1 彼らがエルサレムに，つまりオリーブ山のふもとのベツファゲとベタニアに近づいた時，彼は弟子たちのうちの二人を遣わして And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples,
2 彼らに言った，「向こうの村に行きなさい。そこに入るとすぐに，だれも乗ったことのない子ロバがつないであるのが見つかるだろう。それを解いて，連れて来なさい。 And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.
3 もしだれかが，『なぜこんなことをしているのか』と尋ねるなら，『主がこれを必要としているのです。そして，すぐにここに送り返されるでしょう』と言いなさい」。 And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.
4 彼らは出て行き，表通りに面した外の戸口に子ロバがつないであるのを見つけて，それを解いた。 And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.
5 そこに立っていた者たちのうちの数人が彼らに尋ねた，「その子ロバを解いたりして，何をしているのだ」。 And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt?
6 イエスの言ったとおりに言うと，その者たちは行かせてくれた。 And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go.
7 その子ロバをイエスのもとに連れて来て，その上に自分たちの外衣を投げかけた。するとイエスはそれに乗った。 And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him.
8 大勢の人が自分たちの外衣を道に敷き，またほかの者たちは木から枝を切り落として来て街道に敷いていた。 And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way.
9 先に行く者も付いて行く者も，叫んで言った，「ホサンナ！ 主の名において来る者は幸いだ！ And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:
10 主の名において来ようとしている我らの父ダビデの王国は幸いだ！ いと高き所にホサンナ！」 Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.
11 イエスはエルサレムで神殿に入った。あらゆるものを見回してから，もう夕方になっていたので，十二人と共にベタニアに出て行った。 And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve.
12 その次の日，彼らがベタニアから出て来た時，彼は空腹を感じた。 And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:
13 はるか遠くでイチジクの木が葉をつけているのを見て，そこに何か見つかるかも知れないと見に行った。そこに来てみると，葉のほかには何も見つからなかった。イチジクの季節ではなかったからである。 And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.
14 イエスはその木に告げた，「もうだれも，二度とお前から実を食べることがないように！」 そして弟子たちはそれを聞いていた。 And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.
15 彼らはエルサレムにやって来た。そしてイエスは神殿に入り，神殿で売り買いしていた者たちを追い出し始め，両替人たちの台とハトを売る者たちの腰掛けをひっくり返した。 And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;
16 だれにも神殿を通って器物を運ぶことを許さなかった。 And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.
17 彼は教えて，彼らに言った，「『わたしの家はあらゆる民族のための祈りの家と呼ばれるだろう』と書かれていないだろうか。それなのにあなた方は，それを強盗たちの巣にしてしまった！」 And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.
18 祭司長たちと律法学者たちはこれを聞いて，どうやって彼を滅ぼそうかと探り求めた。というのは，群衆がみなその教えに驚いていたので，彼らは彼を恐れていたからである。 And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.
19 夕方になった時，彼は都から出て行った。 And when even was come, he went out of the city.
20 朝早く，通りすがりに，彼らはあのイチジクの木が根もとから枯れているのを目にした。 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.
21 ペトロは思い出して彼に言った，「ラビ，ご覧ください！ あなたがのろわれたあのイチジクの木は枯れてしまいました」。 And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.
22 イエスは彼らに答えた，「神に信仰を持ちなさい。 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23 本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げるが，だれでもこの山に『持ち上げられて海の中に投げ込まれるように』と言って，心の中で疑わず，自分の言っていることは起きるのだと信じる者は，自分の言っていることを得ることになるからだ。 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 だからあなた方に告げる。あなた方が祈りかつ求めるものは何でも，それを受けるのだと信じなさい。そうすればそれを得ることになる。 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
25 あなた方が立って祈る時に，だれかに対して恨み事があるなら，それを許しなさい。そうすれば，天におられるあなた方の父もあなた方の違反を許してくださるだろう。 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26 だが，もし許さないなら，あなた方の天の父も，あなた方の違反を許してくださらないだろう」。 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
27 彼らは再びエルサレムにやって来た。そして彼が神殿の中を歩いていると，祭司長たちや律法学者たちや長老たちが彼のもとにやって来た。 And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders,
28 そして彼らは彼にこう言い始めた。「あなたは何の権威によってこうした事をするのか。また，だれがこうした事をするその権威をあなたに与えたのか」。 And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things?
29 イエスは彼らに言った，「あなた方に一つのことを尋ねよう。わたしに答えなさい，そうすれば，何の権威によってこうした事をするのかをあなた方に告げよう。 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will also ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.
30 ヨハネのバプテスマは天からのものだったか，それとも人からのものだったか。わたしに答えなさい」 。 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? answer me.
31 彼らは互いに論じ合って言った，「我々が『天から』と言えば，彼は『あなた方が彼を信じなかったのはなぜか』と言うだろう。 And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did ye not believe him?
32 我々が『人から』と言えば」―彼らは民を恐れた。みんながヨハネは実際に預言者だったと考えていたからである。 But if we shall say, Of men; they feared the people: for all men counted John, that he was a prophet indeed.
33 彼らはイエスに答えた，「わたしたちは知らない」。 イエスは彼らに言った，「わたしも，何の権威によってこうした事をするのかをあなた方に告げない」 。 And they answered and said unto Jesus, We cannot tell. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.
