| 1 | モーセはイスラエルの人々の部族のかしらたちに言った、「これは主が命じられた事である。 | And Moses spake unto the heads of the tribes concerning the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded. |
| 2 | もし人が主に誓願をかけ、またはその身に物断ちをしようと誓いをするならば、その言葉を破ってはならない。口で言ったとおりにすべて行わなければならない。 | If a man vow a vow unto the Lord, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth. |
| 3 | またもし女がまだ若く、父の家にいて、主に誓願をかけ、またはその身に物断ちをしようとする時、 | If a woman also vow a vow unto the Lord, and bind herself by a bond, being in her father’s house in her youth; |
| 4 | 父が彼女の誓願、または彼女の身に断った物断ちのことを聞いて、彼女に何も言わないならば、彼女はすべて誓願を行い、またその身に断った物断ちをすべて守らなければならない。 | And her father hear her vow, and her bond wherewith she hath bound her soul, and her father shall hold his peace at her: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand. |
| 5 | しかし、彼女の父がそれを聞いた日に、それを承認しない時は、彼女はその誓願、またはその身に断った物断ちをすべてやめることができる。父が承認しないのであるから、主は彼女をゆるされるであろう。 | But if her father disallow her in the day that he heareth; not any of her vows, or of her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand: and the Lord shall forgive her, because her father disallowed her. |
| 6 | またもし夫のある身で、みずから誓願をかけ、またはその身に物断ちをしようと、軽々しく口で言った場合、 | And if she had at all an husband, when she vowed, or uttered ought out of her lips, wherewith she bound her soul; |
| 7 | 夫がそれを聞き、それを聞いた日に彼女に何も言わないならば、彼女はその誓願を行い、その身に断った物断ちを守らなければならない。 | And her husband heard it, and held his peace at her in the day that he heard it: then her vows shall stand, and her bonds wherewith she bound her soul shall stand. |
| 8 | しかし、もし夫がそれを聞いた日に、それを承認しないならば、夫はその女がかけた誓願、またはその身に物断ちをしようと、軽々しく口に言ったことをやめさせることができる。主はその女をゆるされるであろう。 | But if her husband disallowed her on the day that he heard it; then he shall make her vow which she vowed, and that which she uttered with her lips, wherewith she bound her soul, of none effect: and the Lord shall forgive her. |
| 9 | しかし、寡婦あるいは離縁された女の誓願、すべてその身に断った物断ちは、それを守らなければならない。 | But every vow of a widow, and of her that is divorced, wherewith they have bound their souls, shall stand against her. |
| 10 | もし女が夫の家で誓願をかけ、またはその身に物断ちをしようと誓った時、 | And if she vowed in her husband’s house, or bound her soul by a bond with an oath; |
| 11 | 夫がそれを聞いて、彼女に何も言わず、またそれに反対しないならば、その誓願はすべて行わなければならない。またその身に断った物断ちはすべて守らなければならない。 | And her husband heard it, and held his peace at her, and disallowed her not: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she bound her soul shall stand. |
| 12 | しかし、もし夫がそれを聞いた日にそれを認めないならば、彼女の誓願、または身の物断ちについて、彼女が口で言った事は、すべてやめることができる。夫がそれを認めなかったのだから、主はその女をゆるされるであろう。 | But if her husband hath utterly made them void on the day he heard them; then whatsoever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand: her husband hath made them void; and the Lord shall forgive her. |
| 13 | すべての誓願およびすべてその身を悩ます物断ちの誓約は、夫がそれを守らせることができ、または夫がそれをやめさせることができる。 | Every vow, and every binding oath to afflict the soul, her husband may establish it, or her husband may make it void. |
| 14 | もし夫が彼女に何も言わずに日を送るならば、彼は妻がした誓願、または物断ちをすべて認めたのである。彼はそれを聞いた日に妻に何も言わなかったのだから、それを認めたのである。 | But if her husband altogether hold his peace at her from day to day; then he establisheth all her vows, or all her bonds, which are upon her: he confirmeth them, because he held his peace at her in the day that he heard them. |
| 15 | しかし、もし夫がそれを聞き、あとになって、それを認めないならば、彼は妻の罪を負わなければならない」。 | But if he shall any ways make them void after that he hath heard them; then he shall bear her iniquity. |
| 16 | これらは主がモーセに命じられた定めであって、夫と妻との間、および父とまだ若くて父の家にいる娘との間に関するものである。 | These are the statutes, which the Lord commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, between the father and his daughter, being yet in her youth in her father’s house. |
