1 然れば汝等至愛なる小兒の如く神に倣う者となり、 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
2 又愛の中に歩みて、キリストも我等を愛し、我等の為に己を馨しき香の献物とし、犠牲として神に捧げ給ひしが如くにせよ。 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
3 私通及び凡ての淫亂貪欲は、其名すらも汝等の中に稱へらるべからざること、聖徒たる者に相應しかるべし。 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
4 或は汚行、愚なる談話、惡き戯言、是皆相應しからず、寧感謝すべきなり。 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
5 汝等覚りて知らざるべからず、凡ての私通者、淫亂者、貪欲者は、偶像を崇拝するに等しき者にして、キリスト及び神の國に於て世嗣たらざるなり。 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
6 誰も空言を以て汝等を欺くべからず、其は是等の事の為に、神御怒は不信の子等の上に降ればなり。 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7 故に汝等彼等に與する事勿れ。 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
8 蓋汝等曾ては暗黒なりしかど、今は主に在りて光なり、光の子の如くに歩め。 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
9 光の結ぶ果は、凡ての慈愛と正義と眞實とに在り。 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10 如何なる事の神の御意に適ふかを試し看よ。 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
11 且果を結ばざる暗黒の業に與する事なく、寧却て之を咎めよ。 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
12 蓋彼等の窃に行ふ所は、之を口にするすら耻なり。 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
13 凡ての咎むべき事は光によりて顕る、凡て顕るるは光なればなり。 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
14 是故に言へる事あり、「眠れる人よ起て、死者の中より立上れ、キリスト汝を照らし給はん」と。 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
15 然れば兄弟等よ、如何に慎みて歩むべきかに心せよ。愚者の如くにせず、 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
16 智者の如くに歩みて、日惡しければ良き機會を求めよ、 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 是故に神の御旨の如何を覚りて、思慮なき者と成る事勿れ。 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
18 又酒に酔ふ事勿れ、其中に淫亂あるなり。寧ろ（聖）霊に満たされて、 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19 霊的の詩と讃美歌と歌とを以て語合ひ、又心の中に謳ひて主を讃美し奉り、 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20 常に我主イエズス、キリストの御名を以て、萬事に就きて父にて在す神に感謝し、 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
21 キリストを畏れ奉りつつ互に歸服せよ。 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
22 妻たる者は己が夫に從ふ事、主に於るが如くにすべし、 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
23 其は夫が妻の頭たる事、キリストが教會の頭にして、自ら其體の救主に在せるが如くなればなり、 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24 然れば教會のキリストに從ふが如く、妻も亦萬事夫に從ふべし。 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25 夫たる者よ、汝等の妻を愛する事、キリストも教會を愛して、之が為に己を付し給ひしが如くにせよ、 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 己を付し給ひしは、（生命の）言により、水洗にて之を潔めて聖とならしめん為、 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 光榮ある教會、即ち染なく、皺なく、然る類の事もなき教會を、自ら己が為に備へて、之をして聖なるもの、汚なきものたらしめん為なり。 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28 斯の如く、夫たるものも亦己が妻を我身として愛すべきなり、妻を愛する人は是己を愛する者なり。 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
29 蓋曾て如何なる人も、己が肉身を嫌ひし事なく、却て之を養ひ守る事、猶キリストが教會に為し給ひしが如し、 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
30 其は我等は其御體の肢にして、其肉より其骨より成りたればなり。 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
31 故に人は父母を措きて己が妻に添ひ、而して二人一體と成るべし、 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32 是大いなる奥義なり、我はキリスト及び教會に就きて之を言ふ。 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
33 然れば汝等も各己が妻を己として愛し、又妻は夫を畏敬すべし。 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
