1 「あなたがたは、心を騒がせないがよい。神を信じ、またわたしを信じなさい。 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 わたしの父の家には、すまいがたくさんある。もしなかったならば、わたしはそう言っておいたであろう。あなたがたのために、場所を用意しに行くのだから。 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 そして、行って、場所の用意ができたならば、またきて、あなたがたをわたしのところに迎えよう。わたしのおる所にあなたがたもおらせるためである。 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 わたしがどこへ行くのか、その道はあなたがたにわかっている」。 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5 トマスはイエスに言った、「主よ、どこへおいでになるのか、わたしたちにはわかりません。どうしてその道がわかるでしょう」。 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6 イエスは彼に言われた、「わたしは道であり、真理であり、命である。だれでもわたしによらないでは、父のみもとに行くことはできない。 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
7 もしあなたがたがわたしを知っていたならば、わたしの父をも知ったであろう。しかし、今は父を知っており、またすでに父を見たのである」。 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8 ピリポはイエスに言った、「主よ、わたしたちに父を示して下さい。そうして下されば、わたしたちは満足します」。 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 イエスは彼に言われた、「ピリポよ、こんなに長くあなたがたと一緒にいるのに、わたしがわかっていないのか。わたしを見た者は、父を見たのである。どうして、わたしたちに父を示してほしいと、言うのか。 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
10 わたしが父におり、父がわたしにおられることをあなたは信じないのか。わたしがあなたがたに話している言葉は、自分から話しているのではない。父がわたしのうちにおられて、みわざをなさっているのである。 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11 わたしが父におり、父がわたしにおられることを信じなさい。もしそれが信じられないならば、わざそのものによって信じなさい。 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
12 よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。わたしを信じる者は、またわたしのしているわざをするであろう。そればかりか、もっと大きいわざをするであろう。わたしが父のみもとに行くからである。 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 わたしの名によって願うことは、なんでもかなえてあげよう。父が子によって栄光をお受けになるためである。 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 何事でもわたしの名によって願うならば、わたしはそれをかなえてあげよう。 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
15 もしあなたがたがわたしを愛するならば、わたしのいましめを守るべきである。 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 わたしは父にお願いしよう。そうすれば、父は別に助け主を送って、いつまでもあなたがたと共におらせて下さるであろう。 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 それは真理の御霊である。この世はそれを見ようともせず、知ろうともしないので、それを受けることができない。あなたがたはそれを知っている。なぜなら、それはあなたがたと共におり、またあなたがたのうちにいるからである。 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 わたしはあなたがたを捨てて孤児とはしない。あなたがたのところに帰って来る。 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
19 もうしばらくしたら、世はもはやわたしを見なくなるだろう。しかし、あなたがたはわたしを見る。わたしが生きるので、あなたがたも生きるからである。 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
20 その日には、わたしはわたしの父におり、あなたがたはわたしにおり、また、わたしがあなたがたにおることが、わかるであろう。 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
21 わたしのいましめを心にいだいてこれを守る者は、わたしを愛する者である。わたしを愛する者は、わたしの父に愛されるであろう。わたしもその人を愛し、その人にわたし自身をあらわすであろう」。 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
22 イスカリオテでない方のユダがイエスに言った、「主よ、あなたご自身をわたしたちにあらわそうとして、世にはあらわそうとされないのはなぜですか」。 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
23 イエスは彼に答えて言われた、「もしだれでもわたしを愛するならば、わたしの言葉を守るであろう。そして、わたしの父はその人を愛し、また、わたしたちはその人のところに行って、その人と一緒に住むであろう。 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 わたしを愛さない者はわたしの言葉を守らない。あなたがたが聞いている言葉は、わたしの言葉ではなく、わたしをつかわされた父の言葉である。 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
25 これらのことは、あなたがたと一緒にいた時、すでに語ったことである。 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
26 しかし、助け主、すなわち、父がわたしの名によってつかわされる聖霊は、あなたがたにすべてのことを教え、またわたしが話しておいたことを、ことごとく思い起させるであろう。 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27 わたしは平安をあなたがたに残して行く。わたしの平安をあなたがたに与える。わたしが与えるのは、世が与えるようなものとは異なる。あなたがたは心を騒がせるな、またおじけるな。 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
28 『わたしは去って行くが、またあなたがたのところに帰って来る』と、わたしが言ったのを、あなたがたは聞いている。もしわたしを愛しているなら、わたしが父のもとに行くのを喜んでくれるであろう。父がわたしより大きいかたであるからである。 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
29 今わたしは、そのことが起らない先にあなたがたに語った。それは、事が起った時にあなたがたが信じるためである。 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
30 わたしはもはや、あなたがたに、多くを語るまい。この世の君が来るからである。だが、彼はわたしに対して、なんの力もない。 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
31 しかし、わたしが父を愛していることを世が知るように、わたしは父がお命じになったとおりのことを行うのである。立て。さあ、ここから出かけて行こう。 But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.
