1	인사 하느님의 뜻을 따라 그리스도 예수의 사도가 된 나 바울로와 우리 형제 디모테오가	Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother,
2	골로사이에 있는 성도들, 곧 성실하게 그리스도를 믿는 교우들에게 이 편지를 씁니다. 우리 아버지 하느님께서 여러분에게 은총과 평화를 내려주시기를 빕니다.	To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3	바울로의 감사 우리는 여러분을 위해서 언제나 기도하고 그 때마다 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 아버지 하느님께 감사를 드립니다.	We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
4	그것은 여러분이 그리스도 예수를 믿고 모든 성도에게 사랑을 보여주고 있다는 말을 전해 들었기 때문입니다.	Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,
5	그 믿음과 사랑은 여러분을 위해서 하늘에 마련해 두신 축복에 대한 희망에서 나온 것입니다. 그 희망에 대해서는 여러분이 진리의 말씀 곧 복음을 받아들였을 때에 이미 들은 바 있습니다.	For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
6	그 복음은 여러분에게 전해져서 여러분이 하느님의 은총의 말씀을 듣고 그 참뜻을 깨닫게 되면서부터 열매를 맺으며 퍼져 나갔습니다. 사실 복음은 온 세계에서 열매를 맺으며 널리 퍼져 나가고 있습니다.	Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:
7	그 복음을 여러분에게 가르쳐준 사람은 우리의 사랑하는 동료 에바프라였습니다. 그는 우리를 대신해서 그리스도를 위하여 충실히 일한 일꾼이며,	As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;
8	여러분이 성령을 통해서 사랑의 생활을 하고 있다는 소식을 우리에게 전해 준 사람입니다.	Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.
9	만물의 으뜸이신 그리스도 우리는 그 소식을 들은 날부터 여러분을 위하여 끊임없이 하느님께 기도해 왔습니다. 우리는 여러분이 성령께서 주시는 모든 지혜와 판단력으로 하느님의 뜻을 충분히 깨닫게 되기를 빌어왔습니다.	For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
10	또 우리는 여러분이 주님께서 원하시는 생활을 함으로써 언제나 주님을 기쁘게 해드리고 온갖 좋은 일을 행하여 열매를 맺으며 하느님을 더욱 잘 알게 되기를 바랍니다.	That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
11	또 우리는 여러분이 하느님의 영광스러운 권능으로부터 오는 온갖 힘을 받아 강하여져서 모든 일을 참고 견딜 수 있게 되기를 바랍니다. 그리고 기쁜 마음으로	Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
12	아버지께 감사를 드릴 수 있게 되기를 바랍니다. 아버지께서는 성도들이 광명의 나라에서 받을 상속에 참여할 자격을 우리에게 주셨습니다.	Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13	아버지께서는 우리를 흑암의 권세에서 건져내시어 당신의 사랑하시는 아들의 나라로 옮겨주셨습니다.	Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14	우리는 그 아들로 말미암아 죄를 용서받고 속박에서 풀려났습니다.	In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15	그리스도께서는 보이지 않는 하느님의 형상이시며 만물에 앞서 태어나신 분이십니다.	Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16	그것은 하늘과 땅에 있는 만물, 곧 보이는 것은 물론이고 왕권과 주권과 권세와 세력의 여러 천신들과 같은 보이지 않는 것까지도 모두 그분을 통해서 창조되었기 때문입니다. 만물은 그분을 통해서 그리고 그분을 위해서 창조되었습니다.	For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17	그분은 만물보다 앞서 계시고 만물은 그분으로 말미암아 존속합니다.	And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18	그리스도는 또한 당신의 몸인 교회의 머리이십니다. 그분은 모든 것의 시작이시고 죽은 자들 가운데서 살아나신 최초의 분이시며 만물의 으뜸이 되셨습니다.	And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
19	하느님께서는 당신의 완전한 본질을 그리스도에게 기꺼이 주시고	For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
20	그리스도를 내세워 하늘과 땅의 만물을 당신과 화해시켜 주셨습니다. 곧 십자가에서 흘리신 예수의 피로써 평화를 이룩하셨습니다.	And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
21	여러분도 전에는 하느님으로부터 떨어져서 하느님께 적의를 품고 사악한 행동을 일삼고 있었습니다.	And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
22	그러나 이제는 하느님께서 당신의 아들의 몸을 희생시키시어 여러분과 화해하시고 여러분을 거룩하고 흠없고 탓할 데 없는 사람으로서 당신 앞에 서게 하여주셨습니다.	In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
23	물론 여러분은 튼튼한 믿음의 기초 위에 굳건히 서서 여러분이 이미 받아들인 복음의 희망을 저버리지 말고 신앙 생활을 계속해야 합니다. 그 복음은 하늘 아래 모든 사람에게 전파되었고 나 바울로는 그 소식을 전하는 일꾼입니다.	If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
24	교회의 일꾼 바울로 그래서 나는 여러분을 위하여 기꺼이 고통을 겪고 있습니다. 그리고 나는 그리스도의 몸인 교회를 위하여 그리스도의 남은 고난을 내 몸으로 채우고 있습니다.	Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church:
25	나는 하느님께서 맡기신 사명을 따라 여러분에게 하느님의 말씀을 남김없이 전하기 위해서 교회의 일꾼이 되었습니다.	Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;
26	이 심오한 진리는 과거의 모든 세대, 모든 사람에게 감추어져 있던 것인데 이제는 하느님의 성도들에게 분명히 드러났습니다.	Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
27	하느님께서는 이방인들에게 드러내신 이 심오한 진리가 얼마나 풍성하고 영광스러운 것인가를 성도들에게 알리려 하신 것입니다. 이 심오한 진리는 곧 이방인 여러분이 그리스도를 믿게 되었다는 사실과 또 영광을 차지하게 되리라는 희망입니다.	To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
28	우리는 바로 이 그리스도를 선포하고 있습니다. 그리고 모든 사람이 그리스도를 믿고 성숙한 인간으로 하느님 앞에 서도록 하려고, 우리는 지혜를 다하여 모든 사람을 경고하며 가르칩니다.	Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
29	나는 이를 위해서 내 안에서 강하게 활동하시는 그리스도께 힘입어 애써 노력하고 있습니다.	Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.
