1 是等の事の後ヱホバの言異象の中にアブラムに臨て曰くアブラムよ懼るなかれ我は汝の干櫓なり汝の賚は甚大なるべし After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.
2 アブラム言けるは主ヱホバよ何を我に與んとしたまふや我は子なくして居り此ダマスコのエリエゼル我が家の相續人なり And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?
3 アブラム又言けるは視よ爾子を我にたまはず我の家の子わが嗣子とならんとすと And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.
4 ヱホバの言彼にのぞみて曰く此者は爾の嗣子となるべからず汝の身より出る者爾の嗣子となるべしと And, behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.
5 斯てヱホバ彼を外に携へ出して言たまひけるは天を望みて星を數へ得るかを見よと又彼に言たまひけるは汝の子孫は是のごとくなるべしと And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.
6 アブラム、ヱホバを信ずヱホバこれを彼の義となしたまへり And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
7 又彼に言たまひけるは我は此地を汝に與へて之を有たしめんとて汝をカルデアのウルより導き出せるヱホバなり And he said unto him, I am the Lord that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.
8 彼言けるは主ヱホバよ我いかにして我之を有つことを知るべきや And he said, Lord God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?
9 ヱホバ彼に言たまひけるは三歳の牝牛と三歳の牝山羊と三歳の牡羊と山鳩および雛き鴿を我ために取れと And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.
10 彼乃ち是等を皆取て之を中より剖き其剖たる者を各相對はしめて置り但鳥は剖ざりき And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not.
11 鷙鳥其死體の上に下る時はアブラム之を驅はらへり And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away.
12 斯て日の沒る頃アブラム酣く睡りしが其大に暗きを覺えて懼れたり And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.
13 時にヱホバ、アブラムに言たまひけるは爾確に知るべし爾の子孫他人の國に旅人となりて其人々に服事へん彼等四百年のあひだ之を惱さん And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
14 又其服事たる國民は我之を鞫かん其後彼等は大なる財貨を携へて出ん And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
15 爾は安然に爾の父祖の所にゆかん爾は遐齡に逹りて葬らるべし And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.
16 四代に及びて彼等此に返りきたらん其はアモリ人の惡未だ貫盈ざれば也と But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.
17 斯て日の沒て黑暗となりし時烟と火焔の出る爐其切剖たる物の中を通過り And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.
18 是日にヱホバ、アブラムと契約をなして言たまひけるは我此地をエジプトの河より彼大河即ちユフラテ河まで爾の子孫に與ふ In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
19 即ちケニ人ケナズ人カデモニ人 The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,
20 ヘテ人ペリジ人レパイム人 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,
21 アモリ人カナン人ギルガシ人ヱブス人の地是なり And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
