1 三日めにガリラヤのカナに婚禮ありて、イエスの母そこに居り、 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2 イエスも弟子たちと共に婚禮に招かれ給ふ。 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
3 葡萄酒つきたれば、母イエスに言ふ『かれらに葡萄酒なし』 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
4 イエス言ひ給ふ『をんなよ、我と汝となにの關係あらんや、我が時は未だ來らず』 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
5 母 僕どもに『何にても其の命ずる如くせよ』と言ひおく。 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
6 彼處にユダヤ人の潔の例にしたがひて、四 五 斗 入りの石甕 六個ならべあり。 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
7 イエス僕に『水を甕に滿せ』といひ給へば、口まで滿す。 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
8 また言ひ給ふ『いま汲み取りて饗宴 長に持ちゆけ』乃ち持ちゆけり。 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
9 饗宴 長、葡萄酒になりたる水を嘗めて、その何處より來りしかを知らざれば（水を汲みし僕どもは知れり）新郎を呼びて言ふ、 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
10 『おほよそ人は先よき葡萄酒を出し、醉のまはる頃ほひ劣れるものを出すに、汝はよき葡萄酒を今まで留め置きたり』 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
11 イエス此の第一の徴をガリラヤのカナにて行ひ、その榮光を顯し給ひたれば、弟子たち彼を信じたり。 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
12 この後イエス及びその母・兄弟・弟子たちカペナウムに下りて、そこに數日 留りたり。 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.
13 かくてユダヤ人の過越の祭ちかづきたれば、イエス、エルサレムに上り給ふ。 And the Jews’ passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,
14 宮の内に牛・羊・鴿を賣るもの、兩替する者の坐するを見て、 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
15 繩を鞭につくり、羊をも牛をもみな宮より逐ひ出し、兩替する者の金を散し、その臺を倒し、 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables;
16 鴿をうる者に言ひ給ふ『これらの物を此處より取り去れ、わが父の家を商賣の家とすな』 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise.
17 弟子たち『なんじの家をおもふ熱心われを食はん』と録されたるを憶ひ出せり。 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.
18 ここにユダヤ人こたへてイエスに言ふ『なんぢ此 等の事をなすからには、我らに何の徴を示すか』 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
19 答へて言ひ給ふ『なんぢら此の宮をこぼて、われ三日の間に之を起さん』 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
20 ユダヤ人いふ『この宮を建つるには四十 六 年を經たり、なんぢは三日のうちに之を起すか』 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
21 これはイエス己が體の宮をさして言ひ給へるなり。 But he spake of the temple of his body.
22 然れば死人の中より甦へり給ひしのち、弟子たち斯く言ひ給ひしことを憶ひ出して、聖書とイエスの言ひ給ひし言とを信じたり。 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
23 過越のまつりの間、イエス、エルサレムに在すほどに、多くの人々その爲し給へる徴を見て御名を信じたり。 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
24 されどイエス己を彼らに任せ給はざりき。それは凡ての人を知り、 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,
25 また人の衷にある事を知りたまへば、人に就きて證する者を要せざる故なり。 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
