| 1 | 聖徒等の為にせらるる醵金に就きては、我汝等に書遣るに及ばず、 | For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you: |
| 2 | 汝等の志の趣けるを知ればなり。是によりて我、アカヤ[州]は昨年より既に準備せりとて、マケドニア人の前に汝等を以て誇と為す、斯て汝等の奮發は夥しき人々を励ましたるなり。 | For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many. |
| 3 | 然るを我が兄弟等を遣はしたるは、曾て汝等に就きて誇る事の此點に於て空しからず、既に言へる如く準備の成らん為なり。 | Yet have I sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may be ready: |
| 4 | 若マケドニア人我と共に至りて、汝等の準備の未成らざるを見ば、此點に於て、汝等は言ふに及ばず、恐くは我等も赤面するならん。 | Lest haply if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be ashamed in this same confident boasting. |
| 5 | 故に我兄弟等に請ひて、先ちて汝等に至り、既に約束せられし醵金を、吝むが如くにせず恵むが如くにして、豫め備置かしめん事を必要と思へり。 | Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness. |
| 6 | 是に於て我は言ふ、吝みて少く蒔く人は亦少く刈り、豊に蒔く人は亦豊に刈らん。 | But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. |
| 7 | 各心に決せし如く、吝まず、止むを得ざるに出でずして施すべし、神は喜びて與ふる人を嘉し給へばなり。 | Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. |
| 8 | 抑神は能く凡ての恩寵を汝等の中に溢れしめ、汝等をして何時も萬事に十分ならざる所なく、凡ての善業に豊ならしむることを得給ふ、 | And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: |
| 9 | 録して、「[義人]蒔散らして貧人に與へたり、其義は世々に存す」、とあるが如し。 | (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. |
| 10 | 然て蒔く人に種を賜ふ者は食すべき麪をも賜ひ、汝等の種を殖し、且汝等の義の結ぶ果を増し給ふべし。 | Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) |
| 11 | 斯て汝等が萬事に富み、総て快く施すを以て、人は我等に就きて神に感謝し奉るに至らん。 | Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God. |
| 12 | 蓋此祭務を行ふは、聖徒等の缺乏を補ふ耳ならず、尚又主に對して多くの感謝を豊ならしむるなり。 | For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God; |
| 13 | 即ち聖徒等は此務を證據として、汝等がキリストの福音に對して顕す所の服從、及び彼等にも凡ての人にも快く施せる事に就きて、神に光榮を歸し奉らん。 | Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men; |
| 14 | 又神の汝等に賜ひし勝れたる恩寵に就き、汝等を慕ひて汝等の為に祈らん。 | And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you. |
| 15 | 言盡し難き御賜に就きて神に感謝し奉るべし。 | Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift. |
