1 サルデスに在る教會の使に書きおくれ。「神の七つの靈と七つの星とを持つ者かく言ふ、われ汝の行爲を知る、汝は生くる名あれど死にたる者なり。 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
2 なんぢ目を覺し、殆ど死なんとする殘のものを堅うせよ、我なんぢの行爲のわが神の前に全からぬを見とめたり。 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
3 されば汝の如何に受けしか、如何に聽きしかを思ひいで、之を守りて悔改めよ。もし目を覺さずば、盜人のごとく我きたらん、汝わが何れの時きたるかを知らざるべし。 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
4 されどサルデスにて衣を汚さぬもの數名あり、彼らは白き衣を著て我とともに歩まん、斯くするに相應しき者なればなり。 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.
5 勝を得る者は斯くのごとく白き衣を著せられん、我その名を生命の書より消し落さず、我が父のまへと御使の前とにてその名を言ひあらはさん。 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
6 耳ある者は御靈の諸 教會に言ひ給ふことを聽くべし」 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
7 ヒラデルヒヤにある教會の使に書きおくれ。「聖なるもの眞なる者、ダビデの鍵を持ちて、開けば閉づる者なく、閉づれば開く者なき者かく言ふ、 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
8 われ汝の行爲を知る、視よ、我なんぢの前に開けたる門を置く、これを閉ぢ得る者なし。汝すこしの力ありて、我が言を守り、我が名を否まざりき。 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
9 視よ、我サタンの會、すなはち自らユダヤ人と稱へてユダヤ人にあらず、ただ虚僞をいふ者の中より、或 者をして汝の足下に來り拜せしめ、わが汝を愛せしことを知らしめん。 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
10 汝わが忍耐の言を守りし故に、我なんぢを守りて、地に住む者どもを試むるために全世界に來らんとする試錬のときに免れしめん。 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
11 われ速かに來らん、汝の有つものを守りて、汝の冠冕を人に奪はれざれ。 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
12 われ勝を得る者を我が神の聖所の柱とせん、彼は再び外に出でざるべし、又かれの上に、わが神の名および我が神の都、すなはち天より我が神より降る新しきエルサレムの名と、我が新しき名とを書き記さん。 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
13 耳ある者は御靈の諸 教會に言ひ給ふことを聽くべし」 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
14 ラオデキヤに在る教會の使に書きおくれ。「アァメンたる者、忠實なる眞なる證人、神の造り給ふものの本源たる者かく言ふ、 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
15 われ汝の行爲を知る、なんぢは冷かにもあらず熱きにもあらず、我はむしろ汝が冷かならんか、熱からんかを願ふ。 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 かく熱きにもあらず、冷かにもあらず、ただ微温きが故に、我なんぢを我が口より吐き出さん。 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
17 なんぢ、我は富めり、豐なり、乏しき所なしと言ひて、己が惱める者・憐むべき者・貧しき者・盲目なる者・裸なる者たるを知らざれば、 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
18 我なんぢに勸む、なんぢ我より火にて煉りたる金を買ひて富め、白き衣を買ひて身に纏ひ、なんぢの裸體の恥を露さざれ、眼藥を買ひて汝の目に塗り、見ることを得よ。 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
19 凡てわが愛する者は、我これを戒め之を懲す。この故に、なんぢ勵みて悔改めよ。 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
20 視よ、われ戸の外に立ちて叩く、人もし我が聲を聞きて戸を開かば、我その内に入りて彼とともに食し、彼もまた我とともに食せん。 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
21 勝を得る者には我とともに我が座位に坐することを許さん、我の勝を得しとき、我が父とともに其の御座に坐したるが如し。 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
22 耳ある者は御靈の諸 教會に言ひ給ふことを聽くべし」』 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
