1	예수를 잡아 죽일 음모 무교절 곧 과월절이라는 명절이 다가왔다.	Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.
2	대사제들과 율법학자들은 백성들이 무서워서 예수를 어떻게 죽여야 탈이 없을까 하고 궁리하고 있었다. (; )	And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.
3	유다의 배반 그런데 열두 제자 가운데 하나인 가리옷 사람 유다가 사탄의 유혹에 빠졌다.	Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.
4	그는 대사제들과 성전 수위대장들에게 가서 예수를 잡아 넘겨줄 방도를 상의하였다.	And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.
5	그들은 기뻐하며 그에게 돈을 주겠다고 약속하였다.	And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.
6	유다는 이에 동의하고 사람들 몰래 예수를 잡아줄 기회를 노리고 있었다. (; ; )	And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.
7	과월절 준비 드디어 무교절의 첫 날이 왔다. 이 날은 과월절에 쓰는 어린 양을 잡는 날이었다.	Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.
8	예수께서는 베드로와 요한을 보내시며 "가서 우리가 먹을 과월절 음식을 준비하여라." 하고 이르셨다.	And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.
9	그들이 "어디에다 차리면 좋겠습니까?" 하고 묻자	And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare?
10	예수께서 이렇게 지시하셨다. "너희가 성안에 들어가면 물동이를 메고 가는 사람을 만날 것이다. 그 사람이 들어가는 집으로 따라 들어가서	And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in.
11	그 집 주인을 보고 내가 제자들과 함께 과월절 음식을 먹을 방이 어디 있느냐고 묻더라고 하여라.	And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
12	그러면 그 집 주인이 이층의 큰 방 하나를 보여줄 것이다. 그 방에 자리가 다 마련되어 있을 터이니 거기에다가 준비를 하여라."	And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.
13	이 말씀을 듣고 제자들이 가보니 과연 예수께서 말씀하신 대로였다. 그들은 거기에다 과월절 음식을 차렸다. (; ; )	And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
14	최후의 만찬 만찬 시간이 되자 예수께서 사도들과 함께 자리에 앉아	And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.
15	"내가 고난을 당하기 전에 너희와 이 과월절 음식을 함께 나누려고 얼마나 별러왔는지 모른다.	And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
16	잘 들어두어라. 나는 과월절 음식의 본뜻이 하느님 나라에서 성취되기까지는 이 과월절 음식을 다시는 먹지 않겠다." 하고 말씀하셨다.	For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
17	그리고 잔을 들어 감사의 기도를 올리신 다음 "자, 이 잔을 받아 나누어 마셔라.	And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
18	잘 들어라. 이제부터 하느님 나라가 올 때까지는 포도로 빚은 것을 나는 결코 마시지 않겠다." 하시고는	For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
19	또 빵을 들어 감사 기도를 올리신 다음 그것을 떼어 제자들에게 주시며 "이것은 너희를 위하여 내어주는 내 몸이다. 나를 기념하여 이 예식을 행하여라." 하고 말씀하셨다.	And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
20	음식을 나눈 뒤에 또 그와 같이 잔을 들어 "이것은 내 피로 맺는 새로운 계약의 잔이다. 나는 너희를 위하여 이 피를 흘리는 것이다." 하셨다.	Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
21	"그런데 나를 제 손으로 잡아 넘길 자가 지금 나와 함께 이 식탁에 앉아 있다.	But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.
22	사람의 아들은 하느님께서 정하신 대로 가지만 사람의 아들을 잡아 넘기는 그 사람은 화를 입을 것이다."	And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!
23	이 말씀을 듣고 제자들은 자기들 중에 그런 짓을 하려는 자가 도대체 누구일까 하고 서로 물었다. (; ; )	And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.
24	누가 제일 높으냐? 제자들 사이에서 누구를 제일 높게 볼 것이냐는 문제로 옥신각신하는 것을 보시고	And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.
25	예수께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "이 세상의 왕들은 강제로 백성을 다스린다. 그리고 백성들에게 권력을 휘두르는 사람들은 백성의 은인으로 행세한다.	And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.
