1	인사 나 바울로와 실바노와 디모테오는 아버지 하느님과 주 예수 그리스도를 믿는 데살로니카 교회 여러분에게 이 편지를 씁니다. 주님의 은총과 평화가 여러분에게 깃들기를 빕니다.	Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
2	데살로니카인들의 믿음 우리는 언제나 여러분 모두를 생각하면서 하느님께 감사를 드립니다. 그리고 여러분을 위해서 기도할 때마다	We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;
3	여러분의 믿음의 활동과 사랑의 수고와 우리 주 예수 그리스도에 대한 꾸준한 희망을 하느님 우리 아버지 앞에서 끊임없이 기억하고 있습니다.	Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;
4	하느님의 사랑을 받고 있는 교우 여러분, 우리는 하느님께서 여러분을 택해 주셨다는 것을 알고 있습니다.	Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.
5	그것은 우리가 여러분에게 전한 복음이 그저 말만으로 전해진 것이 아니라 능력과 성령과 굳은 확신으로 전해졌기 때문입니다. 우리가 여러분과 함께 있을 때에 여러분을 위해서 어떻게 살았는지 여러분이 잘 알고 있습니다.	For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
6	여러분은 많은 환난 중에서도 성령께서 주시는 기쁨을 가지고 말씀을 받아들여 우리뿐만 아니라 주님까지 본받았습니다.	And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:
7	그래서 여러분은 마케도니아와 아카이아에 있는 모든 신도의 모범이 되었습니다.	So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.
8	주님의 말씀이 여러분으로부터 마케도니아와 아카이아 지방에 두루 퍼져 나갔을 뿐만 아니라 여러분이 하느님을 잘 믿고 있다는 이야기가 사방에 널리 퍼져 나갔으니 그 이야기는 더 할 필요가 없게 되었습니다.	For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.
9	우리가 여러분에게 갔을 때 여러분이 우리를 어떻게 받아들였으며 또 어떻게 우상을 버리고 하느님께로 마음을 돌려서 살아 계신 참 하느님을 섬기게 되었는지는 오히려 그들이 말하고 있습니다.	For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
10	또 죽은 자들 가운데서 다시 살아나신 하느님의 아들 예수께서 하늘로부터 다시 오실 날을 여러분이 고대하게 되었다는 것도 그들이 널리 전하고 있습니다. 그분은 장차 닥쳐올 하느님의 진노에서 우리를 건져내 주실 분입니다.	And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
