| 1 | イスラエルの幼かりしとき我これを愛しぬ我わが子をエジプトより呼いだしたり | When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt. |
| 2 | かれらは呼るるに隨ひていよいよその呼者に遠ざかり且もろもろのバアルに犠牲をささげ雕たる偶像に香を焚り | As they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images. |
| 3 | われエフライムに歩むことををしへ彼等をわが腕にのせて抱けり然どかれらは我にいやされたるを知ず | I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them. |
| 4 | われ人にもちゐる索すなはち愛のつなをもて彼等をひけり我がかれらを待ふは軛をその腮より擧のくるもののごとくにして彼等に食物をあたへたり | I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them. |
| 5 | かれらはエジプトの地にかへらじ然どかれらがヱホバに歸らざるによりてアッスリヤ人その王とならん | He shall not return into the land of Egypt, but the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return. |
| 6 | 劍かれらの諸邑にまはりゆきてその關門をこぼち彼らをその謀計の故によりて滅さん | And the sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour them, because of their own counsels. |
| 7 | わが民はともすれば我にはなれんとする心あり人これを招きて上に在るものに屬しめんとすれども身をおこすもの一人だになし | And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him. |
| 8 | エフライムよ我いかで汝をすてんやイスラエルよ我いかで汝をわたさんや我いかで汝をアデマのごとくせんや爭でなんぢをゼボイムのごとく爲んやわが心わが衷にかはりて我の愛憐ことごとく燃おこれり | How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together. |
| 9 | 我わが烈しき震怒をほどこすことをせじ我かさねてエフライムを滅すことをせじ我は人にあらず神なればなり我は汝のうちにいます聖者なりいかりをもて臨まじ | I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city. |
| 10 | かれらは獅子の吼るごとくに聲を出したまふヱホバに隨ひて歩まんヱホバ聲を出したまへば子等は西より急ぎ來らん | They shall walk after the Lord: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west. |
| 11 | かれらエジプトより鳥のごとくアッスリヤより鴿のごとくに急ぎ來らん我かれらをその家々に住はしむべし是ヱホバの聖言なり | They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, saith the Lord. |
| 12 | エフライムは謊言をもてイスラエルの家は詐僞をもて我を圍めりユダは神と信ある聖者とに屬きみつかずみ漂蕩をれり | Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints. |
