| 1 | 然ばヨブよ請ふ我が言ふ事を聽け わが一切の言語に耳を傾むけよ | Wherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words. |
| 2 | 視よ我口を啓き 舌を口の中に動かす | Behold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue hath spoken in my mouth. |
| 3 | わが言ふ所は正義き心より出づ わが唇あきらかにその知識を陳ん | My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly. |
| 4 | 神の靈われを造り 全能者の氣息われを活しむ | The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life. |
| 5 | 汝もし能せば我に答へよ わが前に言をいひつらねて立て | If thou canst answer me, set thy words in order before me, stand up. |
| 6 | 我も汝とおなじく神の者なり 我もまた土より取てつくられしなり | Behold, I am according to thy wish in God’s stead: I also am formed out of the clay. |
| 7 | わが威嚴はなんぢを懼れしめず わが勢はなんぢを壓せず | Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee. |
| 8 | 汝わが聽くところにて言談り 我なんぢの言語の聲を聞けり云く | Surely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying, |
| 9 | われは潔淨くして愆なし 我は辜なく惡き事わが身にあらず | I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me. |
| 10 | 視よ彼われを攻る釁隙を尋ね われを己の敵と算へ | Behold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy, |
| 11 | わが脚を桎に夾めわが一切の擧動に目を着たまふと | He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths. |
| 12 | 視よ我なんぢに答へん なんぢ此事において正義からず 神は人よりも大なる者にいませり | Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man. |
| 13 | 彼その凡て行なふところの理由を示したまはずとて汝かれにむかひて辯爭そふは何ぞや | Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters. |
| 14 | まことに神は一度二度と告示したまふなれど人これを曉らざるなり | For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. |
| 15 | 人熟睡する時または床に睡る時に夢あるひは夜の間の異象の中にて | In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; |
| 16 | かれ人の耳をひらき その敎ふるところを印して堅うし | Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, |
| 17 | 斯して人にその惡き業を離れしめ 傲慢を人の中より除き | That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man. |
| 18 | 人の魂靈を護りて墓に至らしめず 人の生命を護りて劍にほろびざらしめたまふ | He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword. |
| 19 | 人床にありて疼痛に攻られ その骨の中に絶ず戰鬪のあるあり | He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain: |
| 20 | その氣食物を厭ひ その魂靈うまき物をも嫌ふ | So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat. |
| 21 | その肉は痩おちて見えず その骨は見えざりし者までも顯露になり | His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out. |
| 22 | その魂靈は墓に近より その生命は滅ぼす者に近づく | Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers. |
| 23 | しかる時にもし彼とともに一箇の使者あり 千の中の一箇にして中保となり 正しき道を人に示さば | If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness: |
| 24 | 神かれを憫れみて言給はん彼を救ひて墓にくだること無らしめよ 我すでに收贖の物を得たりと | Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom. |
| 25 | その肉は小兒の肉よりも瑞々しくなり その若き時の形状に歸らん | His flesh shall be fresher than a child’s: he shall return to the days of his youth: |
| 26 | かれ若し神に祷らば神かれを顧りみ 彼をしてその御面を喜こび見ることを得せしめたまはん 神は人の正義に報をなしたまふべし | He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness. |
| 27 | かれ人の前に歌ひて言ふ 我は罪を犯し正しきを抂たり 然ど報を蒙らず | He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not; |
| 28 | 神わが魂靈を贖ひて墓に下らしめず わが生命光明を見ん | He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light. |
| 29 | そもそも神は是等のもろもろの事をしばしば人におこなひ | Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man, |
| 30 | その魂靈を墓より牽かへし生命の光明をもて彼を照したまふ | To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living. |
| 31 | ヨブよ耳を傾むけて我に聽け 請ふ默せよ 我かたらん | Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak. |
| 32 | なんぢもし言ふべきことあらば我にこたへよ 請ふ語れ 我なんぢを義とせんと慾すればなり | If thou hast any thing to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee. |
| 33 | もし無ば我に聽け 請ふ默せよ 我なんぢに智慧を敎へん | If not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom. |
