1	헌금의 원칙 형제 여러분, 우리는 하느님께서 마케도니아 여러 교회에 얼마나 큰 은총을 내려주셨는지를 여러분에게 알려드립니다.	Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;
2	그들은 환난을 만나 큰 시련을 당하면서도 오히려 기쁨에 넘쳤고 극심한 가난에 쪼들리면서도 많은 희사를 했습니다.	How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.
3	나는 확실히 말할 수 있습니다. 그들은 제 푼수대로만 희사한 것이 아니라 그 이상의 희사까지도 했습니다.	For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;
4	그리고 부디 자기들에게도 성도들을 구제하는 일에 참여하는 특전을 달라고 자진해서 간청해 왔습니다.	Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.
5	우리가 기대도 하지 못했던 일이 일어났습니다. 그들은 먼저 주님께 그들 자신을 바치고 하느님의 뜻을 따라서 우리에게도 헌신하였습니다.	And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.
6	그래서 우리는 디도더러 여러분에게 가서 이미 시작한 그 은혜로운 모금 사업을 마저 끝내라고 권했습니다.	Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also.
7	여러분은 모든 일에 뛰어났습니다. 믿음이나, 언변이나, 지식이나, 열성이나, 우리에 대한 사랑에서 여러분을 따를 사람이 없습니다. 그러니 이 은혜로운 모금 사업에 있어서도 뛰어나기를 바랍니다.	Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.
8	이것은 내가 명령으로 하는 말이 아닙니다. 다만 이 일에 열성을 보이는 다른 사람들의 이야기를 들려주고 여러분의 사랑은 얼마나 진실한가를 알아보려는 것뿐입니다.	I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.
9	여러분은 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 얼마나 은혜로우신지를 잘 알고 있습니다. 그분은 부요하셨지만 여러분을 위하여 가난하게 되셨습니다. 그분이 가난해지심으로써 여러분은 오히려 부요하게 되었습니다.	For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
10	이 구제 사업에 대해서 내 의견은 이렇습니다. 이 일은 일 년 전에 여러분이 먼저 시작했을 뿐만 아니라 또 자원해서 한 일이니 여러분이 완성하는 것이 좋겠습니다.	And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago.
11	이제 그 일을 마무리하도록 하십시오. 여러분이 처음에 품었던 의욕을 실천에 옮겨 자기 힘이 자라는 대로 그 일을 완성하라는 말입니다.	Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.
12	마음이 내켜서 하는 일이라면 가진 것에서 얼마를 바치든지 하느님께서는 기꺼이 받으실 것입니다. 없는 것을 억지로 내라는 말은 아닙니다.	For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.
13	내가 지금 다른 사람들은 평안하게 해주면서 여러분에게만 괴로운 부담을 주려는 것은 아닙니다. 다만 공평하게 하려는 것뿐입니다.	For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened:
14	지금 여러분이 넉넉하게 살면서 궁핍한 사람들을 도와준다면 그들이 넉넉하게 살게 될 때에는 또한 여러분의 궁핍을 덜어줄 것입니다. 그러면 결국 공평하게 되지 않겠습니까?	But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:
15	이것은 성서에, "많이 거둔 사람도 남지 않았고 적게 거둔 사람도 모자라지 않았다." 고 기록된 대로입니다.	As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.
16	디도 일행의 파견 내가 여러분에게 기울이는 것과 같은 열성을 디도의 마음에도 주신 하느님께 감사합니다.	But thanks be to God, which put the same earnest care into the heart of Titus for you.
17	그는 우리의 요청을 기꺼이 받아들였을 뿐만 아니라 대단한 열성을 내어 자진해서 여러분에게로 가는 것입니다.	For indeed he accepted the exhortation; but being more forward, of his own accord he went unto you.
18	우리는 디도에게 형제 한 사람을 딸려보냅니다. 그 사람은 모든 교회에서 복음을 전하는 데 명성을 떨친 사람입니다.	And we have sent with him the brother, whose praise is in the gospel throughout all the churches;
19	그뿐만 아니라 그는 여러 교회에서 뽑혀 우리와 동행하면서 우리가 추진하고 있는 이 은혜로운 사업을 돕고 있는 사람입니다. 우리는 주님의 영광을 위해서 또 우리의 좋은 뜻을 실현하기 위해서 이 일을 하는 것입니다.	And not that only, but who was also chosen of the churches to travel with us with this grace, which is administered by us to the glory of the same Lord, and declaration of your ready mind:
20	우리가 그들을 보내는 것은 우리가 이 막대한 의연금을 다루면서 아무한테서도 뒷말을 듣지 않으려는 것입니다.	Avoiding this, that no man should blame us in this abundance which is administered by us:
21	주님 앞에서만 아니라 사람들 앞에서도 떳떳한 일을 하려는 것이 우리의 뜻입니다.	Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.
22	그들과 함께 또 다른 형제 한 사람을 딸려보냅니다. 그 사람은 우리가 이미 여러 번 시험해 본 바, 여러 가지 일에 큰 열성을 보여준 사람입니다. 그는 지금 여러분을 굳게 신뢰하고 있으므로 더욱 열심을 내고 있습니다.	And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimes proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which I have in you.
23	디도로 말하면 그는 나의 동료로서 여러분을 위해서 나와 함께 일하는 협조자입니다. 그리고 그와 함께 가는 다른 형제들은 여러 교회가 뽑아서 보내는 대표들로서 그리스도의 영광을 드러낼 사람들입니다.	Whether any do enquire of Titus, he is my partner and fellowhelper concerning you: or our brethren be enquired of, they are the messengers of the churches, and the glory of Christ.
24	그러니 여러분은 그들을 사랑으로 대하여 우리가 여러분을 자랑한 점이 사실이라는 것을 모든 교회에 드러내십시오.	Wherefore shew ye to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love, and of our boasting on your behalf.
