| 1 | 視よわが目これを盡く觀 わが耳これを聞て通逹れり | Lo, mine eye hath seen all this, mine ear hath heard and understood it. |
| 2 | 汝らが知るところは我もこれを知る 我は汝らに劣らず | What ye know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior unto you. |
| 3 | 然りと雖ども我は全能者に物言ん 我は神と論ぜんことをのぞむ | Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God. |
| 4 | 汝らは只謊言を造り設くる者 汝らは皆無用の醫師なり | But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value. |
| 5 | 願くは汝ら全く默せよ 然するは汝らの智慧なるべし | O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom. |
| 6 | 請ふわが論ずる所を聽き 我が唇にて辨爭ふ所を善く聽け | Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips. |
| 7 | 神のために汝ら惡き事を言や 又かれのために虚僞を述るや | Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him? |
| 8 | 汝ら神の爲に偏るや またかれのために爭はんとするや | Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God? |
| 9 | 神もし汝らを鑒察たまはば豈善らんや 汝等人を欺むくごとくに彼を欺むき得んや | Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye so mock him? |
| 10 | 汝等もし密に私しするあらば彼かならず汝らを責ん | He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons. |
| 11 | その威光なんぢらを懼れしめざらんや 彼を懼るる畏懼なんぢらに臨まざらんや | Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you? |
| 12 | なんぢらの諭言は灰に譬ふべし なんぢらの城は土の城となる | Your remembrances are like unto ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay. |
| 13 | 默して我にかかはらざれ 我言語んとす 何事にもあれ我に來らば來れ | Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will. |
| 14 | 我なんぞ我肉をわが齒の間に置き わが生命をわが手に置かんや | Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand? |
| 15 | 彼われを殺すとも我は彼に依賴まん 唯われは吾道を彼の前に明かにせんとす | Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. |
| 16 | 彼また終に我救拯とならん 邪曲なる者は彼の前にいたること能はざればなり | He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him. |
| 17 | なんぢら聽よ 我言を聽け我が述る所をなんぢらの耳に入しめよ | Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears. |
| 18 | 視よ我すでに吾事を言竝べたり 必ず義しとせられんと自ら知る | Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified. |
| 19 | 誰か能われと辨論ふ者あらん 若あらば我は口を緘て死ん | Who is he that will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall give up the ghost. |
| 20 | 惟われに二の事を爲たまはざれ 然ば我なんぢの面をさけて隱れじ | Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee. |
| 21 | なんぢの手を我より離したまへ 汝の威嚴をもて我を懼れしめたまはざれ | Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid. |
| 22 | 而して汝われを召たまへ 我こたへん 又われにも言はしめて汝われに答へたまへ | Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me. |
| 23 | 我の愆われの罪いくばくなるや 我の背反と罪とを我に知しめたまへ | How many are mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin. |
| 24 | 何とて御顏を隱し我をもて汝の敵となしたまふや | Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thine enemy? |
| 25 | なんぢは吹廻さるる木の葉を威し 干あがりたる籾殼を追たまふや | Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro? and wilt thou pursue the dry stubble? |
| 26 | 汝は我につきて苦き事等を書しるし 我をして我が幼稚時の罪を身に負しめ | For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth. |
| 27 | わが足を足械にはめ 我すべての道を伺ひ 我足の周圍に限界をつけたまふ | Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly unto all my paths; thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet. |
| 28 | 我は腐れたる者のごとくに朽ゆき 蠹に食るる衣服に等し | And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth eaten. |
