| 2 | あなたは一つの分を七つまた八つに分けよ、あなたは、どんな災が地に起るかを知らないからだ。 | Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth. |
| 3 | 雲がもし雨で満ちるならば、地にそれを注ぐ、また木がもし南か北に倒れるならば、その木は倒れた所に横たわる。 | If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be. |
| 4 | 風を警戒する者は種をまかない、雲を観測する者は刈ることをしない。 | He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap. |

| 8 | 人が多くの年、生きながらえ、そのすべてにおいて自分を楽しませても、暗い日の多くあるべきことを忘れてはならない。すべて、きたらんとする事は皆空である。 | But if a man live many years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity. |
| 9 | 若い者よ、あなたの若い時に楽しめ。あなたの若い日にあなたの心を喜ばせよ。あなたの心の道に歩み、あなたの目の見るところに歩め。ただし、そのすべての事のために、神はあなたをさばかれることを知れ。 | Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment. |
