1 人よりに非ず、人によるにも非ず、イエズス、キリストと、之を死者の中より復活せしめ給ひし父にて在す神とによりて使徒たるパウロ、 Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)
2 並に我と共に在る兄弟一同、ガラチアの諸教會に[書簡を贈る]。 And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:
3 願はくは父にて在す神、及び我主イエズス、キリストより、恩寵と平安とを汝等に賜はらん事を。 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,
4 此キリストは即ち我父にて在す神の思召によりて、我等を此惡き世より救出さんとて、我等の罪の為に己を献げ給ひし者なれば、 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:
5 之に世々光榮あれかし、アメン。 To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
6 我は汝等がキリストの恩寵を以て己を召し給ひし者を遠ざかりて、斯も速に異なる福音に移れるを怪しむ。 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 是異なる福音あるに非ず、唯或人々が汝等を擾して、キリストの福音を翻さんとするなり。 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 然れど我等にまれ、天よりの使にまれ、我等が汝等に宣べし所に反して福音を宣ぶるならば、詛はれよかし。 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 我等曩に言ひしが今又重ねて言ふ、汝等が受けし所に反して福音を宣ぶる者あらば詛はれよかし。 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
10 蓋今我人の心を獲んとするか、将神の御意を獲んとするか、人の心に適はんと力むるか、我尚人の心に適はばキリストの僕に非ざるべし。 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
11 蓋兄弟等よ、汝等に告知らせん、我が宣べし福音は人によれるものに非ず、 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
12 即ち我人より之を受け之に學びたるに非ず、イエズス、キリストの黙示によれるなり。 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
13 蓋ユデア教に於る前の我行状如何は、汝等の聞きし所なり。即ち我は神の教會を甚だしく迫害して之を荒し、 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:
14 我族中なる同年輩の人々に優りてユデア教に進み、我先祖の傳の為に一層熱中して奮發し居たりしなり。 And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.
15 然るに母の胎内より選みて、其恩寵を以て我を召し給へる者は、 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace,
16 我をして其福音を異邦人の中に宣べしめんとて、御子を我心に顕はし給ふことの御意に適ひしかば、其時我直に血肉に謀らず、 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:
17 又エルザレム即ち我先輩なる使徒等の許にも往かず、アラビアに至り、復ダマスコに歸れり。 Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.
18 然て三年を経てペトロを訪問せんとてエルザレムに至り、十五日の間彼が家に留りしも、 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.
19 他の使徒等には、主の兄弟ヤコボの外誰にも遇はざりき。 But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord’s brother.
20 我が汝等に書遣る事は神の御前にて僞なし。 Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.
21 其後我シリア及びシリシア地方に至りしが、 Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;
22 キリストに在るユデアの諸教會は我面を知らず、 And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judea which were in Christ:
23 唯曾て我等を迫害しつつありし人、今や己が曩に亡ぼさんとしたりし信仰を宣傳ふと聞き、 But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.
24 我に就きて光榮を神に歸し奉りつつありき。 And they glorified God in me.
