smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head.
36	야훼께서는 너희가 받들어 세운 왕과 함께 너희를, 너희와 너희 선조들이 알지 못하던 민족에게 끌려가게 하실 것이다. 너희는 거기에서 나무나 돌로 만든 다른 신들을 섬겨야 하리라.	The Lord shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.
37	야훼께서 너희를 쫓아보내신 곳에 사는 백성들이 너희를 보고 충격을 받아 속담을 만들고 너희를 빈정거릴 것이다.	And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the Lord shall lead thee.
38	밭에 씨를 아무리 많이 뿌려도 메뚜기떼가 먹어버려 거둘 것이 얼마 되지 아니하겠고,	Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it.
39	아무리 애써서 포도원을 가꾸고 심어도 벌레가 갉아먹어, 마실 포도주도 저장해 둘 포도주도 없으리라.	Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them.
40	또 너희 온 지경 안에 올리브 나무들이 있어도 그 열매가 떨어져서 몸에 바를 기름이 없으리라.	Thou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy coasts, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall cast his fruit.
41	아들딸을 낳아도 너희 앞에 하나 남지 않고 모두 포로로 붙잡혀가리라.	Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity.
42	너희가 가꾸는 나무나 밭에 익은 곡식은 해충이 모조리 갉아먹으리라.	All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume.
43	너희 가운데 몸붙여 살던 떠돌이가 너희를 밟고 일어서서 점점 치솟고 너희는 점점 내리밀려	The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low.
44	그에게서 꾸기는 해도 그에게 꾸어주지는 못하리라. 그리하여 그가 도리어 머리가 되고 너희는 꼬리가 되리라.	He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.
45	이 모든 저주가 너희를 덮쳐 사로잡는 날, 너희는 망하고 말 것이다. 이는 너희가 너희 하느님 야훼께서 하신 말씀을 듣지 않고 그가 지시하신 계명과 규정을 지키지 않았기 때문이다.	Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:
46	이런 것들이 너희와 너희 후손을 언제까지나 일깨워줄 표와 표적이 될 것이다.	And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.
47	모든 것이 남아 넘쳐서 기쁘고 즐거운 나머지 너희 하느님 야훼를 섬기지 않은 까닭에	Because thou servedst not the Lord thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;
48	너희는 마침내 굶주리고 목이 타며, 헐벗은 몸으로 아무것도 없이 야훼께서 보내신 원수를 섬겨야 하리라. 너희는 그가 목에 씌워준 쇠멍에를 벗지 못하고 짓눌려 죽고 말 것이다.	Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the Lord shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
49	야훼께서는 먼 땅 끝에서 한 민족을 일으켜 너희를 치게 하실 것이다. 독수리처럼 내리덮칠 그 민족은 너희와 말이 통하지 않는 민족,	The Lord shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;
50	노인을 존대하지도 않고 어린이를 불쌍히 여기지도 아니하는 몰인정한 민족이다.	A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor shew favour to the young:
51	그들은 너희 가축 새끼들과 너희 땅의 소출을 먹어치울 것이다. 그리하여 결국 너희는 멸망하고 말리라. 곡식과 술과 기름, 소 새끼와 양 새끼 하나 남아 있지 않을 것이다. 그리하여 결국 너희는 망하고 말리라.	And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which also shall not leave thee either corn, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee.
52	그들은 너희를 온 나라 안에 있는 모든 성 안에 몰아넣고 마침내 너희가 그토록 믿는 높고 튼튼한 성벽들이 허물어지기까지 공격할 것이다. 너희 하느님 야훼께서 너희에게 주신 땅에 있는 모든 성 안에 너희를 몰아넣고 공격하리라.	And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the Lord thy God hath given thee.
