1 ペンテコステの日至りしかば、皆一所に集り居けるに、 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 忽ちにして天より烈しき風の來るが如き響ありて、彼等が坐せる家に充ち渡り、 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 又火の如き舌彼等に顕れ、分れて各の上に止れり。 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 斯て皆聖霊に満たされ、聖霊が彼等に言はしめ給ふに從ひて、種々の言語にて語り出でたり。 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5 然るに敬虔なるユデア人等の、天下の諸國より來りてエルザレムに住める者ありしが、 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
6 此音の響き渡るや、群集集り來りて、何れも使徒等が面々の國語にて語るを聞きければ、一同心騒ぎ惘果て、 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
7 驚き嘆じて云ひけるは、看よ彼語る人は皆ガリレア人ならずや、 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans?
8 如何にして我等各、我生國の語を聞きたるぞ、と。 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
9 パルト人、メド人、エラミト人、又メソポタミア、ユデア、カパドキア、ポント、[小]アジア、 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
10 フリジア、パムフィリア、エジプト、クレネに近きリビア地方に住める者、及びロマ寄留人、即ち、 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
11 ユデア人もユデア教に歸依せし人も、クレタ人も、アラビア人も、彼等が我國語にて神の大業を語るを聞きたるなり。 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
12 然れば皆驚き嘆じて、是は何事ぞと語合ひけるが、 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
13 或は嘲笑ひて、彼等は酒に酔へり、と謂ふ人々もありき。 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
14 是に於てペトロ十一人と共に立上り、聲を揚げて人々に語りけるは、ユデア人及び総てエルザレムに住める人々よ、汝等之を知らざるべからず、耳を傾けて我言を聞け。 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
15 時は尚朝の第九時なれば、此人々は汝等の思へる如く酔ひたるに非ず、 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
16 是預言者ヨエルを以て言はれし事なり、曰く「主曰はく、末の日頃に至らば、我霊を凡ての人の上に注がん、 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17 斯て汝等の子女は預言し、汝等の青年等は幻を見、汝等の老人等は夢みるべし、 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18 又我僕、婢等の上にも、彼日頃に至りて我霊を注がん、斯て彼等は預言すべし。 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
19 我又上は天に不思議を、下は地に徴を與へん、即ち血と火と烟の柱とあるべし、 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
20 主の大いにして明白なる日の來らざる前に、日は暗黒と成り、月は血と成らん、 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
21 斯て主の御名を呼頼まん人皆救はるべし」と。 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
22 イスラエル人よ、是等の言を聞け。ナザレトのイエズスは、汝等も知れる如く、神が之を以て汝等の中に行ひ給ひし奇蹟と不思議と徴とを以て、神より汝等の中に證明せられたる人にして、 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
23 神の豫定の思召と豫知とによりて付されしを、汝等不法人の手を以て之を磔にして殺したるなり。 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
24 彼冥府に止めらるること能はざりければ、神冥府の苦を解きて之を復活せしめ給へり。 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.
25 蓋ダヴィド之を斥して曰く、「我は絶えず我前に主を見奉りたり、其は我が動かざらん為に、主我右に在せばなり。 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
26 故に我心は嬉しく、我舌は喜びに堪へず、加之我肉體も亦希望の中に息まん。 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
27 其は汝我魂を冥府に棄置き給はず、汝の聖なる者に腐敗を見せ給ふ事なかるべければなり、 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
28 汝生命の道を我に知らせ給へり、又御顔を以て我を喜に満たせ給ふべし」と。 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
29 兄弟の人々よ、大祖ダヴィドに就きて憚らず之を云はしめよ。彼は死して葬られ、其墓は今日に至るまで我等の中に存す。 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
30 即ち彼は預言者にして、神之に誓を立て、其子孫の中より一人其座に着くべし、と約し給ひし事を知り居たれば、 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31 先見してキリストの復活を示し、其冥府に棄置かれざりし事と、其肉體の腐敗を見ざりし事とを語りたるなり。 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
32 神は此イエズスを復活せしめ給へり、我等は皆其證人なり。 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
33 然ればこそ神の右の御手を以て上げられ、且父より聖霊の約束を受けて、汝等の見且聞ける此聖霊を注ぎ給ひたるなれ。 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
34 蓋ダヴィドは天に昇りしに非ざれども、自ら曰へらく「主我主に曰へらく、 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
35 我汝の敵を汝の足台とならしむるまで我右に坐せ」と。 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.
36 然れば汝等が十字架に磔けし此イエズスをば、神が主となしキリストと為し給ひし事を、イスラエルの家挙りて最も確に知らざるべからず、と。 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
37 人々是等の事を聞きて心を刺され、ペトロ及び他の使徒等に向ひ、兄弟の人々よ、我等何を為すべきぞ、と云ひければ、 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 ペトロ云ひけるは、汝等改心せよ、且罪を赦されん為に、各イエズス、キリストの御名によりて洗せらるべし、然らば聖霊の賜を得ん。 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 蓋約束は汝等の為にして、又汝等の子等、及び総て遥に遠ざかれる人、我等の神たる主の召し給へる一切の人の為なり、と。 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
40 ペトロ此他尚多くの言を以て、人々を服せしめ且勧めて、汝等此邪の時代より救ひ出されよ、と云ひ居たり。 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41 斯て彼の言を承けし人々洗せられしが、即日弟子の數に加はりし者約三千人なりき。 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
42 然て堪忍びて、使徒等の教と共同生活と、麪を擘く事と祈祷とに從事し居たりしが、 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
43 軈て人皆心に懼を生じ、又使徒等に籍りて、多くの不思議と徴と、エルザレムに行はれければ、一般の人々大いに懼れを懐き居たり。 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
44 斯て信仰せる人々、総て一所に在りて何物をも共有にし、 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
45 動産不動産を売り、面々の用に應じて一同に分ちつつ、 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
46 尚毎日心を同じくして長時間[神]殿に居り、家々に麪を擘きて喜悦と眞心とを以て食事を為し、 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
47 諸共に神を賛美し奉りて、人民一般の心を獲たり。然て斯の如くに、救はるる人を、主日々増加せしめ給ひつつありき。 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
