1 この後、イエス復テベリヤの海邊にて己を弟子たちに現し給ふ、その現れ給ひしこと左のごとし。 After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself.
2 シモン・ペテロ、デドモと稱ふるトマス、ガリラヤのカナのナタナエル、ゼベダイの子ら及びほかの弟子 二人もともに居りしに、 There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.
3 シモン・ペテロ『われ漁獵にゆく』と言へば、彼ら『われらも共に往かん』と言ひ、皆いでて舟に乘りしが、その夜は何をも得ざりき。 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.
4 夜明の頃イエス岸に立ち給ふに、弟子たち其のイエスなるを知らず。 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.
5 イエス言ひ給ふ『子どもよ、獲 物ありしか』彼ら『なし』と答ふ。 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.
6 イエス言ひたまふ『舟の右のかたに網をおろせ、然らば獲 物あらん』乃ち網を下したるに、魚おびただしくして、網を曳き上ぐること能はざりしかば、 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.
7 イエスの愛し給ひし弟子、ペテロに言ふ『主なり』シモン・ペテロ『主なり』と聞きて、裸なりしを上衣をまとひて海に飛びいれり。 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher’s coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.
8 他の弟子たちは陸を離るること遠からず、僅に五十間ばかりなりしかば、魚の入りたる網を小舟にて曳き來り、 And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes.
9 陸に上りて見れば、炭火ありてその上に肴あり、又パンあり。 As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.
10 イエス言ひ給ふ『なんぢらの今とりたる肴を少し持ちきたれ』 Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught.
11 シモン・ペテロ舟に往きて網を陸に曳き上げしに、百 五 十 三 尾の大なる魚 滿ちたり、斯く多かりしが網は裂けざりき。 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.
12 イエス言ひ給ふ『きたりて食せよ』弟子たちその主なるを知れば『なんぢは誰ぞ』と敢へて問ふ者もなし。 Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.
13 イエス進みてパンをとり彼らに與へ、肴をも然なし給ふ。 Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise.
14 イエス死人の中より甦へりてのち、弟子たちに現れ給ひし事、これにて三度なり。 This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.
15 かくて食したる後、イエス、シモン・ペテロに言ひ給ふ『ヨハネの子シモンよ、汝この者どもに勝りて我を愛するか』ペテロいふ『主よ、然り、わが汝を愛する事は、なんぢ知り給ふ』イエス言ひ給ふ『わが羔羊を養へ』 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
16 また二度いひ給ふ『ヨハネの子シモンよ、我を愛するか』ペテロ言ふ『主よ、然り、わが汝を愛する事は、なんぢ、知り給ふ』イエス言ひ給ふ『わが羊を牧へ』 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
17 三度いひ給ふ『ヨハネの子シモンよ、我を愛するか』ペテロ三度『われを愛するか』と言ひ給ふを憂ひて言ふ『主よ、知りたまはぬ處なし、わが汝を愛する事は、なんぢ識りたまふ』イエス言ひ給ふ『わが羊をやしなへ。 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
18 まことに誠になんぢに告ぐ、なんぢ若かりし時は自ら帶して欲する處を歩めり、されど老いては手を伸べて他の人に帶せられ、汝の欲せぬ處に連れゆかれん』 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.
19 これペテロが如何なる死にて神の榮光を顯すかを示して言ひ給ひしなり。斯く言ひて後かれに言ひ給ふ『われに從へ』 This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.
20 ペテロ振反りて、イエスの愛したまひし弟子の從ふを見る。これはさきに夕餐のとき御胸に倚りかかりて『主よ、汝を賣る者は誰か』と問ひし弟子なり。 Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?
21 ペテロこの人を見てイエスに言ふ『主よ、この人は如何に』 Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?
22 イエス言ひ給ふ『よしや我、かれが我の來るまで留るを欲すとも、汝になにの關係あらんや、汝は我に從へ』 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.
23 ここに兄弟たちの中に、この弟子 死なずと云ふ話つたはりたり。されどイエスは死なずと言ひ給ひしにあらず『よしや我、かれが我の來るまで留るを欲すとも、汝になにの關係あらんや』と言ひ給ひしなり。 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?
24 これらの事につきて、證をなし、又これを録しし者は、この弟子なり、我等はその證の眞なるを知る。 This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.
25 イエスの行ひ給ひし事は、この外なほ多し、もし一つ一つ録さば、我おもふに世界もその録すところの書を載するに耐へざらん。 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
