| 1 | さて，ペンテコステの日が来た時，みんなは心を合わせて一つの場所にいた。 | And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. |
| 2 | 突然，激しい風が吹きつけるような音が天から起こり，彼らが座っていた家全体を満たした。 | And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. |
| 3 | 火のような舌が現われて彼らに配られ，それぞれの上にとどまった。 | And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. |
| 4 | みんなは聖霊に満たされ，話す能力を霊が与えるままに，さまざまな異なる言語で話し始めた。 | And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. |
| 5 | さて，エルサレムには，天下のあらゆる国から来た敬けんなユダヤ人たちが住んでいた。 | And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. |
| 6 | この音を聞いて群衆が集まって来たが，おのおの自分の言語で話されているのを聞いて，あっけに取られた。 | Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. |
| 7 | みんなは驚き，不思議に思って互いに言った，「見よ，話しているこの人たちは皆ガリラヤ人ではないか。 | And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans? |
| 8 | わたしたちがおのおの自分の生まれ故郷の言語で聞くとは，いったいどういうことだろう。 | And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? |
| 9 | わたしたちは，パルティア人，メディア人，エラム人，そして，メソポタミア，ユダヤ，カッパドキア，ポントス，アシア， | Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, |
| 10 | フリュギア，パンフィリア，エジプト，キュレネに近いリビア地方からの者たち，また，ローマからの訪問者であって，ユダヤ人もいれば改宗者もおり， | Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, |
| 11 | クレタ人もいればアラビア人もいるのに，彼らが自分たちの言語で神の強力な業について話すのを聞いているのだ！」 | Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. |
| 12 | みんなは驚き，当惑して互いに言った，「これはどういうことだろう」。 | And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this? |
| 13 | ほかの者たちはあざけって言った，「彼らは新しいブドウ酒に満たされているのだ」。 | Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine. |
| 14 | しかし，ペトロが十一人と共に立ち上がり，声を張り上げて彼らに語りかけた。「ユダヤの人たち，またエルサレムに住むすべての人たち，このことを知ってください。そして，わたしの言葉に耳を傾けてください。 | But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: |
| 15 | まだ昼間の第三時なのですから，この人たちは，あなた方が思っているように，酒に酔っているのではありません。 | For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. |
| 16 | そうではなく，これは預言者ヨエルを通して語られていたことなのです。 | But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; |
| 17 | 『神は言われる。終わりの日々に，わたしはすべての肉なる者の上にわたしの霊を注ぎ出す。あなた方の息子たちや娘たちは預言するだろう。あなた方の若者たちは幻を見るだろう。あなた方の老人たちは夢を見るだろう。 | And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: |
| 18 | 実に，その日々には，わたしの召使いたちと女召使いたちにも， わたしの霊を注ぎ出す。すると，彼らは預言するだろう。 | And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: |
| 19 | わたしは，上では天に不思議な業を，下では地にしるしを示す。すなわち，血と火と立ちのぼる煙とを。 | And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: |
| 20 | 主の偉大な輝かしい日が来る前に，太陽は闇に，月は血に変わるだろう。 | The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: |
| 21 | 主の名を呼び求める者はみな救われるだろう』。 | And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. |
| 22 | 「イスラエルの人たち，この言葉を聞きなさい！ ナザレのイエス，すなわち，あなた方が知っているように，神が彼を通してあなた方の間で行なわれた数々の強力な業と不思議な業としるしとによって，神からあなた方に認証されたこの人を， | Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: |
| 23 | 神のお定めになった考えと予知とによって引き渡されたこの方を，あなた方は不法な者たちの手を借りて，はりつけにして殺しました。 | Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: |
| 24 | 神は彼を死の苦痛から解放して，生き返らされたのです。彼が死に支配されたままでいることはあり得なかったからです。 | Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. |
| 25 | ダビデは彼についてこう言っているからです。 『わたしはいつも目の前に主を見た。わたしが揺り動かされないように，わたしの右にいてくださるからだ。 | For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: |
| 26 | それゆえに，わたしの心は楽しみ，わたしの舌は喜んだ。さらに，わたしの肉体も希望のうちに住むだろう。 | Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: |
| 27 | あなたはわたしの魂をハデスに捨て置かず，あなたの聖なる者が腐敗を見ることもお許しにならないからです。 | Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. |
| 28 | 命の道をわたしに知らせてくださいました。あなたのみ前でわたしを喜びに満たしてくださるでしょう』。 | Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance. |
| 29 | 「兄弟たち，族長ダビデについては，彼が死んで葬られ，その墓は今日に至るまでわたしたちのところにあると，率直に言うことができます。 | Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. |
| 30 | ですから，彼は預言者であって，神が自分に，その腰の実から肉によってキリストを起こして王座に着かせると誓ってくださったことを知っていて， | Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; |
| 31 | キリストの復活について予見し，その魂がハデスに捨て置かれることはなく，その肉体が腐敗を見ることもないと語ったわけです。 | He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. |
| 32 | このイエスを神は生き返らされました。わたしたちは皆そのことの証人です。 | This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. |
| 33 | こうして，この方は神の右に上げられ，父から約束の聖霊を受けて，それを注ぎ出してくださったのです。今あなた方が見聞きしているのはそれなのです。 | Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. |
| 34 | ダビデはもろもろの天に上りませんでしたが，自らこう言っています。 『主はわたしの主に言われた，「わたしの右に座っていなさい， | For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, |
| 35 | わたしがあなたの敵たちをあなたの足台とするまで」』。 | Until I make thy foes thy footstool. |
| 36 | 「ですから，イスラエルの全家ははっきりと知っておきなさい。あなた方がはりつけにしたこのイエスを，神は主ともキリストともされたのです」。 | Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. |
| 37 | さて，これを聞くと，人々は心を刺され，ペトロとほかの使徒たちに言った，「兄弟たち，わたしたちはどうしたらよいのでしょうか」。 | Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? |
| 38 | ペトロは彼らに言った，「悔い改めなさい。そして，あなた方はそれぞれ，罪の許しのためにイエス・キリストの名においてバプテスマを受けなさい。そうすれば，聖霊を贈り物として受けるでしょう。 | Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. |
| 39 | この約束は，わたしたちの神なる主がそのもとに召される人々，つまり，あなた方と，あなた方の子ら，そして遠くにいるすべての人たちに対するものなのです」。 | For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. |
| 40 | 彼はほかにも多くの言葉で証言し，彼らに勧めて言った，「この曲がった世代から自分を救いなさい！」 | And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. |
| 41 | それで，彼の言葉を喜んで受け入れた人たちはバプテスマを受けた。その日におよそ三千人の魂が加えられた。 | Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. |
| 42 | 彼らは，使徒たちの教えと，交わりと，パンを裂くことと，祈りとのうちにひたすらとどまっていた。 | And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. |
| 43 | 恐れがすべての魂に生じ，多くの不思議な業としるしが使徒たちによって行なわれていた。 | And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. |
| 44 | 信じた者たちは皆一緒にいて，すべての物を共有した。 | And all that believed were together, and had all things common; |
| 45 | 自分たちの所有物や持ち物を売り，必要に応じてみんなに分配した。 | And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. |
| 46 | 日ごとに，心を合わせて神殿にひたすらとどまっており，家ではパンを裂き，喜びとまごころをもって食事を共にし， | And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, |
| 47 | 神を賛美し，民のすべてから好意を持たれていた。主は，救われてゆく人々を日ごとにその集会に加えていった。 | Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. |
