1	중풍병자를 고치신 예수 며칠 뒤에 예수께서는 다시 가파르나움으로 가셨다. 예수께서 집에 계시다는 말이 퍼지자	And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
2	많은 사람이 모여들어 마침내 문 앞에까지 빈틈없이 들어섰다. 그리고 예수께서는 그들에게 하느님의 말씀을 전하고 계셨다.	And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.
3	그 때 어떤 중풍병자를 네 사람이 들고 왔다.	And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
4	그러나 사람들이 너무 많아 예수께 가까이 데려갈 수가 없었다. 그래서 예수가 계신 바로 위의 지붕을 벗겨 구멍을 내고 중풍병자를 요에 눕힌 채 예수 앞에 달아 내려보냈다.	And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
5	예수께서는 그들의 믿음을 보시고 중풍병자에게 "너는 죄를 용서받았다." 하고 말씀하셨다.	When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
6	거기 앉아 있던 율법학자 몇 사람이 속으로	But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
7	"이 사람이 어떻게 감히 이런 말을 하여 하느님을 모독하는가? 하느님말고 누가 죄를 용서할 수 있단 말인가?" 하며 중얼거렸다.	Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
8	예수께서 그들의 생각을 알아채시고 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "어찌하여 너희는 그런 생각을 품고 있느냐?	And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?
9	중풍병자에게 '너는 죄를 용서받았다.' 하는 것과 '일어나 네 요를 걷어가지고 걸어가거라.' 하는 것과 어느 편이 더 쉽겠느냐?	Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?
10	이제 땅에서 죄를 용서하는 권한이 사람의 아들에게 있다는 것을 보여주겠다." 그리고 나서 중풍병자에게	But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
11	"내가 말하는 대로 하여라. 일어나 요를 걷어가지고 집으로 가거라." 하고 말씀하셨다.	I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.
12	중풍병자는 사람들이 보는 앞에서 벌떡 일어나 곧 요를 걷어가지고 나갔다. 그러자 모두들 몹시 놀라서 "이런 일은 정말 처음 보는 일이다." 하며 하느님을 찬양하였다. (; )	And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.
13	레위를 부르심 예수께서 다시 호숫가로 나가셨다. 군중도 모두 따라왔으므로 예수께서는 그들을 가르치셨다.	And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.
14	그리고 그 후에 길을 가시다가 알패오의 아들 레위가 세관에 앉아 있는 것을 보시고 "나를 따라오너라." 하고 부르셨다. 그러자 레위는 일어나서 예수를 따라나섰다.	And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alpheus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.
15	어느 날 예수께서는 레위의 집에서 음식을 잡수시게 되었다. 예수를 따르던 사람들 중에는 세리와 죄인들도 많았는데 그 중 여럿이 예수와 그의 제자들과 함께 그 자리에 앉아 있었다.	And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him.
16	바리사이파의 율법학자들은 예수께서 죄인과 세리들과 한 자리에서 음식을 나누시는 것을 보고 예수의 제자들에게 "저 사람이 세리와 죄인들과 어울려 같이 음식을 나누고 있으니 어찌 된 노릇이오?" 하고 물었다.	And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?
17	예수께서 이 말을 들으시고 "성한 사람에게는 의사가 필요하지 않으나 병자에게는 필요하다. 나는 의인을 부르러 온 것이 아니라 죄인을 부르러 왔다." 하고 대답하셨다. (; )	When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
18	단식에 대한 질문 요한의 제자들과 바리사이파 사람들이 단식을 하고 있던 어느 날, 사람들이 예수께 와서 "요한의 제자들과 바리사이파 사람의 제자들은 단식을 하는데 선생님의 제자들은 왜 단식을 하지 않습니까?" 하고 물었다.	And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not?
19	예수께서는 이렇게 대답하셨다. "잔칫집에 온 신랑 친구들이 신랑이 함께 있는 동안에야 어떻게 단식을 할 수 있겠느냐? 신랑이 함께 있는 동안에는 그럴 수 없다.	And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.
20	그러나 이제 신랑을 빼앗길 날이 온다. 그 때에 가서는 그들도 단식을 하게 될 것이다."	But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.
21	"낡은 옷에 새 천조각을 대고 깁는 사람은 없다. 그렇게 하면 낡은 옷이 새 천조각에 켕겨 더 찢어지게 된다.	No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.
22	또 낡은 가죽 부대에 새 포도주를 넣는 사람도 없다. 그렇게 하면 새 포도주가 부대를 터뜨려 포도주도 부대도 다 버리게 된다. 새 포도주는 새 부대에 담아야 한다." (; )	And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.
23	안식일의 주인 어느 안식일에 예수께서 밀밭 사이를 지나가시게 되었다. 그 때 함께 가던 제자들이 밀 이삭을 자르기 시작하자	And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn.
24	바리사이파 사람들이 예수께 "보십시오, 왜 저 사람들이 안식일에 해서는 안 될 일을 하고 있습니까?" 하고 물었다.	And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?
25	예수께서는 이렇게 반문하셨다. "너희는 다윗의 일행이 먹을 것이 없어서 굶주렸을 때에 다윗이 한 일을 읽어본 적이 없느냐?	And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him?
26	에비아달 대사제 때에 다윗은 하느님의 집에 들어가서 제단에 차려놓은 빵을 먹고 함께 있던 사람들에게도 주었다. 그 빵은 사제들 밖에는 아무도 먹을 수 없는 빵이 아니었더냐?"	How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?
27	예수께서는 이어서 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "안식일이 사람을 위하여 있는 것이지, 사람이 안식일을 위하여 있는 것은 아니다.	And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
28	따라서 사람의 아들은 또한 안식일의 주인이다."	Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