26	그러나 너희는 그래서는 안 된다. 오히려 너희 중에서 제일 높은 사람은 제일 낮은 사람처럼 처신해야 하고 지배하는 사람은 섬기는 사람처럼 처신해야 한다.	But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.
27	식탁에 앉은 사람과 심부름하는 사람 중에 어느 편이 더 높은 사람이냐? 높은 사람은 식탁에 앉은 사람이 아니냐? 그러나 나는 심부름하는 사람으로 여기에 와 있다."	For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.
28	제자들이 받을 상 "너희는 내가 온갖 시련을 겪는 동안 나와 함께 견디어 왔으니	Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.
29	내 아버지께서 나에게 왕권을 주신 것처럼 나도 너희에게 왕권을 주겠다.	And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;
30	너희는 내 나라에서 내 식탁에 앉아 먹고 마시며 옥좌에 앉아 이스라엘의 열두 지파를 심판하게 될 것이다." (; ; )	That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
31	베드로의 장담 "시몬아, 시몬아, 들어라. 사탄이 이제는 키로 밀을 까부르듯이 너희를 제멋대로 다루게 되었다.	And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
32	그러나 나는 네가 믿음을 잃지 않도록 기도하였다. 그러니 네가 나에게 다시 돌아오거든 형제들에게 힘이 되어다오."	But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
33	베드로는 이 말씀을 듣고 "주님, 저는 주님과 함께라면 감옥에 가도 좋고 죽어도 좋습니다." 하고 대답하였다.	And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.
34	그러나 예수께서는 "베드로야, 내 말을 잘 들어라. 오늘 닭이 울기 전에 너는 세 번이나 나를 모른다고 할 것이다." 하셨다.	And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.
35	그리고 사도들에게 "내가 너희를 보낼 때 돈주머니나 식량 자루나 신을 가지고 가지 말라고 했는데 부족한 것이라도 있었느냐?" 하고 물으셨다.	And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.
36	"아무것도 부족한 것이 없었습니다." 하고 그들이 대답하자 예수께서는 "그러나 지금은 돈주머니가 있는 사람들은 그것을 가지고 가고 식량 자루도 가지고 가거라. 또 칼이 없는 사람은 겉옷을 팔아서라도 칼을 사 가지고 가거라.	Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
37	그래서 '그는 악인들 중의 하나로 몰렸다.' 하신 말씀이 나에게서 이루어져야 한다. 과연 나에 관한 기록은 다 이루어지고 있다." 하셨다.	For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
38	이 말씀을 듣고 그들이 "주님, 여기에 칼 두 자루가 있습니다." 하였더니 예수께서는 "그만 하면 되었다." 하고 말씀하셨다. (; )	And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
39	올리브 산에서 기도하시다 예수께서 늘 하시던 대로 밖으로 나가 올리브 산으로 가시자 제자들도 뒤따라갔다.	And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.
40	예수께서는 그 곳에 이르러 제자들에게 "유혹에 빠지지 않도록 기도하여라." 하시고는	And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
41	돌을 던지면 닿을 만한 거리에 떨어져서 무릎을 꿇고 기도하셨다.	And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,
42	"아버지, 아버지의 뜻에 어긋나는 일이 아니라면 이 잔을 저에게서 거두어주십시오. 그러나 제 뜻대로 하지 마시고 아버지의 뜻대로 하십시오."	Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
43	—	And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
44	—	And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
45	기도를 마치시고 일어나 제자들에게 돌아와 보시니 그들은 슬픔에 지쳐 잠들어 있었다.	And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,
46	이것을 보시고 예수께서는 제자들에게 "왜 이렇게들 잠만 자고 있느냐? 유혹에 빠지지 않도록 일어나 기도하여라." 하고 말씀하셨다. (; ; )	And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.
47	잡히신 예수 예수의 말씀이 채 끝나기도 전에 무리가 떼를 지어 열두 제자 중의 하나인 유다라는 사람을 앞세우고 나타났다. 유다가 예수께 입맞추려고 다가서자	And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.
