1 それから三日目に，ガリラヤのカナで結婚式があった。イエスの母はそこにいた。 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2 イエスも弟子たちと共にその結婚式に招かれていた。 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
3 ブドウ酒がなくなった時，イエスの母は彼に言った，「彼らにはブドウ酒がありません」。 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
4 イエスは彼女に言った，「女よ，あなたはわたしとどんな関係があるのですか。わたしの時はまだ来ていません」。 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
5 彼の母は使用人たちに言った，「この人が言うことは何でもしてください」。 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
6 さて，そこには，ユダヤ人の清めの習慣のために石の水がめが六つあった。それぞれ二から三メトレテス入りであった。 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
7 イエスは彼らに言った，「水がめを水で満たしなさい」 。彼らは水がめを口まで満たした。 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
8 彼は彼らに言った，「さあ，少しくんで，宴会の幹事のところに持って行きなさい」 。そこで彼らはそれを持って行った。 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
9 宴会の幹事は今ではブドウ酒になった水を味わった。彼はそれがどこから来たのか知らなかった。（もっとも，水をくんだ使用人たちは知っていた。）その時，宴会の幹事は花婿を呼んで When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
10 こう言った。「だれでも，初めに良いブドウ酒を出して，それから客が自由に飲んでいる時に，より悪いブドウ酒を出すものだ。あなたは今まで良いブドウ酒を取って置いたのだな」。 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
11 イエスはこの最初のしるしをガリラヤのカナで行なって，自分の栄光を示した。それで，弟子たちは彼を信じた。 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
12 こののち，彼とその母，兄弟たち，および弟子たちはカペルナウムに下って行き，彼らはそこに何日か滞在した。 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.
13 ユダヤ人の過ぎ越しが近づいていたので，イエスはエルサレムに上って行った。 And the Jews’ passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,
14 彼は神殿で牛や羊やハトを売る者たち，また，座っている両替人たちを目にした。 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
15 彼は縄でむちを作り，羊や牛をすべて神殿から追い出した。両替屋の通貨をまき散らし，彼らの台をひっくり返した。 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables;
16 ハトを売る者たちに言った，「これらの物をここから持って行け！ わたしの父の家を市場にするな！」 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise.
17 弟子たちは，「あなたの家に対する熱心がわたしを食い尽くす」と書いてあることを思い出した。 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.
18 それでユダヤ人たちは彼に答えた，「こんな事をするからには，どんなしるしを見せてくれるのか」。 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
19 イエスは彼らに答えた，「この神殿を壊してみなさい。わたしは三日でそれを建て直そう」 。 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
20 それでユダヤ人たちは言った，「この神殿は四十六年かかって建てられたのに，あなたはそれを三日で建て直すと言うのか」。 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
21 しかし，彼は自分の体という神殿について話していた。 But he spake of the temple of his body.
22 それで，彼が死んだ者たちの中から生き返らされたのち，弟子たちは彼がこのように言っていたのを思い出した。そして，聖書とイエスの語った言葉とを信じた。 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
23 さて，彼が過ぎ越しの際，祭りの間にエルサレムにいた間，大勢の人が，彼の行なっていたしるしを見て，その名を信じた。 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
24 しかし，イエスは自分を彼らに託すことはしなかった。すべての人を知っていたからであり， But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,
25 人に関して証言する者を必要としなかったからである。自分で，人の内にある物を知っていたからである。 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
