1	은총의 선물을 잘 관리하는 자 그리스도께서 육체의 고통을 받으셨으니 여러분도 같은 각오로 정신을 무장하십시오. 육체의 고통을 받은 사람은 이미 죄와는 인연이 없습니다.	Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2	그러니 이제 여러분은 지상의 남은 생애를 인간의 욕정을 따라 살지 말고 하느님의 뜻을 따라 살아야 합니다.	That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
3	여러분은 과거에 이방인들이 즐겨하던 일을 하면서 살아왔습니다. 곧 방탕에 빠지고 욕정에 흐르고 술에 취하고 진탕 먹고 마시며 떠들어대고 가증한 우상 숭배를 일삼아 왔으니 그만하면 족하지 않습니까?	For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
4	이방인들은 여러분이 이제 자기네와 함께 방탕에 휩쓸리지 않는다고 해서 괴이하게 생각하며 욕설을 퍼붓고 있습니다.	Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
5	그들은 산 사람과 죽은 자를 심판하실 분 앞에서 바른 대로 고해야 할 것입니다.	Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
6	그래서 죽은 자들에게도 복음이 전해진 것입니다. 그것은 그들이 육체로는 인간이 받는 심판을 받았지만 영적으로는 하느님을 따라 살 수 있게 하려는 것이었습니다.	For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
7	세상의 종말이 가까이 왔으니 정신을 차려 마음을 가다듬고 기도하십시오.	But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
8	모든 일에 앞서 서로 진정으로 사랑하십시오. 사랑은 허다한 죄를 용서해 줍니다.	And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
9	여러분은 모두 나그네들이니 귀찮게 생각하지 말고 서로 극진히 대접하십시오.	Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
10	각자가 받은 은총의 선물이 무엇이든지, 그것을 가지고 서로 남을 위해서 봉사하십시오. 그리하여 하느님께서 주신 갖가지 은총을 잘 관리하는 사람이 되십시오.	As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11	설교의 직분을 맡은 사람은 하느님의 말씀을 전해야 하고 남을 도와주는 사람은 하느님께로부터 힘을 받은 사람답게 봉사해야 합니다. 그리하면 무슨 일에든지 하느님께서 예수 그리스도를 통해서 영광을 받으시게 될 것입니다. 그분은 영원토록 영광과 권세를 누리실 분이십니다. 아멘.	If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
12	그리스도인이 받을 고난 사랑하는 여러분, 시련의 불길이 여러분 가운데 일어나더라도 그것은 여러분을 시험하려는 것이니 무슨 큰일이나 생긴 것처럼 놀라지 마십시오.	Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
13	여러분은 그리스도의 고난에 참여하는 것이니 오히려 기뻐하십시오. 여러분은 그리스도께서 영광스럽게 나타나실 때에 기뻐서 뛰며 즐거워하게 될 것입니다.	But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
14	여러분이 그리스도 때문에 모욕을 당하면 행복합니다. 영광의 성령 곧 하느님의 성령이 여러분에게 머물러 계시기 때문입니다.	If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
15	여러분 중에는 아무도 살인자나 도둑이나 악한이나 사기한 따위가 되어 고난을 당하는 사람이 없도록 하십시오.	But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.
16	그러나 여러분이 그리스도인이기 때문에 고난을 당한다면 부끄러워하지 말고 오히려 그리스도인이 된 것을 하느님께 감사하십시오.	Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
17	심판의 때는 왔습니다. 하느님의 백성이 먼저 심판을 받을 것입니다. 하느님께서 당신의 백성인 우리를 먼저 심판하신다면 하느님의 복음을 믿지 않는 자들의 말로가 어떠하겠습니까?	For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
18	의로운 사람이 겨우 구원을 받는다면 경건치 못한 죄인은 어떻게 되겠습니까?	And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
19	그러므로 하느님의 뜻을 따라 고난을 받는 사람들은 착한 일을 행하면서 자기 영혼을 진실하신 창조주께 맡겨야 합니다.	Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