48	예수께서는 "유다야, 입을 맞추어 사람의 아들을 잡아 넘기려느냐?" 하고 말씀하셨다.	But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?
49	예수와 함께 있던 제자들은 일이 어떻게 벌어질 것인가를 알고 "주님, 저희가 칼로 쳐버릴까요?" 하고는	When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?
50	그 가운데 한 사람이 대사제의 종의 오른쪽 귀를 내리쳐 떨어뜨렸다.	And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
51	그러자 예수께서는 "그만해 두어라." 하고 말리시며 그 사람의 귀에 손을 대어 고쳐주셨다.	And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.
52	그리고 잡으러 온 대사제들과 성전 수위대장들과 원로들을 향하여 "칼과 몽둥이를 들고 나를 잡으러 왔으니 내가 강도란 말이냐?	Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?
53	내가 매일 너희와 함께 성전에 있을 때에는 잡지 않더니 이제는 너희의 때가 되었고 암흑이 판을 치는 때가 왔구나." 하셨다. (, ; , ; , )	When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.
54	예수를 부인한 베드로 그들은 예수를 잡아 대사제의 관저로 끌고 들어갔다. 그 때에 베드로는 멀찍이 떨어져서 뒤따르다가	Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest’s house. And Peter followed afar off.
55	마당 가운데에 불을 피우고 둘러앉아 있는 사람들 틈에 끼여들어 앉아 있었다.	And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them.
56	베드로가 불을 쬐고 앉아 있을 때 어떤 여종이 베드로를 유심히 들여다보며 "이 사람도 예수와 함께 있었어요." 하고 말하였다.	But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.
57	베드로는 그 말을 부인하면서 "여보시오, 나는 그런 사람을 모르오." 하였다.	And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.
58	얼마 뒤에 또 어떤 사람이 베드로를 보고 "당신도 그들과 한패요." 하고 말하자 베드로는 "여보시오, 나는 그런 사람이 아니오." 하고 잡아떼었다.	And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.
59	그 뒤 한 시간쯤 지나서 또 다른 사람이 "이 사람은 분명히 예수와 함께 있던 사람이오. 이 사람도 갈릴래아 사람이 아니오?" 하며 몰아세웠다.	And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilean.
60	베드로는 "여보시오, 무슨 소리를 하는 거요?" 하며 끝내 부인하였다. 베드로의 말이 채 끝나기도 전에 닭이 울었다.	And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew.
61	그 때에 주께서 몸을 돌려 베드로를 똑바로 바라보셨다. 그제서야 베드로는 "오늘 닭이 울기 전에 나를 세 번 모른다고 할 것이다." 하신 주님의 말씀이 떠올라	And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
62	밖으로 나가 슬피 울었다. (; )	And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.
63	조롱당하신 예수 예수를 지키던 사람들은 예수를 조롱하고 때리며	And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him.
64	눈을 가리고 "누가 때렸는지 알아맞혀 보아라." 하면서	And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee?
65	계속해서 갖은 욕설을 다 퍼부었다. (; ; )	And many other things blasphemously spake they against him.
66	의회 법정에 서신 예수 날이 밝자 백성의 원로들을 비롯하여 대사제들과 율법학자들이 모여 법정을 열고 예수를 끌어내어	And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,
67	심문을 시작하였다. "자, 말해 보아라. 그대가 그리스도인가?" 예수께서는 "내가 그렇다고 말하여도 너희는 믿지 않을 것이며	Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:
68	내가 물어보아도 너희는 대답하지 않을 것이다.	And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go.
69	사람의 아들은 이제부터 전능하신 하느님의 오른편에 앉게 될 것이다." 하고 대답하셨다.	Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.
70	이 말씀을 듣고 그들은 모두 "그러면 그대가 하느님의 아들이란 말인가?" 하고 물었다. 예수께서 "내가 하느님의 아들이라는 것을 너희가 말하였다." 하고 대답하시자	Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am.
71	그들은 "이제 무슨 증언이 필요하겠습니까? 제 입으로 말하는 것을 우리가 직접 듣지 않았습니까?" 하고 말하였다.	And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.
