| 1 | しばしば責られてもなほ強項なる者は救はるることなくして猝然に滅されん | He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. |
| 2 | 義者ませば民よろこび 惡きもの權を掌らば民かなしむ | When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. |
| 3 | 智慧を愛する人はその父を悦ばせ 妓婦に交る者はその財產を費す | Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance. |
| 4 | 王は公義をもて國を堅うす されど租税を征取る者はこれを滅す | The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it. |
| 5 | その鄰に諂ふ者はかれの脚の前に羅を張る | A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet. |
| 6 | 惡人の罪の中には罟あり 然ど義者は歓び樂しむ | In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice. |
| 7 | 義きものは貧きものの訟をかへりみる 然ど惡人は之を知ることを願はず | The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it. |
| 8 | 嘲笑人は城邑を擾し 智慧ある者は怒をしづむ | Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath. |
| 9 | 智慧ある人おろかなる人と爭へば或は怒り或は笑ひて休むことなし | If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest. |
| 10 | 血をながす人は直き人を惡む されど義き者はその生命を救はんことを求む | The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul. |
| 11 | 愚なる者はその怒をことごとく露はし 智慧ある者は之を心に蔵む | A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards. |
| 12 | 君王もし虚偽の言を聽かばその臣みな惡し | If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked. |
| 13 | 貧者と苛酷者と偕に世にをる ヱホバは彼等の目に光をあたへ給ふ | The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the Lord lighteneth both their eyes. |
| 14 | 眞實をもて弱者を審判する王はその位つねに堅く立つべし | The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever. |
| 15 | 鞭と譴責とは智慧をあたふ 任意になしおかれたる子はその母を辱しむ | The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame. |
| 16 | 惡きもの多ければ罪も亦おほし 義者は彼等の傾覆をみん | When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall. |
| 17 | なんぢの子を懲せ さらば彼なんぢを安からしめ 又なんぢの心に喜樂を與へん | Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul. |
| 18 | 默示なければ民は放肆にす 律法を守るものは福ひなり | Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. |
| 19 | 僕は言をもて譴むるとも改めず 彼は知れども從はざればなり | A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer. |
| 20 | なんぢ言を謹まざる人を見しや 彼よりは却て愚なる者に望あり | Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him. |
| 21 | 僕をその幼なき時より柔かに育てなば終には子の如くならしめん | He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the length. |
| 22 | 怒る人は爭端を起し憤る人は罪おほし | An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression. |
| 23 | 人の傲慢はおのれを卑くし 心に謙だる者は榮譽を得 | A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. |
| 24 | 盗人に黨する者はおのれの霊魂を惡むなり 彼は誓を聽けども説述べず | Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not. |
| 25 | 人を畏るれば罟におちいる ヱホバをたのむ者は護られん | The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe. |
| 26 | 君の慈悲を求むる者はおほし 然れど人の事を定むるはヱホバによる | Many seek the ruler’s favour; but every man’s judgment cometh from the Lord. |
| 27 | 不義をなす人は義者の惡むところ 義くあゆむ人は惡者の惡むところなり | An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked. |
