| 1 | 兄弟たちよ。霊の賜物については、次のことを知らずにいてもらいたくない。 | Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. |
| 2 | あなたがたがまだ異邦人であった時、誘われるまま、物の言えない偶像のところに引かれて行ったことは、あなたがたの承知しているとおりである。 | Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. |
| 3 | そこで、あなたがたに言っておくが、神の霊によって語る者はだれも「イエスはのろわれよ」とは言わないし、また、聖霊によらなければ、だれも「イエスは主である」と言うことができない。 | Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. |
| 4 | 霊の賜物は種々あるが、御霊は同じである。 | Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. |
| 5 | 務は種々あるが、主は同じである。 | And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. |
| 6 | 働きは種々あるが、すべてのものの中に働いてすべてのことをなさる神は、同じである。 | And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. |
| 7 | 各自が御霊の現れを賜わっているのは、全体の益になるためである。 | But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. |
| 8 | すなわち、ある人には御霊によって知恵の言葉が与えられ、ほかの人には、同じ御霊によって知識の言、 | For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; |
| 9 | またほかの人には、同じ御霊によって信仰、またほかの人には、一つの御霊によっていやしの賜物、 | To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; |
| 10 | またほかの人には力あるわざ、またほかの人には預言、またほかの人には霊を見わける力、またほかの人には種々の異言、またほかの人には異言を解く力が、与えられている。 | To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: |
| 11 | すべてこれらのものは、一つの同じ御霊の働きであって、御霊は思いのままに、それらを各自に分け与えられるのである。 | But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. |
| 12 | からだが一つであっても肢体は多くあり、また、からだのすべての肢体が多くあっても、からだは一つであるように、キリストの場合も同様である。 | For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. |
| 13 | なぜなら、わたしたちは皆、ユダヤ人もギリシヤ人も、奴隷も自由人も、一つの御霊によって、一つのからだとなるようにバプテスマを受け、そして皆一つの御霊を飲んだからである。 | For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. |
| 14 | 実際、からだは一つの肢体だけではなく、多くのものからできている。 | For the body is not one member, but many. |
| 15 | もし足が、わたしは手ではないから、からだに属していないと言っても、それで、からだに属さないわけではない。 | If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? |
| 16 | また、もし耳が、わたしは目ではないから、からだに属していないと言っても、それで、からだに属さないわけではない。 | And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? |
| 17 | もしからだ全体が目だとすれば、どこで聞くのか。もし、からだ全体が耳だとすれば、どこでかぐのか。 | If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? |
| 18 | そこで神は御旨のままに、肢体をそれぞれ、からだに備えられたのである。 | But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. |
| 19 | もし、すべてのものが一つの肢体なら、どこにからだがあるのか。 | And if they were all one member, where were the body? |
| 20 | ところが実際、肢体は多くあるが、からだは一つなのである。 | But now are they many members, yet but one body. |
| 21 | 目は手にむかって、「おまえはいらない」とは言えず、また頭は足にむかって、「おまえはいらない」とも言えない。 | And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. |
| 22 | そうではなく、むしろ、からだのうちで他よりも弱く見える肢体が、かえって必要なのであり、 | Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: |
| 23 | からだのうちで、他よりも見劣りがすると思えるところに、ものを着せていっそう見よくする。麗しくない部分はいっそう麗しくするが、 | And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. |
| 24 | 麗しい部分はそうする必要がない。神は劣っている部分をいっそう見よくして、からだに調和をお与えになったのである。 | For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked: |
| 25 | それは、からだの中に分裂がなく、それぞれの肢体が互にいたわり合うためなのである。 | That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. |
| 26 | もし一つの肢体が悩めば、ほかの肢体もみな共に悩み、一つの肢体が尊ばれると、ほかの肢体もみな共に喜ぶ。 | And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. |
| 27 | あなたがたはキリストのからだであり、ひとりびとりはその肢体である。 | Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. |
| 28 | そして、神は教会の中で、人々を立てて、第一に使徒、第二に預言者、第三に教師とし、次に力あるわざを行う者、次にいやしの賜物を持つ者、また補助者、管理者、種々の異言を語る者をおかれた。 | And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. |
| 29 | みんなが使徒だろうか。みんなが預言者だろうか。みんなが教師だろうか。みんなが力あるわざを行う者だろうか。 | Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? |
| 30 | みんながいやしの賜物を持っているのだろうか。みんなが異言を語るのだろうか。みんなが異言を解くのだろうか。 | Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? |
| 31 | だが、あなたがたは、更に大いなる賜物を得ようと熱心に努めなさい。そこで、わたしは最もすぐれた道をあなたがたに示そう。 | But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way. |
