1 然らばユデア人に何の長ぜる所かある、又割禮に何の益かある、 What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?
2 其は各方面に多し、即ち先神の曰し御言は彼等に托せられたるなり。 Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.
3 假令彼等の中に信ぜざる者ありしも、是何かあらん、彼等の不信仰は神の眞實を空しからしむべきか、決して然らず。 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
4 神は眞實にて在し、人は総て僞る者なり。録して「（主よ）是汝が其言に於て義とせられ、審判せられ給ふも勝を得給はん為なり」、とあるが如し。 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
5 若我等の不義が神の義を顕すとせば、我等何をか云はん、怒を加へ給ふ神は不義なるか、―― But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man)
6 是は人の云ふ如くに云へり――決して然らず、若然りとせば、神は如何にしてか此世を審判し給ふべき。 God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?
7 若我等の僞によりて神の眞實顕れ、其光榮の増したらんには、争でか我も罪人と定めらるる事あらんや。 For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?
8 また――我等の罵られて然稱ふと或人々に云はるる如く――善を來さん為に惡を為すべけんや、斯る人々の罪せらるるは宜なり。 And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.
9 然らば何ぞや、我等は異邦人に先つ者なるか、決して然らず、其は既にユデア人もギリシア人も皆罪の下に在りと證したればなり。 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
10 録して、「誰も義しき者なく、 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11 覚る者なく、神を求むる者なし、 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 皆迷ひて相共に空しき者となれり、善を為す者なし、一人だもある事なし。 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
13 彼等の喉は開きたる墓なり、其舌を以て欺き、其唇の下に蝮の毒あり、 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
14 其口は詛と苦とに充ち、 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
15 其足は血を流す為に疾く、 Their feet are swift to shed blood:
16 破と禍とは、其道途に在り、 Destruction and misery are in their ways:
17 彼等は平和の道を知らず、 And the way of peace have they not known:
18 其目前に神に對する畏れなし」とあるが如し。 There is no fear of God before their eyes.
19 但総て律法の言ふ所は律法の下に在る人々に向ひて言ふこと、我等之を知れり、是凡ての口塞りて、全世界が神に屈服するに至らん為なり。 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
20 蓋神の御前には、如何なる人も律法の業に由りて義とせらるる事あらじ、律法に由りて得るは罪の意識なればなり。 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
21 然るに律法と預言者とに證せられて、神の[賜ふ]義は今や律法の外に顕れたり。 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22 即ちイエズス、キリストに於る信仰に由て神の「賜ふ」義は信仰する者の凡に及び、凡ての上に在り、蓋し差別ある事なし、 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23 其は皆罪を犯したる者にして、神の光榮を要すればなり。 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 人々の義とせらるるは、功なくして唯神の恩寵に由り、キリスト、イエズスに於る贖に由りてなり。 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25 即ち神は從前の罪を忍び給ひしに、其赦を以て己が正義を顕さん為に、イエズス、キリストを宥の犠牲に供へ、其御血に於る信仰を有たしめ、 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26 今は己が正義を證せんとて、自ら其正義を顕し給ひ、イエズス、キリストに於る信仰の人をも義と為し給ひしなり。 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27 然らば誇る所何處にか在る、其は除かれたり。如何なる法を以て除かれたるか、業を以てなるか、然らず、信仰の法を以てなり。 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
28 蓋我等謂ふに、人の義とせらるるは律法の業に由らずして信仰に由る。 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
29 神豈ユデア人のみの神ならんや、異邦人にも亦然るに非ずや、然り異邦人にも神たるなり。 Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:
30 其は神は唯一に在して、割禮の人を信仰に由りて義とし、無割禮の人をも信仰に由りて義とし給へばなり。 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
31 然らば我等は信仰を以て律法を亡ぼすか、然らず、却て律法を固うするなり。 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
