| 1 | されば共に天の召を蒙れる聖なる兄弟よ、我らが言ひあらはす信仰の使徒たり大 祭司たるイエスを思ひ見よ。 | Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; |
| 2 | 彼の己を立て給ひし者に忠實なるは、モーセが神の全家に忠實なりしが如し。 | Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. |
| 3 | 家を造る者の家より勝りて尊ばるる如く、彼もモーセに勝りて大なる榮光を受くるに相應しき者とせられ給へり。 | For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house. |
| 4 | 家は凡て之を造る者あり、萬の物を造り給ひし者は神なり。 | For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God. |
| 5 | モーセは後に語り傳へられんと爲ることの證をせんために、僕として神の全家に忠實なりしが、 | And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; |
| 6 | キリストは子として神の家を忠實に掌どり給へり。我等もし確信と希望の誇とを終まで堅く保たば、神の家なり。 | But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. |
| 7 | この故に聖 靈の言ひ給ふごとく『今日なんぢら神の聲を聞かば、 | Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, |
| 8 | その怒を惹きし時のごとく、荒野の嘗試の日のごとく、こころを頑固にするなかれ。 | Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: |
| 9 | 彼處にて汝らの先祖たちは我をこころみて驗し、かつ四十 年の間わが業を見たり。 | When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. |
| 10 | この故に我この代の人を憤ほりて云へり、「彼らは常に心まよい、わが途を知らざりき」と。 | Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. |
| 11 | われ怒をもて「彼らは、我が休に入るべからず」と誓へり』 | So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.) |
| 12 | 兄弟よ、心せよ、恐らくは汝 等のうち活ける神を離れんとする不 信仰の惡しき心を懷く者あらん。 | Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. |
| 13 | 汝 等のうち誰も罪の誘惑によりて頑固にならぬやう、今日と稱ふる間に日々 互に相 勸めよ。 | But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. |
| 14 | もし始の確信を終まで堅く保たば、我らはキリストに與る者となるなり。 | For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; |
| 15 | それ『今日なんじら神の聲を聞かば、その怒を惹きし時のごとく、こころを頑固にするなかれ』と云へ。 | While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. |
| 16 | 然れば聞きてなほ怒を惹きし者は誰なるか、モーセによりてエジプトを出でし凡ての人にあらずや。 | For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. |
| 17 | また四十 年のあひだ、神は誰に對して憤ほり給ひしか、罪を犯してその死屍を荒野に横たへし人々にあらずや。 | But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? |
| 18 | 又かれらは我が安息に入るべからずとは、誰に對して誓ひ給ひしか、不 從順なる者にあらずや。 | And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? |
| 19 | 之によりて見れば、彼らの入ること能はざりしは、不 信仰によりてなり。 | So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. |
