| 1 | 「さあ、わたしたちは主に帰ろう。主はわたしたちをかき裂かれたが、またいやし、わたしたちを打たれたが、また包んでくださるからだ。 | Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. |
| 2 | 主は、ふつかの後、わたしたちを生かし、三日目にわたしたちを立たせられる。わたしたちはみ前で生きる。 | After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. |
| 3 | わたしたちは主を知ろう、せつに主を知ることを求めよう。主はあしたの光のように必ず現れいで、冬の雨のように、わたしたちに臨み、春の雨のように地を潤される」。 | Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth. |

| 5 | それゆえ、わたしは預言者たちによって彼らを切り倒し、わが口の言葉をもって彼らを殺した。わがさばきは現れ出る光のようだ。 | Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth. |
| 6 | わたしはいつくしみを喜び、犠牲を喜ばない。燔祭よりもむしろ神を知ることを喜ぶ。 | For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. |
| 7 | ところが彼らはアダムで契約を破り、かしこでわたしにそむいた。 | But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me. |
| 8 | ギレアデは悪を行う者の町で、血の足跡で満たされている。 | Gilead is a city of them that work iniquity, and is polluted with blood. |
| 9 | 盗賊が人を待ち伏せするように、祭司たちは党を組み、シケムへ行く道で人を殺す。このように彼らは悪しき事を行う。 | And as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests murder in the way by consent: for they commit lewdness. |
| 10 | わたしはイスラエルの家に恐るべき事を見た。かしこでエフライムは淫行をなし、イスラエルは汚された。 | I have seen an horrible thing in the house of Israel: there is the whoredom of Ephraim, Israel is defiled. |
| 11 | ユダよ、あなたのためにも刈入れが定められている。わたしがわが民の繁栄を回復するとき、 | Also, O Judah, he hath set an harvest for thee, when I returned the captivity of my people. |
