1	병적 조사 이스라엘이 이집트에서 나온 그 이듬해 이월 일일, 야훼께서 시나이 광야의 만남의 장막에서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.	And the Lord spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,
2	"너희는 이스라엘 백성의 온 회중을 그 갈래와 가문별로 나누어 모든 장정을 일일이 호명하여 그 수를 세어가며 병적을 조사하여라.	Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the house of their fathers, with the number of their names, every male by their polls;
3	너는 아론과 함께 이스라엘 사람들 가운데서 전장에 나갈 수 있는 스무 살 이상 되는 모든 장정을 부대별로 병적부에 올려라.	From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies.
4	그리고 각 지파에서 가문의 어른을 한 사람씩 내어 너희를 돕게 하여라.	And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers.
5	너희를 도와줄 사람들의 명단은 다음과 같다. 르우벤 지파에서 스데울의 아들 엘리술,	And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you: of the tribe of Reuben; Elizur the son of Shedeur.
6	시므온 지파에서 수리사때의 아들 슬루미엘,	Of Simeon; Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
7	유다 지파에서 암미나답의 아들 나흐손,	Of Judah; Nahshon the son of Amminadab.
8	이싸갈 지파에서 수알의 아들 느다넬,	Of Issachar; Nethaneel the son of Zuar.
9	즈불룬 지파에서 헬론의 아들 엘리압,	Of Zebulun; Eliab the son of Helon.
10	요셉의 아들 중 에브라임 지파에서는 암미훗의 아들 엘리사마, 므나쎄 지파에서는 브다술의 아들 가믈리엘,	Of the children of Joseph: of Ephraim; Elishama the son of Ammihud: of Manasseh; Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
11	베냐민 지파에서 기드오니의 아들 아비단,	Of Benjamin; Abidan the son of Gideoni.
12	단 지파에서 암미사때의 아들 아히에젤,	Of Dan; Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
13	아셀 지파에서 오그란의 아들 바기엘,	Of Asher; Pagiel the son of Ocran.
14	가드 지파에서 드우엘의 아들 엘랴삽,	Of Gad; Eliasaph the son of Deuel.
15	납달리 지파에서 에난의 아들 아히라.	Of Naphtali; Ahira the son of Enan.
16	이들이 회중의 추대를 받아, 가문별 지파의 대표가 되어 이스라엘 각 군단을 지휘하는 사령관들이다."	These were the renowned of the congregation, princes of the tribes of their fathers, heads of thousands in Israel.
17	모세와 아론은 위에 지명된 사람들을 거느리고	And Moses and Aaron took these men which are expressed by their names:
18	이월 일일 온 회중을 소집하여 스무 살 이상 되는 사람의 이름을 불러 그 수를 세어가며 갈래와 가문별로 등록시켰다.	And they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month, and they declared their pedigrees after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, by their polls.
19	야훼께서 지시하신 대로 모세는 시나이 광야에서 그들을 병적부에 올렸다.	As the Lord commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.
20	이스라엘의 맏아들 르우벤의 후손을 각 갈래와 가문별로 족보를 따져가며 전장에 나갈 수 있는 스무 살 이상 되는 장정을 일일이 호명하여 그 수를 세었다.	And the children of Reuben, Israel’s eldest son, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
21	르우벤 지파에서 등록된 장정의 수는 사만 육천오백이었다.	Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Reuben, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.
22	시므온 후손을 각 갈래와 가문별로 족보를 따져가며 전장에 나갈 수 있는 스무 살 이상 되는 장정을 일일이 호명하여 그 수를 조사하였다.	Of the children of Simeon, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, those that were numbered of them, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
23	시므온 지파에서 등록된 장정의 수는 오만 구천삼백이었다.	Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.
24	가드 후손을 각 갈래와 가문별로 족보를 따져가며 전장에 나갈 수 있는 스무 살 이상 되는 장정을 일일이 호명하여 그 수를 조사하였다.	Of the children of Gad, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
25	가드 지파에서 등록된 장정의 수는 사만 오천육백오십이었다.	Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Gad, were forty and five thousand six hundred and fifty.
26	유다 후손을 각 갈래와 가문별로 족보를 따져가며 전장에 나갈 수 있는 스무 살 이상 되는 장정을 일일이 호명하여 그 수를 조사하였다.	Of the children of Judah, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
27	유다 지파에서 등록된 장정의 수는 칠만 사천육백이었다.	Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Judah, were threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred.
28	이싸갈의 후손을 각 갈래와 가문별로 족보를 따져가며 전장에 나갈 수 있는 스무 살 이상 되는 장정을 일일이 호명하여 그 수를 조사하였다.	Of the children of Issachar, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
29	이싸갈 지파에서 등록된 장정의 수는 오만 사천사백이었다.	Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred.
