1	단 지파의 이동 에브라임 산악 지대에 미가라 하는 사람이 있었다.	And there was a man of mount Ephraim, whose name was Micah.
2	그가 자기 어머니에게 말하였다. "어머니는 은화 천백 냥을 잃어버린 일이 있으시죠? 그 때 어머니는 그것을 훔친 사람을 저주하셨습니다. 저도 이 귀로 어머니의 말씀을 들었습니다. 그런데 보십시오. 그 돈이 여기 있습니다. 그것을 훔친 것은 바로 저입니다. 그의 어머니가 대답하였다. "그래? 괜찮다. 너는 야훼께 복을 받아라."	And he said unto his mother, The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from thee, about which thou cursedst, and spakest of also in mine ears, behold, the silver is with me; I took it. And his mother said, Blessed be thou of the Lord, my son.
3	여기 있으니 받아주십시오." 아들은 돈 천백 냥을 어머니에게 돌려드렸다. 어머니는 그것을 받고 말하였다. "내가 이 돈을 이 손으로 야훼께 거룩하게 바쳐, 내 아들을 위하여 신상을 부어 만들리라."	And when he had restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, his mother said, I had wholly dedicated the silver unto the Lord from my hand for my son, to make a graven image and a molten image: now therefore I will restore it unto thee.
4	그리고 그의 어머니는 은화 이백 냥을 은장이에게 주어 신상을 만들게 하였다. 미가는 그 신상을 집에 모셨다.	Yet he restored the money unto his mother; and his mother took two hundred shekels of silver, and gave them to the founder, who made thereof a graven image and a molten image: and they were in the house of Micah.
5	미가는 그 신상을 모실 신당을 짓고 에봇과 데라빔을 만들고 아들 하나를 사제로 임명하였다.	And the man Micah had an house of gods, and made an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.
6	그 때는 이스라엘에 왕이 없어서 사람마다 제멋대로 하던 시대였다.	In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
7	유다 지파에 속한 유다 베들레헴에 한 젊은이가 있었는데, 그는 레위인으로서 거기에 몸붙여 살고 있었다.	And there was a young man out of Beth–lehem–judah of the family of Judah, who was a Levite, and he sojourned there.
8	그는 제가 살던 성읍 유다 베들레헴을 떠나 다른 데 몸붙일 곳이 없나 찾아나섰다. 그래서 돌아다니다가 에브라임 산악 지대에 들어서 미가의 집에 다다랐다.	And the man departed out of the city from Beth–lehem–judah to sojourn where he could find a place: and he came to mount Ephraim to the house of Micah, as he journeyed.
9	미가는 그에게 어디에서 오는 길이냐고 물었다. 그가 대답하였다. "나는 레위인입니다. 유다 베들레헴에 살다가 어디 몸붙일 데라도 없는가 하고 찾아 돌아다니는 길입니다."	And Micah said unto him, Whence comest thou? And he said unto him, I am a Levite of Beth–lehem–judah, and I go to sojourn where I may find a place.
10	"내 집에 있으면서 어른이 되어주시고 사제가 되어주시오. 그러면 일 년에 은화 열 냥을 드리리다. 그리고 의식주 문제는 우리가 해결해 드리지요." 미가는 이렇게 그 레위인의 귀에 솔깃한 말을 하였다.	And Micah said unto him, Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten shekels of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals. So the Levite went in.
11	레위인은 그의 집에 머물기를 승낙하였다. 그 젊은이는 미가의 친자식처럼 되었다.	And the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man was unto him as one of his sons.
12	그 젊은 레위인은 임직식을 거쳐 미가의 사제가 되어 그의 집에 머물렀다.	And Micah consecrated the Levite; and the young man became his priest, and was in the house of Micah.
13	미가는 이제 레위인을 사제로 삼았으니 야훼께서 자기에게 잘해 주시리라고 믿었다.	Then said Micah, Now know I that the Lord will do me good, seeing I have a Levite to my priest.
