| 1 | 数日後，再びカペルナウムに入ると，彼が家にいることが知れ渡った。 | And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. |
| 2 | すぐに大勢の人が集まったので，戸口のあたりにさえ，もう場所がなかった。それで彼は人々にみ言葉を語った。 | And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. |
| 3 | 四人の人たちが，彼のもとに体のまひした人を運んで来た。 | And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. |
| 4 | 群衆のために彼のそばに近づくことができなかったので，彼がいる所の屋根を取り除いた。それを解体してしまうと，彼らは体のまひした人が横たわっている寝床を降ろした。 | And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. |

| 6 | ところが，そこに数人の律法学者たちが座っていて，心の中でこう論じていた。 | But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, |
| 7 | 「なぜこの人はこのような冒とくを語るのか。神おひとりのほか，だれが罪を許せるだろうか」。 | Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only? |
| 8 | すぐにイエスは，彼らが心の中でこのように論じているのを自分の霊によって気づき，彼らに言った，「なぜあなた方は心の中でこうしたことを論じているのか。 | And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? |
| 9 | 体のまひした人に，『あなたの罪は許されている』と告げるのと，『起き上がって，寝台を取り上げて歩きなさい』と言うのでは，どちらがたやすいか。 | Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? |
| 10 | だが，人の子が地上で罪を許す権威を持っていることをあなた方が知るために」 ―体のまひした人に言った― | But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) |
| 11 | 「あなたに告げる。起き上がって，寝台を取り上げて，自分の家に帰りなさい」 。 | I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. |
| 12 | その人は起き上がり，すぐに寝床を取り上げて，みんなの前を出て行った。そこで人々はすっかり驚き，「このようなことは今まで見たことがない」と言って，神に栄光をささげた。 | And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion. |
| 13 | 彼は再び海辺に出て行った。群衆が皆，そのもとにやって来た。それで彼は人々を教えた。 | And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them. |
| 14 | 通りすがりに，アルファイオスの子レビが収税所に座っているのを見て，「わたしに従いなさい」 と言った。すると彼は立ち上がって，イエスに従った。 | And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alpheus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him. |
| 15 | 彼の家でイエスが食卓に横になっていたときのことである。大勢の徴税人や罪人が，イエスや弟子たちと共に座っていた。大勢の人がいて，イエスに従っていたからである。 | And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him. |
| 16 | 律法学者たちとファリサイ人たちは，彼が罪人たちや徴税人たちと共に食事をしているのを見て，彼の弟子たちに言った，「なぜ彼は，徴税人たちや罪人たちと共に食べたり飲んだりするのか」。 | And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? |
| 17 | イエスはこれを聞いて，彼らに言った，「健康な人たちに医者は必要でなく，病気の人たちに必要なのだ。わたしは義人たちではなく，罪人たちを悔い改めへと呼び寄せるために来た」 。 | When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. |
| 18 | ヨハネの弟子たちとファリサイ人たちが断食していると，人々はやって来て彼に尋ねた，「ヨハネの弟子たちとファリサイ人の弟子たちは断食するのに，あなたの弟子たちが断食しないのはなぜですか」。 | And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not? |
| 19 | イエスは彼らに言った，「花婿の付き添い役は，花婿が共にいるのに断食できるだろうか。花婿が共にいる間は，彼らは断食できない。 | And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. |
| 20 | だが，花婿が彼らから取り去られる日々が来る。その日には，彼らは断食するだろう。 | But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days. |
| 21 | 縮んでいない布切れを古い衣に縫いつける人はいない。そんなことをすれば，継ぎ切れが縮んで，新しいものが古いものを引き裂き，破れはいっそうひどくなる。 | No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse. |
| 22 | 新しいブドウ酒を古い皮袋に入れる人はいない。そんなことをすれば，新しいブドウ酒は皮袋を破裂させ，ブドウ酒は流れ出て，皮はだめになるだろう。そうではなく，人々は新しいブドウ酒を新しい皮袋に入れるのだ」 。 | And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles. |
| 23 | 彼が安息日に穀物畑を通っていたときのこと，彼の弟子たちは進みながら穀物の穂を摘み始めた。 | And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn. |
| 24 | ファリサイ人たちが彼に言った，「見よ，なぜ彼らは安息日に許されていないことをしているのか」。 | And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful? |
| 25 | 彼は彼らに言った，「ダビデが，自分も共にいた者たちも窮乏して空腹だったときに何をしたか，あなた方は一度も読んだことがないのか。 | And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him? |
| 26 | アビアタルが大祭司だったときに，彼がどのようにして神の家に入り，祭司たちのほかは食べることが許されていない供えのパンを食べ，共にいた者たちにも与えたかを」 。 | How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him? |
| 27 | 彼らに言った，「安息日は人のために作られたのであって，人が安息日のために作られたのではない。 | And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: |
| 28 | だから，人の子は安息日の主でもあるのだ」 。 | Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath. |