30	즈불룬 후손을 각 갈래와 가문별로 족보를 따져가며 전장에 나갈 수 있는 스무 살 이상 되는 장정을 일일이 호명하여 그 수를 조사하였다.	Of the children of Zebulun, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
31	즈불룬 지파에서 등록된 장정의 수는 오만 칠천사백이었다.	Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred.
32	요셉의 후손 가운데 에브라임 후손을 각 갈래와 가문별로 족보를 따져가며 전장에 나갈 수 있는 스무 살 이상 되는 장정을 일일이 호명하여 그 수를 조사하였다.	Of the children of Joseph, namely, of the children of Ephraim, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
33	에브라임 지파에서 등록된 장정의 수는 사만 오백이었다.	Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand and five hundred.
34	므나쎄 후손을 각 갈래와 가문별로 족보를 따져가며 전장에 나갈 수 있는 스무 살 이상 되는 장정을 일일이 호명하여 그 수를 조사하였다.	Of the children of Manasseh, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
35	므나쎄 지파에서 등록된 장정의 수는 삼만 이천이백이었다.	Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred.
36	베냐민 후손을 각 갈래와 가문별로 족보를 따져가며 전장에 나갈 수 있는 스무 살 이상 되는 장정을 일일이 호명하여 그 수를 조사하였다.	Of the children of Benjamin, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
37	베냐민 지파에서 등록된 장정의 수는 삼만 오천사백이었다.	Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty and five thousand and four hundred.
38	단 후손을 각 갈래와 가문별로 족보를 따져가며 전장에 나갈 수 있는 스무 살 이상 되는 장정을 일일이 호명하여 그 수를 조사하였다.	Of the children of Dan, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
39	단 지파에서 등록된 장정의 수는 육만 이천칠백이었다.	Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Dan, were threescore and two thousand and seven hundred.
40	아셀의 후손을 각 갈래와 가문별로 족보를 따져가며 전장에 나갈 수 있는 스무 살 이상 되는 장정을 일일이 호명하여 그 수를 조사하였다.	Of the children of Asher, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
41	아셀 지파에서 등록된 장정의 수는 사만 천오백이었다.	Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Asher, were forty and one thousand and five hundred.
42	납달리 후손을 각 갈래와 가문별로 족보를 따져가며 전장에 나갈 수 있는 스무 살 이상 되는 장정을 일일이 호명하여 그 수를 조사하였다.	Of the children of Naphtali, throughout their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
43	납달리 지파에서 등록된 장정의 수는 오만 삼천사백이었다.	Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.
44	이들은 모세와 아론이 이스라엘 각 가문을 대표하는 열두 대표와 함께 조사하여 등록시킨 사람들이다.	These are those that were numbered, which Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: each one was for the house of his fathers.
45	이렇게 이스라엘에서 전장에 나갈 수 있는 스무 살 이상 되는 장정을 이스라엘 백성의 각 가문별로 모두 등록시키고 보니	So were all those that were numbered of the children of Israel, by the house of their fathers, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war in Israel;
46	등록된 장정의 수는 모두 육십만 삼천오백오십이었다.	Even all they that were numbered were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
47	레위인들만은 자기 가문별로 지파를 따라 병적부에 올리지 않았다.	But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.
48	병역 면제를 받은 레위 지파의 특전 야훼께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.	For the Lord had spoken unto Moses, saying,
49	"레위 지파만은 이스라엘 백성과 함께 병적부에 올리기 위하여 그 수를 세지 마라.	Only thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the sum of them among the children of Israel:
50	네가 레위인들에게 맡길 일은 증거판을 모신 성막과 거기에 있는 모든 기구와 부속품들을 보살피는 일이다. 그들은 성막과 그 모든 기구를 운반하여야 하고, 성막에 봉직하며 그 둘레에 진을 치고 살아야 한다.	But thou shalt appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all the vessels thereof, and over all things that belong to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof; and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.
51	성막을 이동할 때 그것을 거두어 내릴 사람도 레위인들이요, 성막을 칠 때 그것을 세울 사람도 레위인들이다. 여느 사람이 나섰다가는 죽으리라.	And when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down: and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
52	이스라엘 백성은 각기 자기 진지, 자기 부대의 깃발 아래 머물러 있고,	And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, throughout their hosts.
53	증거판을 모신 성막 둘레에는 레위인들만이 진을 치고 있어야 한다. 그래야 이스라엘 백성 회중에 주의 진노가 내리지 않는다. 레위인들은 증거판을 모신 성막을 보살피는 일을 맡은 사람들이다."	But the Levites shall pitch round about the tabernacle of testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of testimony.
54	이리하여 이스라엘 백성은 모든 것을 야훼께서 모세에게 내리신 지시대로 시행하였다.	And the children of Israel did according to all that the Lord commanded Moses, so did they.
