1 我等強き者は弱き人々の虚弱を擔ふべくして、己を喜ばすべからず、 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
2 汝等各近き人の徳を立つべく、善事を以て之を喜ばすべし。 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.
3 蓋キリストは己を喜ばし給はず、却て録して、「汝[主]を罵れる人々の侮辱我に落ちかかれり」、とあるが如くに為し給へり。 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.
4 蓋凡て曩に録されたる事は我等に教訓となり、我等をして聖書に依る忍耐と慰籍とを以て、希望を保たしめん為に録されたるなり。 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
5 願はくは忍耐と慰籍とを賜ふ神、汝等をしてイエズス、キリストに從ひて心を同じうせしめ、 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:
6 一の心、一の口を以て我主イエズス、キリストの神にして父にて在すものを崇め奉るを得しめ給はん事を。 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
7 然ればキリストが神の光榮の為に汝等を承容れ給ひし如く、汝等も互に承容れよ。 Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.
8 我は言はん、キリスト、イエズスが割禮[の人々]の役者となり給ひしは、神の眞實を顕し、祖先の[蒙りし]約束を固め、 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:
9 又異邦人をして神を其憫によりて崇めしめ給はん為なり。録して「然れば主よ、我異邦人の中に汝を宣言し、且御名を讃謳はん」とあるが如し。 And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.
10 又曰く、「異邦人等よ、主の民と共に喜べ」、 And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people.
11 又「諸の國、主を讃美せよ、諸の民之を崇め奉れ」とあり。 And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people.
12 又イザヤ曰く、「イエッセの根は芽して異邦人を治むべきもの起らん、異邦人之を希望せん」と。 And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.
13 願はくは希望の神、信仰によりて起る一切の喜と平安とを汝等に満たしめ、聖霊の力を以て汝等の希望に豊ならしめ給はん事を。 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
14 我兄弟等よ、我も汝等が自ら慈愛に満ち、且凡ての智識に満ちて、能く互に訓戒し得る者なる事を確信す。 And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.
15 然れど兄弟等よ、我が動もすれば餘りに憚りなく汝等に書贈りしこと、恰も汝等をして思出さしめんとせる如くなるは、是神より我に賜はりたる恩寵に由れり。 Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God,
16 此恩寵あるは、我異邦人の為に、キリスト、イエズスの役者となりて、神の福音の祭務を執行し、異邦人が聖霊に由りて聖とせられ、御意に適へる献物とならん為なり。 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.
17 然れば神に関して、キリスト、イエズスに於て我が誇るべき所あり。 I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God.
18 蓋キリストが異邦人を從はしめん為に我を用ひ、言と行とを以て、 For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,
19 徴と奇蹟との勢力及び聖霊に由る能力に由りて為し給へる事に非ざれば、我敢て之を語らず。即ちエルザレムよりイルリコ[州]に至る迄の地方を巡りて、キリストの福音を満たせり。 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.
20 但福音を宣べしは、キリストの御名の既に稱へられたる處に非ず、是は他人の置きたる基礎の上に築かざらん為なり。 Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man’s foundation:
21 録して、「未だ告げられざりし人々は之を見ん、聞かざりし人々は悟らん」、とあるが如し。 But as it is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see: and they that have not heard shall understand.
22 我が汝等に至る事之が為に妨げられて、我今まで留められたりしが、 For which cause also I have been much hindered from coming to you.
23 今は早此地方に為すべき事なく、汝等に至らん事は、年來の切なる願なれば、 But now having no more place in these parts, and having a great desire these many years to come unto you;
24 イスパニアへ往かん時に、立寄りて汝等を見ん事、又汝等を以て幾分の満足を得たる後、汝等より彼處へ送られん事、是我希望なり。 Whensoever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with your company.
25 然れば今はエルザレムに至り、聖徒等に事へんとす。 But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints.
26 蓋マケドニア及びアカヤ[州]（の人々）はエルザレムに居る聖徒の貧者の為に、幾何か醵金するを以て善しとせり。 For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem.
27 彼人々は之を善しとせしが、而も彼等に負債ある者なり。蓋異邦人は、彼等の霊的事物の分配を受けたれば、肉的事物を以て彼等に供すべきなり。 It hath pleased them verily; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things.
28 然れば我此用事を終へ、其果を彼等に頒與へて後、汝等を経てイスパニアへ往かん。 When therefore I have performed this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will come by you into Spain.
29 我汝等に至らば、キリスト（の福音）の豊なる祝福を以て至るべきは、我が知る所なり。 And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.
30 故に兄弟等よ、我主イエズス、キリストに由り、又聖霊の寵に由りて、我汝等に希ふ。我為に神に為す祈を以て我と共に戰へ。 Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;
31 是ユデアに在る不信者より我が救はれん為、且持行く贈物がエルザレムの聖徒等の意に適はん為、 That I may be delivered from them that do not believe in Judea; and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints;
32 我が神の御旨に從ひ喜びて汝等に至り、汝等と共に安んずる事を得ん為なり。 That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.
33 願はくは平和の神汝等一同と共に在さん事を、アメン。 Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
