| 1 | 時にシユヒ人ビルダデ答へて曰く | Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said, |
| 2 | 何時まで汝かかる事を言や 何時まで汝の口の言語を大風のごとくにするや | How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind? |
| 3 | 神あに審判を曲たまはんや 全能者あに公義を曲たまはんや | Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice? |
| 4 | 汝の子等かれに罪を獲たるにや之をその愆の手に付したまへり | If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression; |
| 5 | 汝もし神に求め 全能者に祈り | If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty; |
| 6 | 清くかつ正しうしてあらば必ず今汝を顧み汝の義き家を榮えしめたまはん | If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous. |
| 7 | 然らば汝の始は微小くあるとも汝の終は甚だ大ならん | Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase. |
| 8 | 請ふ汝過にし代の人に問へ 彼らの父祖の尋究めしところの事を學べ | For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers: |
| 9 | (我らは昨日より有しのみにて何をも知ず 我らが世にある日は影のごとし) | (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:) |
| 10 | 彼等なんぢを敎へ汝を諭し 言をその心より出さざらんや | Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart? |
| 11 | 葦あに泥なくして長んや 萩あに水なくしてそだたんや | Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water? |
| 12 | 是はその靑くして未だ刈ざる時にも他の一切の草よりは早く槁る | Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb. |
| 13 | 神を忘るる者の道は凡て是のごとく 悖る者の望は空しくなる | So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite’s hope shall perish: |
| 14 | その恃む所は絶れ その倚ところは蜘蛛網のごとし | Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider’s web. |
| 15 | その家に倚かからんとすれば家立ず 之に堅くとりすがるも保たじ | He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure. |
| 16 | 彼日の前に靑緑を呈はし その枝を園に蔓延らせ | He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden. |
| 17 | その根を石堆に盤みて石の屋を眺むれども | His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones. |
| 18 | 若その處より取のぞかれなばその處これを認めずして我は汝を見たる事なしと言ん | If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee. |
| 19 | 視よその道の喜樂是のごとし 而してまた他の者地より生いでん | Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow. |
| 20 | それ神は完全人を棄たまはず また惡き者の手を執りたまはず | Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers: |
| 21 | 遂に哂笑をもて汝の口に充し歡喜を汝の唇に置たまはん | Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing. |
| 22 | 汝を惡む者は羞恥を着せられ 惡き者の住所は無なるべし | They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought. |