53	너희 원수가 이렇게 너를 포위하고 몰아치면 너희는 자기 뱃속에서 나온 소생, 너희 하느님 야훼께서 주신 아들딸을 먹게 될 것이다.	And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the Lord thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:
54	너희 가운데 유난히 호강하던 나약한 사람들까지도 동기나 가슴에 안기는 아내나 죽지 않고 남은 자식조차 외면하고	So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave:
55	자기가 먹는 자식의 고기를 아무에게도 나누어주려고 하지 않을 것이다. 원수가 너희 모든 성을 포위하고 몰아쳐 아무것도 남겨두지 않아 마침내 이런 지경에 이를 것이다.	So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.
56	너희 가운데 호강하며 하느작거리던 여자, 너무 호강하여 발바닥을 땅에 대본 일도 없는 여자가 자기를 가슴에 안아주는 남편이나 아들딸을 외면하고,	The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,
57	궁한 나머지 제 다리 사이에서 나온 자식을 태째 몰래 먹어치울 것이다. 원수가 너희 모든 성을 포위하고 몰아치면 마침내 이런 지경에 이를 것이다.	And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.
58	너희가 만일 너희 하느님의 존엄한 이름 야훼를 두려워할 줄 모르고 이 책에 기록되어 있는 법의 한 조목 한 조목을 성심껏 지키지 않는다면,	If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD;
59	야훼께서는 너희와 너희 후손에게 재앙을 내리실 것이다. 떠나지 아니하는 무서운 재앙, 고약한 악질로 치실 것이다.	Then the Lord will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.
60	너희가 그토록 무서워하던 이집트의 전염병을 다시 끌어들이시리니 그것이 너희에게 붙어 떨어지지 않을 것이다.	Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee.
61	야훼께서는 이 법전에 기록되어 있지 않은 온갖 병, 온갖 재앙을 너희 위에 쏟으실 것이다. 그래서 너희는 멸망하고 말 것이다.	Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the Lord bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
62	너희는 하늘의 별만큼 많아지겠지만, 결국 몇 사람 남지 않을 것이다. 너희 하느님 야훼의 말씀을 듣지 않으면 그렇게 될 수밖에 없다.	And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the Lord thy God.
63	야훼께서는 너희를 잘되게 해주시고 또 불어나게 하시기를 좋아하신 그만큼 너희를 멸종시켜 쓸어버리시는 일도 좋아하실 것이다. 너희가 들어가 차지할 땅에서 너희는 뿌리뽑히고 말리라.	And it shall come to pass, that as the Lord rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the Lord will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.
64	야훼께서는 땅 이 끝에서 저 끝까지 온 땅에 있는 만백성 가운데 너희를 흩으실 것이다. 그러면 너희는 너희나 너희 선조들이 알지 못하던 신들, 나무나 돌로 만든 다른 신들을 섬겨야 하리라.	And the Lord shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.
65	그 민족들 틈에서 너희는 안식처가 없어 발바닥 쉴 곳조차 없으리라. 거기에서 야훼께서는 너희 심장이 떨리고 앞이 캄캄해지고 입맛이 떨어지게 하시리라.	And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the Lord shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:
66	그리하여 하루 앞을 내다볼 수 없는 너희 목숨은 하루살이 같아 밤이나 낮이나 벌벌 떨며 자기 목숨을 믿을 수 없어 하게 되리라.	And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life:
67	눈에 보이느니 가슴 떨리게 하는 일뿐이라, 아침에는 '언제 저녁이 오려나!', 저녁에는 '언제 아침이 오려나!' 하는 신세가 되리라.	In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
68	야훼께서는 너희를 배에 실어 이집트로 데려가기도 하시리라. 다시는 보이지 않으리라고 약속해 주셨던 그 길로 너희를 끌고 가시리라. 거기에서 원수에게 남종 여종으로 팔려고 너희 몸을 내놓아도 살 사람마저 없으리라."	And the Lord shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.
69	이것이 야훼께서 모세에게 명령하여, 모압 땅에서 이스라엘 백성과 맺게 하신 계약의 조문들이다. 야훼께서는 이 계약 외에도 호렙에서 그들과 계약을 맺으신 적이 있다.	—
