1 エペソにある教会の御使に、こう書きおくりなさい。『右の手に七つの星を持つ者、七つの金の燭台の間を歩く者が、次のように言われる。 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
2 わたしは、あなたのわざと労苦と忍耐とを知っている。また、あなたが、悪い者たちをゆるしておくことができず、使徒と自称してはいるが、その実、使徒でない者たちをためしてみて、にせ者であると見抜いたことも、知っている。 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
3 あなたは忍耐をし続け、わたしの名のために忍びとおして、弱り果てることがなかった。 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.
4 しかし、あなたに対して責むべきことがある。あなたは初めの愛から離れてしまった。 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
5 そこで、あなたはどこから落ちたかを思い起し、悔い改めて初めのわざを行いなさい。もし、そうしないで悔い改めなければ、わたしはあなたのところにきて、あなたの燭台をその場所から取りのけよう。 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
6 しかし、こういうことはある、あなたはニコライ宗の人々のわざを憎んでおり、わたしもそれを憎んでいる。 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
7 耳のある者は、御霊が諸教会に言うことを聞くがよい。勝利を得る者には、神のパラダイスにあるいのちの木の実を食べることをゆるそう』。 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
8 スミルナにある教会の御使に、こう書きおくりなさい。『初めであり、終りである者、死んだことはあるが生き返った者が、次のように言われる。 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;
9 わたしは、あなたの苦難や、貧しさを知っている（しかし実際は、あなたは富んでいるのだ）。また、ユダヤ人と自称してはいるが、その実ユダヤ人でなくてサタンの会堂に属する者たちにそしられていることも、わたしは知っている。 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
10 あなたの受けようとする苦しみを恐れてはならない。見よ、悪魔が、あなたがたのうちのある者をためすために、獄に入れようとしている。あなたがたは十日の間、苦難にあうであろう。死に至るまで忠実であれ。そうすれば、いのちの冠を与えよう。 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
11 耳のある者は、御霊が諸教会に言うことを聞くがよい。勝利を得る者は、第二の死によって滅ぼされることはない』。 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
12 ペルガモにある教会の御使に、こう書きおくりなさい。『鋭いもろ刃のつるぎを持っているかたが、次のように言われる。 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;
13 わたしはあなたの住んでいる所を知っている。そこにはサタンの座がある。あなたは、わたしの名を堅く持ちつづけ、わたしの忠実な証人アンテパスがサタンの住んでいるあなたがたの所で殺された時でさえ、わたしに対する信仰を捨てなかった。 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.
14 しかし、あなたに対して責むべきことが、少しばかりある。あなたがたの中には、現にバラムの教を奉じている者がある。バラムは、バラクに教え込み、イスラエルの子らの前に、つまずきになるものを置かせて、偶像にささげたものを食べさせ、また不品行をさせたのである。 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
15 同じように、あなたがたの中には、ニコライ宗の教を奉じている者もいる。 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.
16 だから、悔い改めなさい。そうしないと、わたしはすぐにあなたのところに行き、わたしの口のつるぎをもって彼らと戦おう。 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
17 耳のある者は、御霊が諸教会に言うことを聞くがよい。勝利を得る者には、隠されているマナを与えよう。また、白い石を与えよう。この石の上には、これを受ける者のほかだれも知らない新しい名が書いてある』。 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
18 テアテラにある教会の御使に、こう書きおくりなさい。『燃える炎のような目と光り輝くしんちゅうのような足とを持った神の子が、次のように言われる。 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;
19 わたしは、あなたのわざと、あなたの愛と信仰と奉仕と忍耐とを知っている。また、あなたの後のわざが、初めのよりもまさっていることを知っている。 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.
20 しかし、あなたに対して責むべきことがある。あなたは、あのイゼベルという女を、そのなすがままにさせている。この女は女預言者と自称し、わたしの僕たちを教え、惑わして、不品行をさせ、偶像にささげたものを食べさせている。 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
21 わたしは、この女に悔い改めるおりを与えたが、悔い改めてその不品行をやめようとはしない。 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.
22 見よ、わたしはこの女を病の床に投げ入れる。この女と姦淫する者をも、悔い改めて彼女のわざから離れなければ、大きな患難の中に投げ入れる。 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
23 また、この女の子供たちをも打ち殺そう。こうしてすべての教会は、わたしが人の心の奥底までも探り知る者であることを悟るであろう。そしてわたしは、あなたがたひとりびとりのわざに応じて報いよう。 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
24 また、テアテラにいるほかの人たちで、まだあの女の教を受けておらず、サタンの、いわゆる「深み」を知らないあなたがたに言う。わたしは別にほかの重荷を、あなたがたに負わせることはしない。 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.
25 ただ、わたしが来る時まで、自分の持っているものを堅く保っていなさい。 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
26 勝利を得る者、わたしのわざを最後まで持ち続ける者には、諸国民を支配する権威を授ける。 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
27 彼は鉄のつえをもって、ちょうど土の器を砕くように、彼らを治めるであろう。それは、わたし自身が父から権威を受けて治めるのと同様である。 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
28 わたしはまた、彼に明けの明星を与える。 And I will give him the morning star.
29 耳のある者は、御霊が諸教会に言うことを聞くがよい』。 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
