1	머리말 이 책을 데오필로님께 드린다. 나는 먼젓번 책에서 예수의 모든 행적과 가르치심을 다 기록하였다.	The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
2	곧 예수께서 당신이 뽑으신 사도들에게 성령의 힘으로 여러 가지 지시를 내리신 다음 승천하신 그 날까지의 일을 시초에서부터 낱낱이 기록하였다.	Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
3	예수께서는 돌아가신 뒤에 다시 살아나셔서 사십 일 동안 사도들에게 자주 나타나시어 여러 가지 확실한 증거로써 당신이 여전히 살아 계시다는 것을 보여주시며 하느님 나라에 관한 말씀을 들려주셨다.	To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
4	예수께서는 사도들과 함께 계신 자리에서 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "너희는 예루살렘을 떠나지 말고 내가 전에 일러준 아버지의 약속을 기다려라.	And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
5	요한은 물로 세례를 베풀었지만 오래지 않아 너희는 성령으로 세례를 받게 될 것이다."	For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
6	예수의 승천 사도들은 다 같이 모인 자리에서 예수께 이렇게 물었다. "주님, 주님께서 이스라엘 왕국을 다시 세워주실 때가 바로 지금입니까?"	When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
7	예수께서는 이렇게 대답하셨다. "그 때와 시기는 아버지께서 당신의 권능으로 결정하셨으니 너희가 알 바 아니다.	And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
8	그러나 성령이 너희에게 오시면 너희는 힘을 받아 예루살렘과 온 유다와 사마리아뿐만 아니라 땅 끝에 이르기까지 어디에서나 나의 증인이 될 것이다."	But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
9	예수께서는 이 말씀을 하시고 사도들이 보는 앞에서 승천하셨는데 마침내 구름에 싸여 그 모습이 보이지 않게 되셨다.	And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10	예수께서 하늘로 올라가시는 동안 그들은 하늘만을 쳐다보고 있었다. 그 때 흰 옷을 입은 사람 둘이 갑자기 그들 앞에 나타나서	And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11	이렇게 말했다. "갈릴래아 사람들아, 왜 너희는 여기에 서서 하늘만 쳐다보고 있느냐? 너희 곁을 떠나 승천하신 저 예수께서는 너희가 보는 앞에서 하늘로 올라가시던 그 모양으로 다시 오실 것이다."	Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
12	유다의 자리를 채운 마티아 그 뒤 사도들은 그 올리브라고 하는 산을 떠나 안식일에 걸어도 괜찮을 거리에 있는 예루살렘으로 돌아왔다.	Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day’s journey.
13	성안에 들어온 사도들은 자기네가 묵고 있던 이층 방으로 올라갔는데 그 일행은 베드로, 요한, 야고보, 안드레아, 필립보, 토마, 바르톨로메오, 마태오, 알패오의 아들 야고보, 혁명당원 시몬, 야고보의 아들 유다 들이었다.	And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alpheus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.
14	그 자리에는 예수의 어머니 마리아를 비롯하여 여러 여자들과 예수의 형제들도 함께 있었다. 그들은 모두 마음을 모아 기도에만 힘썼다.	These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
15	그 무렵 어느 날 교우가 백이십 명 가량 모여 있었는데 그 자리에 베드로가 일어나 이렇게 말하였다.	And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)
16	"교우 여러분, 예수를 잡은 자들의 앞잡이가 된 유다에 관하여 성령께서 다윗의 입을 빌려 예언하신 말씀은 정녕 이루어져야만 했습니다.	Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.
17	그는 본래 우리 열두 사람 중 하나로서 우리와 함께 일하던 사람이었습니다.	For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.
18	그는 주님을 판 돈으로 밭을 샀습니다. 그러나 그는 땅에 거꾸러져서 배가 갈라져 내장이 온통 터져 나왔습니다.	Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.
19	예루살렘의 시민들이 모두 이 사실을 전해 듣고 그 밭을 그들 말로 '아겔다마'라고 불렀습니다. '피의 밭'이란 뜻입니다.	And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.
20	시편에, '그의 집을 폐허로 만드시고 아무도 거기에 드는 이 없게 하여주십시오.' 또 '다른 사람으로 하여금 그의 자리를 차지하게 하여주십시오.' 라고 기록되어 있습니다.	For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.
21	그러므로 우리는 우리 주 예수께서 우리와 함께 지내오시는 동안, 곧 요한이 세례를 주던 때부터 예수께서 우리 곁을 떠나 승천하신 날까지 줄곧 우리와 같이 있던 사람 중에서	Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
22	하나를 뽑아 우리와 더불어 주 예수의 부활의 증인이 되게 해야 하겠습니다."	Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.
23	그들은 바르사빠라고도 하고 유스도라고도 하는 요셉과 마티아 두 사람을 천거한 다음	And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
24	이렇게 기도하였다. "모든 사람의 마음을 다 아시는 주님, 주님께서 이 두 사람 중 누구를 뽑으셨는지 알려주십시오.	And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,
25	유다는 사도직을 버리고 제 갈 곳으로 갔습니다. 그 직분을 누구에게 맡기시렵니까?"	That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.
26	그리고 나서 제비를 뽑았더니 마티아가 뽑혀서 열한 사도와 같이 사도직을 맡게 되었다.	And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
