1 イスラエルよ異邦人のごとく喜びすさむ勿れなんぢ淫行をなして汝の神を離る汝すべての麥の打塲にて賜はる淫行の賞賜を愛せり Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.
2 打場と酒榨とはかれらを養はじ亦あたらしき酒もむなしくならん The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail in her.
3 かれらはヱホバの地にとどまらずエフライムはエジプトに歸りアッスリヤにて汚穢たる物を食はん They shall not dwell in the Lord’s land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean things in Assyria.
4 彼等はヱホバにむかひて酒を灌ぐべき者にあらずその祭物はヱホバの悦びたまふ所にあらずかれらの犠牲は喪に居もののパンのごとし凡てこれを食ふものは汚るべし彼等のパンは只おのが食ふためにのみ用ゐべくしてヱホバの家に入るべきにあらず They shall not offer wine offerings to the Lord, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted: for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the Lord.
5 なんぢら集會の日とヱホバの節會の日に何をなさんとするや What will ye do in the solemn day, and in the day of the feast of the Lord?
6 視よかれら滅亡の故によりて去ゆきぬエジプトかれらをあつめメンピスかれらを葬らん蒺藜かれらが銀の寳物を獲いばら彼らの天幕に蔓らん For, lo, they are gone because of destruction: Egypt shall gather them up, Memphis shall bury them: the pleasant places for their silver, nettles shall possess them: thorns shall be in their tabernacles.
7 刑罰の日きたり應報の日きたれりイスラエルこれを知ん預言者は愚なるもの霊に感じたるものは狂へるものなりこれ汝の惡おほく汝の怨恨おほいなるに因る The days of visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the spiritual man is mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.
8 エフライムは我が神にならべて他の神をも佇望めり預言者の一切の途は鳥を捕ふる者の網のごとく且その神の室の中にて怨恨を懐けり The watchman of Ephraim was with my God: but the prophet is a snare of a fowler in all his ways, and hatred in the house of his God.
9 かれらはギベアの日のごとく甚だしく惡き事を行へりヱホバはその惡をこころに記てその罪を罰したまはん They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: therefore he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.
10 在昔われイスラエルを見ること荒野の葡萄のごとく汝らの先祖等を看ること無花果樹の始にむすべる最先の果の如くなししに彼等はバアルペオルにゆきて身を恥辱にゆだねその愛する物とともに憎むべき者とはなれり I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baal–peor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.
11 エフライムの榮光は鳥のごとく飛さらん即ち產ことも孕むことも妊娠こともなかるべし As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird, from the birth, and from the womb, and from the conception.
12 假令かれら子等を育つるとも我その子を喪ひて遺る人なきにいたらしめん我が離るる時かれらの禍大なる哉 Though they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, that there shall not be a man left: yea, woe also to them when I depart from them!
13 われエフライムを美地に植てツロのごとくなししかどもエフライムはその子等を携へいだして人を殺すに付さんとす Ephraim, as I saw Tyrus, is planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer.
14 ヱホバよ彼らに與へたまへ汝なにを與へんとしたまふや孕まざる胎と乳なき乳房とを與へたまへ Give them, O Lord: what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.
15 かれらが凡の惡はギルガルにあり此故に我かしこにて之を惡めりその行爲あしければ我が家より逐いだし重て愛することをせじその牧伯等はみな悖れる者なり All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes are revolters.
16 エフライムは撃れその根はかれて果を結ぶまじ若し產ことあらば我その胎なる愛しむ實を殺さん Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb.
17 かれら聽從はざるによりて我が神これを棄たまふべしかれらは列國民のうちに流離人とならん My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.
