| 1 | 「あなた方がつまずかないために，わたしはこれらの事をあなた方に話してきた。 | These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. |
| 2 | 彼らはあなた方を会堂から追い出すだろう。いやそれどころか，あなた方を殺す者がみな，自分は神に奉仕をささげたのだと思う時が来ようとしている。 | They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. |
| 3 | 彼らは父もわたしも知っていないので，これらの事を行なうことになる。 | And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me. |

And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you. |

| 7 | それでも，わたしはあなた方に真実を告げる。すなわち，わたしが去って行くことはあなた方の益になるのだ。わたしが去って行かなければ，助言者はあなた方のところに来ないからだ。だがわたしが行けば，わたしは彼をあなた方に遣わすことになる。 | Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. |
| 8 | 彼はやって来ると，罪について，義について，また裁きについて，世を責めるだろう。 | And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: |
| 9 | 罪についてというのは，彼らがわたしを信じていないからだ。 | Of sin, because they believe not on me; |
| 10 | 義についてというのは，わたしが自分の父のもとに行こうとしており，あなた方はもはやわたしを見なくなるからだ。 | Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; |
| 11 | 裁きについてというのは，世の支配者が裁かれたからだ。 | Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. |
| 12 | 「わたしには，まだあなた方に告げるべきたくさんの事柄があるが，あなた方は今はそれに耐えられない。 | I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. |
| 13 | しかし，真理の霊が来る時には，彼はあらゆる真理に導くだろう。彼は自分から語るのではなく，何でも自分が聞くことを話すことになるからだ。彼はあなた方に，起ころうとしている事柄を知らせるだろう。 | Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. |
| 14 | 彼はわたしの栄光を現わすだろう。彼はわたしのものから受けて，あなた方にそれを知らせるからだ。 | He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. |
| 15 | 何でも父が持っておられる物はすべてわたしのものだ。それでわたしは，彼がわたしのものから受けており，それをあなた方に知らせることになると言ったのだ。 | All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you. |
| 16 | しばらくすると，あなた方はわたしを見なくなる。またしばらくすると，あなた方はわたしを見ることになる」 。 | A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. |
| 17 | それで，弟子たちの何人かは互いに言い合った，「『しばらくすると，あなた方はわたしを見なくなる。またしばらくすると，あなた方はわたしを見ることになる』 とか，『わたしは父のもとに行くからだ』 と言われるが，これは何のことだろう」。 | Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father? |
| 18 | それで彼らは言った，「『しばらくすると』 と言われるが，これは何のことだろう。我々はこの方の言われることが分からない」。 | They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith. |
| 19 | それでイエスは，彼らが自分に尋ねたがっているのに気づいて，彼らに言った，「あなた方は互いに，『しばらくすると，あなた方はわたしを見なくなり，またしばらくすると，あなた方はわたしを見ることになる』とわたしが言ったこのことに関して尋ね合っているのか。 | Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me? |
| 20 | 本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。あなた方は泣き悲しむが，世は喜ぶことになる。あなた方は悲嘆にくれるが，あなた方の悲嘆は喜びに変えられることになる。 | Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. |
| 21 | 女は出産する時，自分の時が来たことで悲嘆する。だが子供を生んでしまうと，一人の人が世に生まれたという喜びのために，もはやその苦痛を覚えていない。 | A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. |
| 22 | だから，あなた方には今は悲嘆があるが，わたしは再びあなた方を見るので，あなた方の心は喜ぶことになり，その喜びをあなた方から取り去る者はいない。 | And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. |
| 23 | 「その日には，あなた方はわたしに何の質問もしないだろう。本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。あなた方がわたしの名において父に求めることは何でも，その方はあなた方に与えてくださる。 | And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. |
| 24 | 今まで，あなた方はわたしの名において何も求めたことがない。求めなさい。そうすればあなた方は受けるだろう。それは，あなた方の喜びが満たされるためだ。 | Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. |
| 25 | わたしはこれらの事をあなた方に比ゆで話してきた。だが，わたしがもはやあなた方に比ゆで話すのではなく，父についてはっきりと告げることになる時が来ようとしている。 | These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father. |
| 26 | その日には，あなた方はわたしの名によって求めることになる。そしてわたしはあなた方に，わたしがあなた方のために父に願うことになるとは言わない。 | At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: |
| 27 | 父ご自身があなた方を愛しておられるからだ。あなた方がわたしを愛し，わたしが神のもとから出て来たことを信じているからだ。 | For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. |
| 28 | わたしは父のもとから出て来て，世に来ている。再び，わたしは世を去り，父のもとに行く」 。 | I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. |
| 29 | 弟子たちは彼に言った，「ご覧ください。今，あなたははっきりと話しておられ，何の比ゆも話されません。 | His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb. |
| 30 | 今わたしたちは，あなたがすべての事を知っておられ，だれもあなたに質問する必要のないことが分かります。このことによって，わたしたちはあなたが神のもとから出て来られたのだということを信じます」。 | Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God. |
| 31 | イエスは彼らに答えた，「あなた方は今は信じているのか。 | Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? |
| 32 | 見よ，あなた方がみな，自分の所に散らされて，わたしをひとりにする時が来ようとしている。いや，今来ている。それでも，わたしはひとりではない。父がわたしと共におられるからだ。 | Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. |
| 33 | わたしにあってあなた方に平和があるように，わたしはあなた方にこれらの事を話した。世にあってあなた方には苦しみがあるが，元気を出しなさい！ わたしは世に打ち勝ったのだ」 。 | These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. |
